Who will get Statesman's powers? The player or Darrin Wade?Or FAST power with freedom from the Well?

So we all know Statesman is going to die, who will get his powers? Well, in the first part of the SSA the obelisk is shown to be able to transfer powers and its revealed its PERMANENT when the person dies. This leads to a few interesting things:

1) What if Darrin Wade knows about the Coming Storm? The entire problem as depicted by Mender Lazarus and Prometheus is that getting power too quickly from the Well results in being consumed and taken over by the Well. This can be sign with characters like Hero 1, Statesman, and Lord Recluse as the Well of Furies takes them over and speaks through them.

What if Darrin Wades plan was to become a type of Vigilante Hero? What if he is killing Statesman for the "Greater Good?"

Think of it this way, if he kills Statesman and obtains his powers, he will then become an Incarnate at FULL power and be COMPLETELY free of the Well. He will have no connection to it. This is what players in the story are currently suppose to be doing. Slowly gaining their power to be free of the Well.

In fact, Lord Recluse has been trying to find a way to be free of the Well. This could be the way of fast power via the Well without becoming a slave to it.

2) Looking at the cut scenes from the arc, Malaise, who is now dead, did ask "Will the next person be the one I was intended for?" Now, it could be interrupted that this was Sister Psyche and the entire entering the mind, or it could be inferred (and the way I did) was that person was the one that they would be stealing the powers from and that Malaise was intended to be the beneficiary of receiving these powers.

If Darrin Wade was lying or manipulating so that he could get the powers, so be it... but this leads to point 3

3) Villains are part of this arc too, I can't imagine a villain just standing there and going "Sure Wade you take all the powers of the most powerful person on the planet aside from Hamidon, I will stand back and watch" -- Now, it could be written that the villain player is made to be a fool and tricked and does not get the powers after being backstabbed...

Or what if WE the player base do get Statesman powers?

What if Statesman's Powers unlocked a NEW INCARNATE SLOT OR POWER?

Imagine this, in the case of villains they steal Statesman's powers which unlocks one of the new incarnate slots (Or possibly a new Incarnate Power, like STATESMAN's JUDGEMENT POWER that slam the fist thing) or imagine if during the Hero Arc Statesman dying breath he pushes the Hero into the obelisk to transfer his power to them? The Hero player becomes the next "Statesman."

How cool would that be?

4) We the players could become exactly what Prometheus and Mender Ramiel wants. We could become a pretty powerful Incarnate by taking Statesman's powers or in the case of Heroes accidentally receiving them. This could be the biggest asset in the Coming Storm.

Thoughts?

I think you hit the nail on the head. I will place a wager of 1e9 INF that this is correct.

I could definitely see completion of the Who Will Die part 7 unlocking a certain ability (or abilities) for existing Incarnate slots, via some version of the lore you suggested, especially since I expect that last part to require level 50. So, as you said, upon completion of the last part, you now have access to another Judgement tree. (Access, mind you, so the unlocking of judgement and crafting of powers still has to be done the same way.) I do not see them unlocking an entirely new slot that way though.

I also do not see them giving us a "fast track," slave to the well or not, after being so adamant about "becoming an incarnate will not be a fast process." Speaking purely from a business stand point, a fast track would not be logical because the goal is to keep the players playing.

With the timing of his death, the end of the SSA and probable timeframe for the release of I22 and possibly I22.5, the "Death Incarnate" title for the Issue might have some link to Statesman too.
Although they said at the Player Summit that the title was linked to the new Incarnate Trial in I22 where Diabolique tries to tap into Mot's power to become death incarnate, and how Mot in general could be regarded as death incarnate because he's a god of death, they mightn't have wanted to mention any link to the death of Statesman, as that was still a secret at the time.

I'd sooner think Wade's involvement means the Power of Statesman (or whatever it's called) will somehow be applied to free or empower Rularuu. That suggests "new Shadow Shard stuff" to me, not "new player incarnate jazz." We'll have to wait and see.

I don't see it unlocking an Incarnate slot, because we don't even know yet if you're going to have to be level 50 to run the next part of the SSA. Furthermore, since non-VIPs can pay points to access the SSA, having it unlock or open up something that they can't get because they're not VIPs is... well, it's a bit mean.

And yes, I'm aware that there are Incarnate item rewards for the parts of the SSA that have already been put into the game. But they're not the only rewards.

My current pet theory is that Darrin Wade is planning to use the power of the Well of Furies from Statesman to either break Rularuu out of his jail or...

Darrin Wade is the mysterious one directing the Well of Furies. He wants to force Rularuu to basically drink from the Well using Statesmans power so he can control Rularuu.

I just don't see Wade as wanting this power for himself.

So who will lead the Heroes and be the poster boy?

I know they already got rid of Lord Recluse on the front page banner!

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

The red names apparently don't view it as a huge spoiler. Ergo, it is not a huge spoiler. Just sayin'.

A lot of people aint read that announcement thread because they want to find out in the arc as it happens They at least didnt put it in their title, people just asking that its not put in the title of threads ASSUMING everybody has either A) Read it and found out or B) Dont really care about the story.

Ergo, imo and quite a lot of others, its still a spoiler
