I use a slight variation on this guy http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...2&postcount=11. The only difference is I switched Placate for the Disruptor Blast.
The Cardiac Alpha is a must. -
I have to say the opposite. Most of the runs I'm seeing now are shard runs with very few short cuts. I think the one short cut everyone does is to pull the AVs down to the Console.

Quote:I have nothing against villains teaming up with heroes occasionally when they are facing a greater threat. But that excuse has been used so often now, it's become tiresome. Some of us like to play villains. Some like to play level 50 villains. And aside from the LRSF and Barraccuda, everything else at level 50 redside is co-op.
I understand having to favour blueside as it is more popular but that's no excuse for having no content. I feel that the SSAs have handled it very well. They use similar art resources, identical maps and yet they tell a different side to the story, one where villians can actually be evil for a change. I am very grateful for this and would like to see the same ethos applied to further trials. Although not ideal, this is far better than just casting villains in with the heroes every single time.
They just need to add some variables into the trials linked to your hero/villain alignment. Take the TPN trial for example. During the part with the civilians put the cameras back out during the the part with the telepathists. If you take out the telepathists with minimal civilian casualties in front of the cameras, ding you get a +1 to your hero alignment. If you decide to smash the cameras then kill the civilians before they find a rock, ding +1 towards being a villain. If you decided to smash the civies before smashing the cameras, +1 towards being a villain and you'll probably fail the trial. -
I'm not fond of their locations. Grandville and PI really need to invest in their infrastructure. Most of my toons spend all of their time in Cap or Steel Canyon.
Cap is great with access to a Uni, ferry, vault, SG portal, and RWZ close by. All it lacks is a quartermaster nearby.
Steel lacks quick access to PI and the RWZ. The SG portal is a bit of a run as is the train. -
Quote:We deal more with science and research type systems. Every customer is a custom set up.Working on Enterprise software at least limits the hardware and software you have to contend with.
Of course there is then the problem of senior management deciding on a policy change and having it implemented without telling the development team that its going to take all the spare machine resources.
You mean you get weeks off from support?
Hmm I also forgot the "User stuck on other side of Atlantic due to ash cloud" that I had a few months back.
In theory we get weeks off from support. It is the same theory that gives us vacations and weekends.
I have to argue with customers that when you take a backup then delete a file you don't really want to go into the backup and delete the file there as well. -
Quote:You missed:This being the single biggest failing on a typical bug report and it doesn't just apply to spelling errors.
The process of fixing something like this
<A lot of stuff that sounds like my job.>
- "Find hardware capable of reproducing the error and setting up said hardware with appropriate software." 1 day to 1 month
- "It's your week for tier 3 support" - 1 week
- "Can you inspect this bug/design/test" - 1 day
Also a lot of poorly written bugs will get resolved as "Unable to recreate". -
Yes. I just did this over the weekend for the 2 accounts we use to have. To make it fun I had to use both methods to recover the information because I got rid of one of my old email address that I used for the 2nd account.
If you think you can guess the account name and still have the email address associated with your account you can use the link Flower gave. It takes 10 minutes or so to get everything reset.
If you don't still have that email account then you have to open a trouble ticket with support. They have a list of questions they ask to verify you are the account holder. I didn't have all the information like the serial codes for the games so I had to send a couple emails with additional details. It took a few days mostly cause I was slow in sending all the information back.
Super easy. -
Quote:One of the harshest critisims that can be leveled against an MMO is that it functions more as a Second Job than a Fun Game,
QFT. That is why I left EVE. But there you had to work just to survive. In COH the necessity for farming is no where near what was required in EVE. Maybe if they gave 100x XP and drops for mobs in pvp zones. That would be sweet. -
Quote:Exploiting and cheating are completely different than "getting more than you deserve/intended". Exploits involve eliminating the risk to maximize rewards by circumventing the games intended mechanics. There is nothing exploitative about setting up a farm map of just bosses.Yes. Responsibilities are a matter of opinion.
Exploiting and, therefore, cheating, are a gray area, but only until you get to that point that you are obviously getting greater returns than you deserve. It should be obvious by now that many that are doing the ae farming/pl'ing are "obviously getting greater returns than they deserve" if not the are certainly "getting more than is intended".
I think that players should be responsible enough not to intentionally cheat while playing.
If I can defeat 10 bosses then I deserve the reward for 10 bosses. It doesn't matter if I defeat them all at once or one at a time. Anything less is "getting less than was intended".
Quote:I'd rather see the sewer teams.
There weren't high level characters broadcasting for sewer teams and denying entry of lower level players to teams because they were low levels. Though I do think it is silly to go underground into a dungeon-like environment as soon as you enter the City.
In the few times that I have been in the sewers I have only seen higher level characters following along healing a sewer team one time and they weren't on auto-heal.
I don't believe that a blaster can recharge their nuke fast enough to blow up every group that you are trying to fight. I have never seen this kind of behavior in the sewers.
And teams have always used lvls to exclude people. It is just more open with AE. No really a big deal with the way this game is structured. -
Because a lot of us really like AE. It has renewed our interest in the game and we've met a lot of cool people because of it. And with all the new people we know it is very easy to set up TFs and other teams.

Quote:What is responsible in game is just a matter of opinion. I don't see people's responsiblities in game as anything more than not hitting up people in /b for cyber, or talking smack about how much better CO is in /help, and making sure their SG/Coalition mates are getting teams. If you had to choose today to change only one: AE or The Sewers, so that it can be enjoyed in a more responsible manner, which would you choose?
AE hands down. No other teams complaining we are kill stealing. No one running there lvl 50 behind us on auto heal. No random high lvl blasters showing up and nuking every mob we were trying to fight.
And the usual run was sewers till 7, Kings Row radio till you get the raptor pack, Hollows till you run Frostfire usually 2 times, then if you have a good team head to Faultline. -

Learning to play this game well enough to have fun while on a pug is a piece of cake. It is entirely too easy. Even on boss farms assuming the toons are the right levels.

Quote:Make it a curve based on the number of powers selected then. If you select 1 power from a set the mob is worth 5% of the normal value. Give it every power in the set and it is worth 120%1) As mentioned, custom power selection makes this, as you put it, fail.
Quote:2) Know what would happen? If the bonus is good enough, people would make bosses and AVs with the sets that give the maximum xp possible....then they'd find the hero or villain set(s) that best makes that challenge....less (if not nonexistent). Know what we'd have then? Exactly what we have now (which isn't such a bad thing to me, but I don't tend to get worked up over things like this).
I find posting this on the internet is better than writing it in a letter to Santa.
Quote:3) Well, we know this'll never happen. Wouldn't make sense for them to impose a per map cap and then go the exact opposite way and make it as 'Monty Haul' as the xp is. I would agree that I don't like the way things are now (1500 is too low as it just incentivizes folks to make farm ARCS instead of farm missions. No farmer worth a quarter can't do 4 consecutive missions). Take the same farm mission and duplicate it 3 more times. The cap is the only feasible way they have to limit the flow of tickets in the game (and as we've seen, it doesn't even do that since folks just quit the mission and "reset" when the cap is reached).
And you don't reset the mission you have a glowie at the start that you click to end the mission when you get close to the cap. That way you don't have to reform the team -
1) Base the xp earned off a mob on its settings. Not just if it is a minion/lt/boss. If I'm fighting bosses set to extreme they should be worth more than one on easy.
2) Give some sets xp bonuses because they are difficult. Give people some reward for taking more risks with the powers they give foes.
3) The current ticket reward system is fail. Reward them like infamy for each defeat. -
Dang he was too smart to try it. I'll have to be more cunning with my enemy choice next time.
On a serious note, how well can you lock down mobs? What kind of status protection do you have? What is your primary damage types? And how fast can you dish out the damage?
Once you figure those out you can decide if you want to use Minions/Lts/Bosses. No need to pick bosses if you can't lock them down and kill them before you face plant.
Then you can decide what power sets to give your foes. For example don't pick a pool with a ranged knockback if you have no knockback protection.
After that find a map that you enjoy and have fun. -
I'm going to go with this. I did some more searching and found at least 15 uncommon/rare IOs that are like that.
-
Malta Sappers are good xp. Really easy too. Put them in a cave map so they don't get spread out.
-
I purchased an Absolutely Amazing enhancement for 45 million and flipped it for 200 million. I didn't even check to see how my other toons did. Got to wait for the maintenance to end.
-
Crushing Impact: Acc/Dam recipes selling for 8-10 million as the buy it now price. 0 recipes available 300+ bidding for them.
Crushing Impact: Acc/Dam enhancments selling for 5 million as the buy it now price. 69 available.
Who's evil plan was that? -

The part of AE farming that bothers me the most (I know, I know, but we all have our things, right?) is the constant broadcast of "need hlr and tank" or "need damage". They're so set in the team buildouts because of the risk, that they won't just put together teams to play.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm impressed people are looking teams over fillers and that people want more than just a /kin now. On redside everyone but stalkers appear to be in demand for teams. I have only been on one team where a guy left because we had "no real tank". Oddly enough we had 6 MMs and 2 them were /FF. Who needs a tank when you have that?
As long as you have damage, survivablity, and crowd control any team over 30 should be able to take a boss farm. The fastest lvl 52 boss team I've been on had 5 corrupters, 2 MMs, and a stalker (I think the TL felt sorry for him). No one tanked and we were pulling in 3-4 mobs at a time. Darkest Night/Snow Storm to pull, 2xTar patch, 2 x freezing rain, Fulcrum Shift, then BBQ Time!
I haven't tried it but I imagine a blueside team of controllers, defenders, and blasters would be fun. I'd want a Ill/ controller for PA and a Kin.
People pick Dual Blades because their are no stuns, KB, or KD. -
I'm a little confused. You said

I'm sure if i was a little patient, and decided to farm the cim. wall 24/7 i could have gotten it for less, but that is ridiculous...

How big is the difference between "farming 24x7" and "farming the hell out of"?
