I also have recall friend if you get too far ahead. Also, if things get too rough I have invisibility and phase shift. And since you don't have phase shift, I have vengeance. I was a little worried my attacks would recharge too slowly to be able to continuously attack, so I made sure to have a very well slotted brawl.

You guys won't get anywhere without a melee.

Pfft yeah, but at least We have sets. Every dunkoff knows that IO sets = good build and no sets = garbage truck what the suck! Lrn 2 use IO sets nub, only then can your problemsituations be solutionbeaten with maximum helposity.

Necro0mNomNomicon, I must say you are a master at your craft. Before reading this guide, I really don’t think I understood anything about this game. I’m surprised that I managed to even load it, being the n00b that I was.

I had one concern in reading it though. I am not one to doubt the POWER of knockback. Nay, it is a beautiful thing. But I was wondering…as any aspiring apprentice might…what about the untold wonder that is intangibility?

With that in mind, I present to you my build, which I will begin to construct tonight (on Freedom of course). I will follow it with notes…and pray that I can achieve half the level of helpentroping that you have. Any feedback you have for me would be wonderful.

The heart and soul of this build is intangibility. See, sometimes enemies are just far too powerful to even look at, and as the best solo character out there…a controller, it is my duty to control them. And what better way then to send them to another dimension? The real key to using this power is to understand which enemy needs to be removed, and when. Usually, a mission will tell you which foe is the most powerful, and this should be your target. “Defeat Longfang and his guards.” Obviously, this longfang is one tough customer, and the best thing you can do to help your team is to remove him from the equation. As useful as that is, Sonic Cage REALLY shines in strike forces. Reichsman is a foe that all heroes hate, help them out by spamming Sonic Cage on him. In fact, its recharge will make it so these dastardly foes can never hurt you! Remember, bosses get stronger the closer they are to death, so make sure to use sonic cage on a foe RIGHT BEFORE they are about to drop, to really save your team! Dimension Shift is a similar power, one that can make a whole troublesome spawn disappear!

While I see the beauty in making your tanks and brutes invisible, some foolish noobs will still try to “take the fight to the enemy”. They will use their taunts and attacks to still try to gain agro, despite the level of help you have heaped upon them. As a controller, its my job to help them anyways. And my answer to this dilemma is a power called Sonic Repulsion. This helpful power will repel the enemies from a target of your choice. Place it on your brutes and any foe they get close to will fly away! The biggest problem with this power is trying to manage the number of “thank you” tells you will get while using it!

I adopted many of your other ideas as well…group fly, teleport, and grant invisibility are all very very important, and I will make sure to never skip them on another character. Wormhole is an amazing power that fits well. It is even dual purpose. When your team is in dire trouble, you can easily use wormhole to add another group or two to the mix. The extra foes will surely force your allies to rise to the challenge and overcome this. Likewise, you can use it to save your allies from the enemies. Use it at random to pull a whole spawn away from an ally. When your brute catches back up to them, he may even find that they have been magically phase shifted! Super Speed + a sleath IO ensures you can sneak into a group and use wormhole FIRST THING!

If things start to go really bad, you can use hibernate to save yourself. This is important, because once much of the team has dropped, they will need someone who’s still in the action to pull the freshly rezed toons back in.

My build is lacking the almighty knockback powers that yours has..but there are a few in there. And don’t forget, you can always recall your singularity into the enemy ranks for a nice scatter!

Need to just hit 50 with one build, then switch to the other and leave it at lv1 with nothing slotted. Join some trials and see if anyone notices. >.>

I love my Ill/SS troller, but can be just as much of a groupbane as your toon, well maybe not as much, but I have Group Invisibility, which actually does have a -threat level in it!

From what I've seen, the duo you and Arcana have going are missing some key things, so I'll toss this into the mix for the trio.

Santakid, congrats on not only reviving this thread but also getting into the first post edits. If I could make a Gravitostorm / Sonicergy Blastonance Contrender I would. Sadly life is full of difficult choices, and noone can do it all. If we work together, the combined helprassitudes will certainefinitely be able to overcometh the adversidifficultimes that our team faces in their ADVENTURE TIMES.

What time is it?

Literally the Best Build Ever: Years in the Making

Clearly, I has bin doing it Wrong. Thank you, NecroOmNomNomicon and Santakid for helping me see what a Support Archetype should be.

While this build has only one cage power, it has knockback in abundance, as well as an oft overlooked cornerstone of defenderizing: Force Bubble. It's Obviously Vital that no badguy should be allowed to approach the team. I also took Team TP to ensure that my group stays bunched safely within my protective radius. Use this often, as it's also necessary to refresh your stealth. Badguys willful enough to penetrate my bubble of safeness can be dealt with via several kb dealing powers, or by TP foe.

Repulsion Bomb has been properly slotted to become a knockback, not knockdown. I also slotted some Purples and PvP IOs, cuz everyone knows they make builds better. Tenebrous Tentacles immobilizes without impeding kb, ensuring that scattered targets stay scattered, don't approach the team, and can more easily be scattered further. It should be noted that targets affected by Dark Pit should not be immobilized, for they tend to wander at random and more or less in a direction away from the team. Force Bolt is a mag51 kb power that recharges in 1.63s, this should (obviously) be the conerstone of the ST attack chain.

Without further ado, here is the build that will help define and refine my New Way of Doing Things. I already look forward to the many positive /tells I will receive for my helpousness, and thank the contributors of this thread for helping me see the Error of my Ways.

This is a work of art.

Oddly enough: if everyone who posted a build made their character and then roll'd an 8-man team. It would most likely be the best team ever.

Decided to make a Jack-of-all-trades build so I can handle all of the games content.

Need debuffs? Got it. This build has it all, -defense, - res, and it even has a lot of -hp, which is the greatest debuff in the game.. Oh and I got some inspiration from some of the builds here, it also has -end.

Need a healer? Got it covered too. Not only does the PB primary allow for massive healing possibilities.. I also dived into the medicine pool for max potential as a healer. I slotted for interupt reduction so I can fire them off with no interuption, and also for range so I can heal from far away.

I can also tank, I slotted for AoE defense because this build is made for great area of effect effect. I slotted the end redux in Essence Boost due to it's high end cost, and as a tank, I cannot run out of end. The +3 defense IO gets me closer to the soft cap for all positions. All in all, very sturdy.

I slotted five complete sets of Force Feedback for max recharge. Moar recharge = moar damage, which is the primary focus on this build. I also took burnout so when I use all my AoE/PBAoE powers, I can pop it and instantly use them all again. All in all.. Very good build. Very happy with the versatitility of it.

Amazingly, when they returned, they found that hitting wakies didnt help them much. And it seems that even the mighty hydra heads require expert planning and many applications of Sonic Cage...)

I feel I should note a disparity between some of the builds I've seen in this thread. There are two ends to the spectrum of fail-builds. On one hand, you have bad power choices and sets that just aren't very good, like taking Aid Self on a Regen toon (or Phase Shift on ANYTHING besides a dedicated PvPer) and poor set choices like Slow Movement sets in Spine attacks, as opposed to Damage sets. This is the route I tried to go in my Storm-Energy Build, I still built the toon semi-seriously, using some logical slotting, and some terrible sets and purposely detrimental powers. It LOOKs like I tried, and I have goals with the build such as rampant knockback, which I am able to achieve because although the build is terrible, it is effectively terrible... and not completely ineffective trash.

...but there's another end to the spectrum. "The Noob Side", significantly more awful than anything any of us would do even when we were noobs ourselves. 6 slotted Brawls, 6 Endurance Reduction IO's in an attack instead of any Damage or Accuracy, the kind of stuff that is certifiably useless. I tend to think this end of the spectrum is NOT as amusing because powersets don't even matter and all you have to do is shamelessly pour slots into brawl and swift and hurdle to really ruin the build. Then you have successfully created a useless ineffective toon.

The end result of either method is that the team would be better off replacing you for anyone else... but the first method is significantly funnier.

I guess what I want to say is that, if your build sucks but it looks like you tried, and it has an effectiveness (even if the effect is NEGATIVE, or directly harmful to the team) then you succeeded in my eyes. If your build is entirely random trash and useless enhancements that barely let you affect the flow of battle, then you made a dead weight toon, which is not as funny to me honestly.

All in all I was still very impressed by the levels of gawdawful faillitudings you dipwaflleshizats will sinkfall into just to helpentropificaterify the populosers on schitty uv zeroes, free-dumb.

As you will all know, pets are very unhelpful in trials due to their tendancity to not listen to your complex strategies and the AIs utter fail at helpocity.

So I made this build, which is better.

The lack of pets is easy to solve. Simply grab a bunch of noobies from Atlas Park. Say you are doing a fire farm or DFB. Tell them to listen to your command very carefully, and make macros telling them to attack, bunch around you, follow, or not do anything.

Ta-dah! You now have maximum helpocity pets!

But what if your new pets don't listen to you? They are unhelpful and don't listen to your complex plans? Well, you could kick them using another macro with some message explaining their faults, how to fix them and how to uninstall their client. Or! You can use their dead bodies as an example to your other pets and make them work better!

But your pets can also get hurt! You need to watch their every move and yell at them if they get hurt! But you also need to fight more so you take heal. But make sure you macro it, so it tells them what you actually think of them when you heal them. Have many macros if you want, to tell people exactly what you think of them!

Another good thing is all the recharge. If you aren't at at least 400% recharge, then how can you keep attacking?

This build also has lots of slow and knockback. The knockback I guess you can drop, so long as you group with the OP, but the slow is important. Some of your pets will be level 1 and won't have access to swift or hurdle. You need slow so your pets can hunt them down.

I missed this the first time around, so... Treees, you have made me a necrophile.

Which I imagine might look something like this.

(I think it would be really good for teaming because I have all the pets and I took all the heals, except Suppress Pain, which I skipped for concept reasons and it isn't a real heal anyway. I really wanted Shadow Maul for this character, but it isn't available for Masterminds, so I took Flurry instead, which was okay because I needed it to take Whirlwind anyway. Also, I have INVISIBLE ZOMBIES! How cool is that?!)

Fail, good sir, fail!
all defenders are healers eh? why dont you take a look at the powersets before you talk, 5 of the 13 def primaries do not have heals... and even more can be used for WAY better means then to heal
