How long could you play just Death from Below?

Assume the whole game exists. So characters you level up can then play the rest of the game.

But imagine just playing DFB - on one character, multiple characters. You can try every AT and powerset, every costume you ever wanted. But just in DFB.

I really like DFB in that I like getting a team quickly, jumping into content, and little downtime. I also like lower levels (below 32) and usually delete characters that get to high. But 2-6 is very low levels.

I imagine a couple of DFB a night would get a character to level 10ish - the max that is usable in DFB. 10ish AT's. I suspect most powersets do not play all that differently level 2-6, so maybe triple that for 30 different AT/powerset experiences. So max about a month of playing for an hour or two each day. But that's max.

I might have fun for 2 weeks.

I love the new trial. I'm a seven-year (and three month) vet and already run the death out of the Atlas and Twinshot arcs and especially the content in the game up to level 20-ish. Any new characters I level up are by running Death From Below (DFB), usually to their mid-teens (14-16, depending on what powerset I'm running).

It's a great trial, lots of action, a good variety of enemy groups to fight, badges to attempt, and (if the team is large enough) Arch Villains (and Single Origin Enhancements!) ... and not one, but two monsters at the end. There's so much in it that it takes a lot of runsto get tired of it.

After the mid teens, when the leveling slows down, I find I'm getting *about* the same leveling speed from any team of eight on regular missions (though no AVs or SOs), that's when I make the switch to other missions.

I have a character that's leveling up via DFB. Anytime I get a hankering for organized chaos, I jump on her and knock out a few. However, I have a very low tolerance for repetition, so I tend to only do 3-4 before getting tired of it.

I tend to not do DFB on low level characters because I outlevel stuff so fast. I want my accolade badges and I don't want to have to flashback for everything.

I could do it four times in a row on any given day without batting an eye. Although lately it has become inconvenient to do due to jerks pre-forming teams and ruining the convenience of the queue.

It depends on what one defines by 'play'. If play means getting to 50, then DFB is a good way to level up. For me, play is kind of impersonating the character I made. I would like to get the toon through some story arcs and replaying the same story again and again is like Ground Hog's day. So I would probably play it 4x at most to get the buffs, since the buffs will help on later story arcs.

I have run the DFB on all of my long time established established characters to get the badges. It's a hoot to to see all my powers grayed out.

New characters I run through to get the four buffs then I start the signature story arcs then if able start tip missions. If not 20 by the end of the SSA's I do the midnighter club arc and the other specialty contacts.

Even the new low level stuff just doesn't hold my attention anymore after a few runs.

The sad part is that my character Sewer Ratty, who was designed to go from 1-50 in the sewers, is kind of redundant now... I mean it's no big deal anymore, people actually ARE using DFB to level up well past 10 or so.

I've used it to go to 22, but that gets pretty old.

That's what I do too, and after 4 I'm usually level 14 - helps alleviate the toon being unslotted till 17 (or 22) and they take what 10-15 minutes each.

About once per character for the badges is about it, even if I'm doing it to help speed the leveling, I don't really feel like slogging through it more than once.

...Wait. Isn't there a gigantic gulf between the two sewers? Don't the regular sewers cap out at 12 or 13, and Abandoned Sewers don't kick in until level 35? How exactly were you going to fix that?

OT: Maybe an hour or so - usually don't bother after level 12-18 depending on AT, I'll usually join a posi or PuG Scanner team at that point.

Once or twice a week is enough for me. Either on a newbie or someone who needs the badges.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

By regular sewers do you mean DFB? Because no, you can get to fifty on DFB, even at like 30 a single run is worth more than 1/3 to 1/2 your total exp bar

Well I've run it at least 1-2 times for all the badges on my main badger, EI.

But after 4 runs I'm usually "done."

I really haven't played the DFB beyond one toon getting to lvl 22 in/from it (but not all in one sitting).

I will say after about lvl 10 (?) I don't care to do it that much...I don't like seeing new shiny powers that I want to use and can't because of the lvl restriction

You're the level of the leader of the team. So by joining regular sewer teams you could theoretically get to 50.

That was the plan anyway. I didn't work too hard at it.

Blueside I've run it up to 4 times for each of the temps on a lowbie, which usually nets me around lvl 14 or so.

Redside I'll run it a couple times to get to 5 or 6, but then I go grab papers so I can easily get the early Invader badges (can be a pain to get the Atlas one later if you miss it). I haven't done it this way, but if I was being systematic I would probably DFB to 6, Atlas mayhem gets me to 7, maybe 8. Another DFB run or two to get into range of the next Mayhem, and by then I'd have the 4 temps and move on to other content.

I don't think I could repeat it through the 20s and definitely not into the 30s. MMOs are repetitive enough as it is.

I have a limit of about 2 sewer runs before I become bored and wander off. There's no way I could live in there and make that my whole game, as the original post suggests. City of Heroes is just too big and interesting to be limited like that.

It can be quite difficult to get a full-sized RED sewer going, and so if I notice one trying to start I will often join for a couple of runs, even if my character is 50 and has all the badges. Just being a good villain citizen....

Once per lowbie. My badger already has the badges, so I won't be exemping down for it ever again. I hate having all my powers greyed out. As for levelling, I don't really make a lot of alts so there are a lot of low-level AE arcs that I haven't played yet. Then again, I don't really care all that much about levelling speed.

I have started several characters since DFB arrived and used it on all of them. I generally stay for 4 runs to get all of the buffs and then head off to other things. This usually results in a character being around 14 or 15 so i head to Steel Canyon and look for posi 1 and 2... with my titan weapon brute that got me to twenty level in a hurry.

He has since done Synapse, Citadel, Sister psyche and manticore and is level 39 now.. one week after I created him.
