Cutscenes
I agree.
Loved the comic screens of the SSA loading screens and from tutorial.
Much more interesting that cutscenes.
They cant replace all cutscenes in all important arcs and TF but they should do it from now on in all the new TF coming and for all the existing iTrials.
If they can't make cutscenes skippable - properly skippable, by hitting escape or something, not just "if everyone on the league has run this before on the character they are currently playing" - there should be no cutscenes, or at the least they should be very rare, for big dramatic moments in the plot*. There really are very few things more frustrating than taking away control of my character, and even basic chat functions, for minutes at a time to show a bit of story that I have already seen multiple times.
*Romulus' Nictus transformation in the ITF is short, dramatic, and important, thus I don't mind it as much, although it's still annoying to watch it EVERY time. Recluse's big reveal in the STF is also passable. Marauder having a refreshing drink in Lambda, or some robots giving a solid two minutes of exposition in BAF, or etc, do NOT qualify.
I'm personally fine with most cutscenes. But I would prefer voice overs to them, and if possible, some additional speech emotes that make basic lipsync achievable.

I like cutscenes.

Although, I would like the option to skip the long ones when I have seen them 20 times.

Even the longest barely interrupts the button mashing.
Kids these days... so impatient.
More cut scenes!!! In fact I want a cut scene after every battle. A scene that replays the fight from multiple angles in slow motion.
Don't count your weasels before they pop dink!
I don't think cutscenes should be completely scrapped, they just need to be skippable. I'd suggest potentially giving the team leader the option to skip it for the whole team/league if individual skips won't work, but I can see alot of people not liking that.
You can't skip cutscenes for the same reason you can't pause the game: not everyone will do so at the same time.
Anyway, I like them for what they are, but they get a little old after a while. I'd like to see more of them, but much shorter ones. Sitting through Mother Mayhem and Siege and Nightstar AGAIN wouldn't be such a pain if it didn't make you spend such a long time watching instead of playing. But a cutscene is a great way to make sure everyone actually SEES the lead-up to an important event, as opposed to the way so many tip missions do it, giving you a wall of text to read and then having an enemy attack you before you finish.
So, I suggest lots of short cutscenes instead of a few long ones, and if they want to disable battle cries during those cutscenes so people can't get cute with it, that'd be fine by me.
FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.
Skippable cutscenes would be nice. And if you're in a group have the team/league take a vote on skipping it.
I admit, I've been playing The Old Republic and going from that sort of quality to CoH's cutscenes is a bit of a drag.

Yeah, have a button at the bottom and if everyone on the team clicks it, skip it! Also, have an option when starting a task force, trial, story arc, whatever, to automatically skip cut scenes. Or have a setting in Menu>Options to skip cutscenes, and if everyone's set to skip, skip them automatically; otherwise, supply a skip button.

If you've only played an AT once (one set combo) and "hate" it - don't give up. Roll a different combo. It may just be those sets not clicking for you.
I like the cut scenes.
MOAR CUTSCENES...with the condition that they have MOAR QUALITY!!
*Brevity is the soul of wit...Don't drag these out!
*A picture's worth a thousand words, but so is like, ten spoken words...I'd like to hear more voiceover stuff. I felt so alone after rolling the tutorial, with its walkie-talkie... and then walking into the mime planet of Atlas.
*Polish the old spoons! Just give some of the old costume parts a touch-up, and maybe revamp the NPC's costumes.

If Masterminds didn't suck, they'd be the most powerful AT in the game.
/unsigned on comic book pages unless they can actually manage to get decent art, which they completely failed to do for the tutorial.
"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill
We will honor the past, and fight to the last, it will be a good way to die...
I understand the game's supposed to be a time sink.
But essentially hijacking our computer for minutes at a time for cutscenes is one of the absolute crappiest ways to siphon time out of someone...
There are cutscenes in missions that can be single-player. Or eight-player.

Besides, like Aggelakis said, it could be made to skip only if everyone agrees to do so, which would nullify this objection.
I've been playing in a newly launched MMO and I am now sick to death of flippin cutscenes. Every single time you go to a contact you spend 10 minutes playing thru the damn cutscenes. Worse they linked it to their morality choices, and the written text doesn't match the voice acting so you have to constantly start over every time you find out your initial choice means something entirely different.
So I find myself agreeing with wanting to toggle cutscenes off.
I like cutscenes.

Isn't NCSoft Korean owned? That is the land of animation these days, perhaps they could do some actual cartoon cell animation if it were not too technically challenging to develop?
Yeah, cutscenes. My suggestion?
Get rid of 'em.
Yes, I know they advance a story, etc, etc, etc. But:
- You can't skip them. Supposedly if you've played it before (trial/tf) it will skip if everyone has. But the game's not aware of alts, so when my new Mr. Blastalot hits one... I can't just skip it.
- They look bad. Just flat out - no matter how many shinies they put in, they just look *poor.* Why? Because we have fixed-expression bobbleheads having balloons appear as they bob and stiffly emote. Newer games have characters look like they're actually *talking* and emoting properly.
- They get people cutting in with text, thinking it's humorous.
In their place, I say adopt the comic-book medium and give us "comic pages." Yes, more work for the art team (though apparently the cutscenes are *also* a lot of work) but it matches the genre, it would allow appropriate expression (instead of "creepy fixed bobblehead") and, yes, help offset that this is an eight (plus) year old game to people coming in.
