Smaller iTrials: Would you do them?
Blazara Aura LVL 50 Fire/Psi Dom (with 125% recharge)
Flameboxer Aura LVL 50 SS/Fire Brute
Ice 'Em Aura LVL 50 Ice Tank
Darq Widow Fortune LVL 50 Fortunata (200% rech/Night Widow 192.5% rech)--thanks issue 19!
The last thing this game needs is another currency to unlock powers. GG it been brought up over and over why folks are running the earlier trials. Nerfing them or adding an addition currency gate to new powers may drive more VIPs away then play the new Itrials

I can see them however using EMPs (not a new currency) for opening up new slots, and giving the newer trials (including the upcoming Diabloique trial, and the ones for tyrant and hamidon [cause you just know THOSE will probably be coming] increased emp rewards after you do them a number of times.

And back on topic, yes 8 to 10 man max smaller trials would be fun, and easier to form for.
I'd be down for those. And this thread shows some others would.
Maybe make them outdoor types with direct portal entrances in Dark Astoria or something.

To the smaller iTrials, yes. For me, personally (and yes, this is just my anecdotal experience), forming iTrials is torture. I can't do the ones I want to, only what's forming.
THAT'S WHY SOLO INCARNATE CONTENT IS ATTRACTIVE.
Yes, servers run iTrials all the time; yes, people grind them over and over. But the reality is, on =my= play schedule with =my= preferences, it's hard to get what I want. I'm still not convinced that LFG works for anyone but a preformed league, because I have NEVER been able to join anything. Put all that together, and hell yes, I'm looking forward to solo incarnate content and would enjoy smaller TF-style iTrials.

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

I'm half expecting iTrials to require vetted applications like raid guilds from that other game in the near future.
Thats because the LFG dumps you in the trial with too few people.
It's set to queue up to the minimum, which for the DFB is 4. You have to go in with at least 6 people otherwise the AVs only spawn as EBs and becomes not worth running for xp.
Just another failure of that system.

I have nothing against villains teaming up with heroes occasionally when they are facing a greater threat. But that excuse has been used so often now, it's become tiresome. Some of us like to play villains. Some like to play level 50 villains. And aside from the LRSF and Barraccuda, everything else at level 50 redside is co-op.
I understand having to favour blueside as it is more popular but that's no excuse for having no content. I feel that the SSAs have handled it very well. They use similar art resources, identical maps and yet they tell a different side to the story, one where villians can actually be evil for a change. I am very grateful for this and would like to see the same ethos applied to further trials. Although not ideal, this is far better than just casting villains in with the heroes every single time. |
They just need to add some variables into the trials linked to your hero/villain alignment. Take the TPN trial for example. During the part with the civilians put the cameras back out during the the part with the telepathists. If you take out the telepathists with minimal civilian casualties in front of the cameras, ding you get a +1 to your hero alignment. If you decide to smash the cameras then kill the civilians before they find a rock, ding +1 towards being a villain. If you decided to smash the civies before smashing the cameras, +1 towards being a villain and you'll probably fail the trial.
