Lessons to take from Marcus Cole's death

Morals are for chumps. They'll trip you up every time.

Monologging is a weakness regardless of your alignment.

Sentiment will kill you - better to be unsentimental and fight to the end.

Nobody is completely invulnerable. If some nobody goes to a great deal of trouble to arouse your ire and engineer a confrontation, assume that he has a good reason for believing he can survive such a confrontation.

Striking hard, fast, and without warning will always trump walking in and announcing yourself.

Evil cannot be reformed. Attempts to reform a criminal will always result in the criminal biting the hand that feeds it.

Vengeance is nothing more than swift justice. Let the justice system work. Interference with it will only give an advantage to the enemy you're protecting.

Did I miss anything?

Be careful of where & when you toggle-on "walk"?

Call downs(summoning) are your friend when approaching an enemy.

Don't be afraid to use the environment as a weapon despite the fact it is a historical site.

Never walk into an obvious trap or you'll pay for it.

Too bad Statesman wasn't softcapped to giant energy guns.

I wonder if Positron has Vengeance.

Has anyone checked to see if Statesman is still laying in the mission map asking for a small yellow or Wakie?

Oh and I forgot.. I guess he should've went regen.

Well, if you want something more... positive, maybe something like: the death of one hero can inspire the rise of a thousand more. You know, since we'll probably finish these missions heroically and all.

Or not.

The thing is, Statesman didn't really inspire any of my characters. I see how Statesman died as the theft of a nuclear bomb and that bomb needs to be retrieved.

If he'd only had the Barrier iPower, he might have lived...

Sounds like you are inspired to difuse that bomb.

When all else fails fall back on the tried and true kill the #1 hero bit and act like you thought it all up yourself and its something new and shinny.

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

I actually had a similar reaction to the news, but it took a different angle. I saw it as the game continuing to model itself after known comic storylines.

Supes died. Bats died. Capn America died. Statesman dies. It's what was supposed to happen.

I'll still forever call him a wuss and quitter because of how they did it, but oh well.

Be well, people of CoH.

You can actually trade your life for the life of someone you love if you have an alien machine designed to do the job.

Wait, which Marcus Cole are we talking about?

No matter how stupid the situation of your death, Samuraiko can still do a video that makes it look good.

IDK, having worked in entertainment for many decades it just kind of bugs me that new fresh approaches to these kind of things too often get overridden by the Hollywood copycat syndrome. I know that with the amount of creative people that work within Paragon Studios that "someone" had a "different" and perhaps better way of handling taking this game to the next level of comic book/game storytelling.

I'd better dollars to doughnuts they got overruled in lieu of the tried and true method of killing the #1 guy. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I still want to see this version of Statesman's afterlife:

Oh hell, forgot where I was posting. Probably considered nsfw. If you want to see it, go to youtube and search for "South Park: Little Boy You're Going To Hell Song"

I've been soloing these missions on the villain side with Grey Kestrel, my rogue DB/WP Stalker, who has a certain connection to Darrin's little project...

Things Kestrel has learned thus far:

1) Style does not guarantee victory...
Jean was awfully foxy, but that didn't stop him from getting brain-smacked into next week. Being cute will only get you so far in the bad-guy business.

2) Know thy allies as well as thy enemies...
If your plan involves empowering and giving the forces of, say, Rularuu a stronger presence and connection to the Primal world, it MIGHT really be a bad idea to bring in a partner who... well... turned out to be one of those those Rularuu things herself. With Rularuu pets. Who were all about chomping your head off at a really inopportune moment. Better to avoid the issue by doing a little research before you pick (and then piss off-) your flunkies.

It was very satisfying to use an Echo of Statesman to tank the guy who killed him and his little buddy too.
