So I was doing the new DA arcs just now, Max's one. And get to the Blue Steel fight. He has a baton and shield..so I assume..mace/shield right? Logical.

Then..I notice the RttC debuff icon on me! He is mace/willpower?? But no..the Against all Odds debuff icon is there too!! Meaning he is mace/shield/wp, and created in AE! The ghaaastly truth.

On another note..when can we get 2 defensive power sets like him?

Blue Steel didn't get three power sets. Three power sets got the privilege of being used by Blue Steel.

Is it true that he's level 1 when he appears in DA?

Is this the Paragon City version of a Chuck Norris joke?

I used to fiddle with my back feet music for a black onyx. My entire room absorbed every echo. The music was . . . thud like. The music was . . . thud like. I usually played such things as rough-neck and thug. Opaque melodies that would bug most people. Music from the other side of the fence.

Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.

It's one of the oldest CoH memes, way back from the days of kill skuls and jerk hackers/gone to the Americans. Okay, maybe not quite that long ago, but Issue 7 when Grandville was introduced.

A lot of the high-level missions for Villains have a sort of happy ending, as though even the people who played CoV were good people. This was usually in the form of the villains being THIS close to winning, but then they get word that whatever captive or whatever ended up getting rescued by Blue Steel.

Let's see... Happened twice to Westin Phipps: once with Miss Francine and the other with Ido and Hugo... Once to Ghost Widow as she attempted to destroy Numina... Once to Ambassador Kuhr'Rekt when he was plotting against Valkyrie... Once to Vernon von Grun as he was interrogating kidnapped scientists about the Devouring Earth... Can't think of any more at the moment.

As a result, he was the go-to guy when something needed to happen, and the Chuck Norris-esque meme developed shortly thereafter.

Nemesis is a Blue Steel plot.

Man, I've collected so many good ones over the years.

The version I got from the grapevine was that the Grandville missions prompted it. I started playing in Issue 6, but didn't get around to redside until Issue 8 or so, after which point I was introduced to the meme.

It's not the first time they've given additional powersets to NPCs. One of the first times I encountered it was Kadabra Kill redside, during Darrin Wade's missions, who appears to be a Grav/Kin/Emp controller (and possibly more that I was forgetting).

Incidentally, I hate Kadabra Kill with a passion.

I mostly remember "Blue Steel's a <Expletive Deleted>" pre-Grandville.

I mean, if it wasn't for him, we would not have the Synapse Task force and it's kill all missions.

He's always level 1. The game doesn't have the resources to run him at level 2.

@Doctor Gemini

Arc #271637 - Welcome to M.A.G.I. - An alternative first story arc for magic origin heroes. At Hero Registration you heard the jokes about Azuria always losing things. When she loses the entire M.A.G.I. vault, you are chosen to find it.

Reminds me of the time Lord Recluse sent all of Arachnos to attack him. "He's only level 1, you'll destroy him easily!" After a vicious battle, a single Wolf Spider limped back to Grandville, near death, collapsed at Lord Recluse's feet and said "It was a trap, my Lord. He was level 2."

Yeah, and I loled long and hard when I misdelivered U'Kon Gr'ai's message to him.

Pretty sure he has at least one badass moment in the comics, which predate Grandville. I am not sure why they used him as a deus ex machina so much, for that brief period. Then he kind of completely disappeared until Darrin Wade's arc, aside from injokes.

Not gonna lie, I was actually underwhelmed by Blue Steel. I was so pumped to fight him, duking it out with the legend. And then he pulls out a baton and starts smacking me with it. That left me going "Eh?"

I always though Blue Steel was Martial Arts/Shield. He seems like he kind of guy to throw punches and brawl with enemies, not use standard police weaponry, especially against a super villain. Martial Arts, or better yet Street Justice, would've suited him much better.

Probably too much like Captain America to be comfortable for NCSoft Lawyers - in but in CoH meme parlance would be "Blue Steel broke time so he could go back and teach Cap everything he knew"
