Is it established that CK is wanting to be Penny's boyfriend or is that still just players belief?

Last I knew he never saw her that way.

That said, SSA #1 is done. Statesman and Malaise are dead, Positron has taken over the Freedom Phalanx, and Wade is probably wishing he was dead. Supposedly, there's a void in the FP with the death of Statesman, but Penelope Yin seems to have fill that void as the newest member.

SSA #2 probably won't start next month, but in May, after the 8 Year Anniversary for CoH is over. I expect it to focus on the FP sans Statesman, and end with the contest to place a player created character into the FP.
this, i cant wait for! ready to enter the contest! im reeeeaaaddddyyyyyy!!!

but i hope SSA#2 focuses on both the FP post-states, as well as Arachnos re-organizing and placing a Mu over Mu Mastery to fill the hole that Scirocco and Ice Mistral will leave as they grow as characters and away from Recluse.

So, you're the one who kidnapped Marshall Blitz.

You do realize he's nothing without all his missiles, right?

But the one thing that I can say with utter, absolute certainty about SSA2 is that at least 60% of the feedback will be complaints about how bad the writing is, mostly supported by quotations from tvtropes.com, interspersed with occasional complaints about how "player characters don't matter."
Many posters have held up numerous examples of well-written arcs, proof left as an exercise for the reader. We're not dealing with an Unpleasable Fanbase. Of course, those arcs are largely well in the game's past. Somewhere along the line the writing went in a new -- and wrong -- direction.

(By the way, I'm convinced this would be true even if it were written by a coalition of geekdom darlings Neil Gaiman, Joss Whedon, and Terry Prachett's ghost, and was fully customizable by the player playing it.)
That probably would suck. Too many cooks.

He doesn't exactly want to be her boyfriend, he's too crazy to think of it that way.

Oh, I don't know. I think the whole "Safe from boys" and rubbing his hands gleefully certainly implies a romantic interest ...

funny thing was, given that he considers himself a "King" and her "his princess" and combined with that line, I used to have a crazy theory the Clockwork King was Penny's real father.

That's not fair, Arcana, most player complains I've seen regarding the SSAs are brought by common sense and affection for the game's NPCs, not mere bickering. It should be a fair warning that there's something wrong with the writing if most of the player sample base didn't start voicing their complaints until the Who Will Die came out. Remember the Going Rogue - Praetoria forum, where thread after thread people were actually discussing the plot, not just pointing out writing blunders and plot holes? There's alot of interesting writing in this game. Who Will Die, however, was disappointing, and deserves criticism.

Even if you insist on depicting us players as irracional children, logic would dictate that if you decide to take away our toys you better have a good explanation for it, that or good ear-plugs. Miss Liberty, Malaise, Statesman and Sister Psyche were all removed from the game, and if the reason behind it is "Jack made them and we hate him", it's to be expected that we at least demand their deaths make sense, and all we saw was the idiot-ball being passed around as they kept dropping like flies.

So now Miss Liberty (a "character" who never appeared prior to this) and Malaise are part of the conspiracy as well? Because everyone associated Malaise with Jack E, amirite?

And CK will badly wish he had a mouth so he could get drunk.
So poor CK will have a new title: "King of The Friend Zone"

The next SSA is going to be

Reign of the Statesmen: Four new heroes show up to replace Statesman

Statesborg: Half robotic Statesman who claims he was repaired and revived by Clockwork King in order to make Penny happy. He will turn out to actually be an evil version of Citadel from an alternate universe.

Statesboy also known as The Paragon Kid: He won't actually say he is Statesman but he will have most of Statesman's powers. He will turn out to be a clone of Statesman created by Dr. Aeon and programmed to destroy the original Statesman. When Statesman died Aeon discarded the clone.

The Last Son of the Well: He will turn out to be yet another version of Cole from an alternate reality where he destroyed all life on his world while attempting to eliminate crime. He is still a bloodthirsty killer but forgoes the use of nuclear weapons in favor of splattering individual criminals.

and finally

States: Real name Pecos Bill Freedom. He has created a set of powered armor and using it seeks to fill the void that Statesman left behind.

Your job, to discover the origins of each of the 4 "heroes" and determine which if any of them are really Statesman. Once you find out none of them are then the real Statesman comes back and says he was just napping.

Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!

You are indeed "rite". Surprised?

Here's a list of surviving Eight members and their creators:

- Statesman - Jack Emmert -----------------> Dead
- Sister Psyche - Jack Emmert -------------> Dead

- Positron - Matt Miller
- Synapse - Phil Zeleski
- Manticore - Sean Fish
- Citadel - ???
- Numina - Belle
- Back Alley Brawler - Christopher Bruce

Others:

- Blue Steel - Blue Steel
- Castle - Floyd Grubb
- Mercedes Sheldon - John Hegner
- Sunstorm - Jonathan Courney
- Miss Liberty - Jack Emmert ---------------> Dead
- Malaise - Jack Emmert --------------------> Dead

This sounds like petty revenge to me, which should not be involving the players.

Anyway, I don't care about your "conspiracy", Jack Emmert means nothing to me since I don't personally know him. I do like his characters, though, particularly Sister Psyche, and they deserved better than the endings they got (Warwitch got a much better death scene in the comics, for example). And Miss Liberty is indeed a game character, albeit a minor one. She showed up in Mender Tesseract's arc, in the Freedom Phalanx novel and was mentioned several times in the official chronology lore.

Edit: Fixed according to GG advice.

Actually, I was just making light of the irony of Venture saying we are not an unpleaseable playerbase when he's already a lock for the forum curmudgeon lifetime achievement award.
