Constant Map Server Disconnects
What video card driver revision are you using? The reports I'm seeing still show the 11.9's as being the most stable version for most people. I've seen a few isolated reports of 11.10 or 11.11 working for someone but others are reporting still having trouble with them.
I've not had any problems with the 11.9 drivers myself, running Win 7 64-bit. As usual, I recommend following the established process of uninstalling drivers and CCC, rebooting to Safe Mode to run Driver Sweeper, then rebooting to normal Windows and installing the 11.9 drivers. |
I doubt this is a clientside issue, or at least a client platform issue. I had the problem on one out of 3 accounts.

I managed to enter the mission after rebooting my computer.

It's happening on Defiant too, sadly.
While entering missions in Steel Canyon - exact same problem - splash screen shows and then freezes at 10% load status.
Never had a problem before last patch either.

In-Game: Has occurred trying to enter or leave Cim, Steel, Talos, Atlas, Bricks, FF, Midnighters Club, Pocket D, mission maps, trials and bases. (will show the initial or pre-load load screen of Statesman fighting some robot, load 5% of bar and just stop before the zone load screen can appear)
Has also occurred logging out to charactor selection. Also logging into game after choosing server, will freeze up before charactor selectin option loads.
Follow up:
Just now. Guardian server.
Zoned to several zones on different characters red and blue side all worked fine.
Zoned into and out of mission worked fine.
So today it seems ok. Haven't restarted the computer or anything from last session where I had the crashed. But I did notice when I first zoned it went to that 5% like everyone was talking about. That is where I crashed before as well. But today it went there for a second, then back to zero and then loaded normally. Not sure if any of this is helpful but wanted to share what I saw.

Crashed 2 out of 3 times trying to enter sg base.
Crashed 4 out of 5 times, entering a mission in the AE.
I didn't try zoning everywhere, though. This alone made it nearly unplayable for me. Prior to Thursday, I had no issues with crashing in CoH.

No need to try to find any commonalities on the computers or software on them now.
Now the common things to search for appear to be servers and zone, and even possibly AT's and alignment.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

-Zoning out of at least 3 different mishes (again cannot recall)
-Brickstown to base

-Zoning out of a Death From Below

-Using mish teleport but do not recall zone to zone
-Pocket D to Faultline

To add information that Texas Justice was mentioning in his last post above, I've been playing mostly on my SS/Fire Brute (Magic Origin if that could matter at all?) but I also had played another toon which I had *just* made yesterday which is a TW/Dark Brute also of Magic Origin -- both of these toons are of the Hero Alignment, the first brute having started in Praetoria as a hero and the new brute started off in the GC turorial as a hero.
The one thing that I thought initially before it happened more than 3x was that it *all* started after I took the SS/Fire Brute to the echo of Galaxy City for badges and plaques...had no zoning issues so I then went to do the mission that allows you to save the mystic and get the badge needed for the Atlas Medallion accolade and instead of using the crystal to hit the contact I used the ouro portal to Atlas so I could hit my base first...that was the very first crash when I ouro'd to Atlas.
After that is was all pretty much downhill, I map'd coming out of the mystic mish then logged back in and used ouro to go back to Atlas and map'd again...other than that I honestly could not remember everywhere else I went...however, if the DEVS really want it, I can pull the chat logs which would show all the zoning and blips for times logging in and out since I record all my chat stuff but I'm not sure I'm up to filtering through it all!

I figured I'd give the game a go tonight. Logged into a toon in the Rikti War Zone. Used the Pocket D teleport power...
Loading screen got to 5%.
A minute later, I'm back in the Rikti War Zone, with a "Mapserver disconnected" displaying on the screen, and "No mapServer connection. Try again."
I'm beginning to wonder if it's the zone teleportation powers, like the base teleport power, mission teleport power, and Pocket D teleport power that are severely borked. That's what seems to start it up for me...
Again, same set up on my end, nothing has changed. This started with the Tuesday patch.
If I go to "Menu" then "Quit" and select either "Quit to Login Screen" or "Quit to Character Select", all I get is a blue screen with clouds on top...

... I rebooted, and 50 minutes later the game says that my account is still logged in?! Something is seriously wrong here...

Okie, I thought it may just be using the various zone teleportation powers, but I just successfully base teleported while in Boomtown. It also can't be a memory leak, as it occured twice to me within minutes of starting up the game.
I dunno. It appears to be truly random. But it's making the game unplayable, that's for sure.

I just posted about this on another thread, but add my name to the list of people that are having the EXACT same problem. I'm on the Virtue server, and have tried playing in Talos, Skyway, and Brickstown. I tried alternating characters, as I was wondering if this was somehow like the random server tray resets (some of my characters had their trays reset, some did not). Unfortunately, it seems to be a common problem with all of my characters.
I have had the problem while trying to team as well as trying to solo. At this point I've tried a Controller, a Scrapper, and a Corruptor.
My problem actually started this evening. I played last night until 2am this morning with no problems whatsoever and there have been no changes to my settings. (I even participated in Zwill's "Winter Assault on Atlas Park" on Wed night with no glitches).
I really hope this gets resolved soon.

Game crashed when loading into the first mission of the Imperious task force in Cimerora. Second lockup when loading into the 4th mission of the same task force (I think it was the 4th). Final crash came when trying to use the Ouroboros portal in Cimerora.
I'm having the same issue. Anything that requires me to zone in any fashion can trigger the disconnect. Zoning into missions, using Ouro portals, using the tram, etc. It isn't consistent, either. Sometimes I can go 5+ missions without any problems, then bam, on the 6th, I disconnect. Other times, I get multiple disconnections in a row.
Played my SS/Fire brute for 3 hours hoping to collect some data to help with this map/crashing thing and much to my pleasant surprise, I did not map/crash not one single time and I tried everything...
Used mish teleport power, PD VIP pass, ouro, tram, base teleporters...everything! Ran 2 DFBs on my new brute (the TW/dark mentioned in my last post) as well as a manti on my SS/Fire and not one single map/crash.
Will play again tomorrow and report back!

Same issue here; seems to be slightly more frequent going into missions than zones but that's not absolute. 5% bar on the white screen and mostly need to restart game.
Just fine once I'm in the zone.
Chalk up another one here. Exalted and Triumph server, been pretty much unplayable since the Winter Event patch. Every third mission or so i freeze up on the "Statesman vs Robot" screen and I have to use Task Manger to quit the game. As long as the mission/zone loads fine I have no problems though.
Makes me pretty mad since playing time is limited and I planned on getting some trials/TFs done this weekend while the girlfriend is working...
EDIT: tried logging in just now after freezing up 12 hours ago and it said my account was still logged in.
Wow! Seven plus years of playing and finally one of the bugs has hit me. I'm not sure what to do in this situation. Am I supposed to post complaints in multiple threads or just rage quit?
I'm not quite sure which option I should use if either. So for right now I'll just try to figure out why it seems to affect certain of my characters a lot and others almost not at all.

Hey I just wanted to put another voice in the crash on zone change hat. I also have experienced a very similar crash immediately after clicking on my server from the sign-in screen.
I play on Justice. I have crashed in particular zoning into Skyway and Independence port, and also zoning into the last mission of Statesman TF. There have been other crashes but I don't remember specifically which zones.
