Agreed. It's the player that matters. Play whatever you think is fun.
  2. Almost everyday, but I'm on the Pacific coast, so I'm on around 8 PM PT. We formed a global chan to keep track of incarnates, so feel free to join:
    /chanjoin "beta itrials"
  3. On my prem accnt, I copied to beta and unlocked my toons there. There should be a shop icon. Click on that and buy 5 character slots. The click on a locked toon. It will ask confirmation, so click ok. The toon unlocks.
  4. SWTOR forum is that way --->
I hope you can make new friends there.

    Pandora's Box

I've played all the way thru as a vill. there is one glitch in part 3, but you can skip that and play part 4.
  6. IMHO, both games seem to cater more to solo play. I played CO before CoH and ended up with CoH because people actually talked to me and invited me to teams. In CO, people talk to argue about non-game stuff and you have to manually move the zone chat to another tab to cut out the nonsense. Also, players rarely team in CO because the rewards are better for solo, thus cutting down player reasons to team. Example:
Collect X items outdoors - only counts toward the one who picks up the item, not the team. Why team if you have to collect stuff individually anyway?
Mission holder lvl > 5 lvls to your lvl - reduced XP for you
Mission reward - 100% xp to holder, 30-50% xp to teammates unless teammate has the same mission

I haven't played DCU yet, but other CO mechanics turn me off enough to not recommend CO. For example, Bloodmoon is the equivalent of zombie apoc in CoH, but the zombies don't give any XP! And don't even bother trying to solo the Bloodmoon instance through the portal. No XP from killing mobs. XP is only rewarded if you finish, which is very difficult solo. Don't bother with the Dr. Destroyer factory. It is broken. In fact, before you do a big arc, check the CO Wiki to see if the arc is broken or not. It'll save you time and frustration. Stay away from Lemuria. Nice to visit, but not great for missions.

If you play CO, I highly recommend making another tab to monitor XP and rewards so you can tell if you getting good XP for your kills. I would even recommend completing quests instead of killing. A quest nets 10,000-20,000 XP while a kill is 100-300 XP. 10,000/100 = 100 kills. It is faster to skip mobs and complete a quest than street sweep.

You may also want to invest in ergonomic products to prevent carpal tunnel due to button spamming.
  7. My old trial accnt is premium, and has 5 characters. To unlock the other 3 on beta, I simply bought char slots. So just copy your toons via the transfer tool on the forum, wait around 30 mins or so, and unlock them on beta.
  8. Imho, it is easy to create a fighting game, but more difficult to create reasons to fight. I think the types of content should be created 1st and then make sure the powers can handle the content.

    I'm finished!

*applause* nicely done! I especially like the wings.
  10. Since you're already farming, how about changing the farm to Dfb? The enemies are easier and they dont damage as much. You'll need 3 ppl to join tho.
  11. You probably got the shards by now. Outside of TFs, the best ways to get shards for me is:
    - Cim missions, +1x8
    - Rikti missions, +1x8
    - on red side, snakes or nemesis. +1x8

You could run at +0, but the +1 sometimes causes more boss/lts to spawn and those are the ones with a higher shard drop rate. No need to run +2, 3 or 4. To maximize drops, you need to kill a lot, not a higher diff.

    VIP Gaming

I am playing mostly on the beta server to try out the power sets that I couldn't try because I didn't have enough PPs. Since I am on the west coast, by the time I log on, the east coast folks are going to bed. There'll be less players for me to team with. The best I can offer is to hop on Exalted during the weekends instead.
  13. In a pinch, you can copy it to the beta server where you can buy ios for free and emp merits are just 1 inf. After iod and T4d to the gills, head to rwz and solo a pylon
In fact about 4 players took down the mship shields and started planting bombs.
  14. For the more artistic/sculpty types, here's some blank bodies:
1/6 scale, Kghobby, Male & female
    Monkey Depot, Male & female
    Blankx, Male only

For customization, I suggest Cernit polymer clay for beginners and Aves Apoxie sculpt for more experienced sculptors. The 1/6 scale figures would be easier to make clothes and items for.
A visit to your local Michaels, Joans, and even the occassional dollar store can yield materials for armor and accessories.
I've made a custom Erik Lensherr (aka Magneto) in civilian clothing for my friend for under $30.
  15. My friends and I used to play the tabletop Champions game. So when CO went F2P, I played with them for a bit. I wrote up some notes:
    Silver Survival Guide

Here's other ones that I found helpful:
    Guides for Silver / F2P

    Hope this helps!

Both CO and DCU are F2P, so it doesn't hurt to try both out. For me, there are too many things in CO that I can't stand. After playing CO, I feel so spoiled and pampered in CoH.
  16. May I have Lot 18, Oblits? @Ms. Ivy Stone

    Thanks!
  17. Im paid till 2013, so I play to get my money's worth.
  18. Purp farming is in the mercy of rng, while ae is a guaranteed reward. So I'd vote for ae, rolling bronze. You will get about 140 recipes per 9999 tix, and if you only sell the top 50 recipes, you will make around 200-300 inf
  19. Can one be both a good and bad player?
I was dual boxing in an xp itf with my 50s, a corr & a brute. I dont say that i dbox.
Somehow my brute got on the bad side of the leader and got worse when my brute pulled rom & req *before* he typed to destroy pc, then hit rom & req. When rom & req came down, some players complained with colorful invectives, but my brute simply taunted r/r and held agro. Some lowbies were defeated by the phalanx, but not by rom or req.
Meanwhile my corr was buffing, tp'ing downed mates to safety, giving wakies, etc.
At the end of the itf, leader told my corr- you're a good player. Can I gfriend you?
No such request on my brute.
  20. One of my more memorable fights was against goddess heqat from sciro's pat arc. I was on my dom w my widow friend. I was about 2 months subbed, a very nooby player, so my ios consisted of whatever drops that I got since I didnt think I needed anything better. I was reluctant to spend my hard earned inf, so I didnt bother to buy any enh from vendors.
It was a long fight. My insp kept me alive and I won by 1 pixel of hp and an empty tray. Unfortunately, my widow friend didnt make it and lay next to the crumpled form of heqat. Still, not bad for subpar slotting against a goddess.
  21. I agree a lot with what wicked wendy said. I play this game because I like the teaming aspect. I have no problem if one plays coh like a single player game. However, in a team, everyone is playing towards a goal, be it xp, a badge, merits, etc. each player is responsible for their own at, but each one has to contribute towards the goal. A skilled team can accomplish the objective in 15 mins, while a not-so polished team may finish (not guaranteed) in 50 mins.
But the hardest thing to figure out is who falls in which category. I have my own notes and use the rating system. Additionally, one of my friends set up a global chan and we only invite players that we like. Sort of elitist? kinda, but it at least gives the leader a source to recruit from.

    Puzzled

    Re:
I can understand a melee toon wanting/expecting certain buffs.
What my buffing friend would say to this:
If they need my buffs to survive, there must be something wrong with their build, and they have no business playing melee.

I have no problems buffing mates, but the expectation that their survival and success relies on certain buffs indicates a very rigid playstyle and not adaptive to the situation. It is as if this player expects someone else to take care of their shortcomings.
However, I only partly agree with my friend since I think each AT has a role to play. I have encountered a kin who didnt take sb. The team did ok even without it. I think it's up to each player to play their at knowing its limits. Any extra buffing is icing on the cake.
  23. I made a mm, dom and a brute at about the same time. The dom hit 50 first, followed by the mm. I wasnt too impressed with the elc/shield brute until I got LR and SC. In a lv 40ish mission, the team was fighting paragon protectors. My brute got to the mob first and wiped out most of them. One teammate asked- was there a mob here? Then another teammate said- she (my brute) did it. My elec/sd brute has been my fav ever since
Im leveling an arch/ta corr, and it's surprisingly fun.
  24. I do a lot of what steelclaw does, except for the spreadsheet and leveling multiple lowbies. I plan the build in mids because I want to get the bonuses from sets, and there's too many powers but not enough slots, so need to pick slots efficiently. I start putting ios in at lv 18, starting with perf shifter+ lv 21, red fortune and react armor. Every 5 levels or so, I get ios from my storage base.
  25. [QUOTE=Jack_NoMind;4347413]Freeform? You *sure* you're on the right forums?

I wasnt clear. The freeform character was created in another game that allowed freeform characters. In this other freeform game, it is very easy to make a really weak character if one doesnt have background knowledge on game mechanics. I've long since stopped playing that game.
When I was on coh trial accnt, it's easy to roll many alts and enjoyed almost all the power sets that i've tried except stalkers.
