PC Gamer Review of CoH Freedom: "How free-to-play gaming should be done"
correct, the consumables will repeat, as will the ATIOs
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. Does tht mean we get a prize?
I challenged Z to give us the exact odds for the packs, or commit to doing so when the odds were set. As I expected, this was ignored.
|
I can't imagine why you would expect that to go ignored.
You demanded that a forum moderator give you specific numbers relating to a game feature that isn't even in beta yet?

There are many reasons why these numbers would be kept secret. Pretty much all of them are not to the benefit of the consumers. If Paragon expects us to believe that they're not trying to soak us for a quick buck, it would behoove them to back up their talk with numbers.
'Guaranteed rare or vrare' was their first attempt. It pretty much died a laughable death when it was revealed that Windfall counted as a rare drop.
It's still ridiculous to ask for information like that when it's not even in the testing phase yet.

They're a business. Their sole purpose is to make a "quick buck." Anyone who doesn't believe that is incredibly naive so I doubt they're really trying to fool anyone.
It is what it is.
Also, a significant portion of the playerbase is getting old and grumpy.

Or at least out from under Atlas' shadow!
Durned youngsters...
You know... it is rather ironic that this article came out and THEN Paragon Studios pulls the assinine move of charging you for Titan Weapons skins ON top of charging for the powerset....

Granted, they are much better than most of the basic 6. But they will be available basically for free at launch as an early-adopter sale.

During the initial launch of Titan Weapons tomorrow, if you buy the set, you get the additional 4 models for free. This will continue for a time (I've heard 2 weeks, but don't recall having seen any official statement of duration...). After that time period is up, all future purchases of Titan Weapons will only come with the default 6 models.
At some point in the future, they plan to offer the additional 4 models for sale, apart from Titan Weapons. That point in the future is currently TBD.

Biggest Troll on the forums? I'll give you a hint:
My only viewpoint, really, is that if they want us to treat it as a cheap point-sink trading card game...then the cards need to be cheap and trade-able. At least to some extent.
|
Anyone who has ever collected trading cards KNOWS that it's a gamble with real money. That's the whole POINT of trading cards, from a manufacturers standpoint. If they're really going to stick to the 80 point cost--then that's only ONE DOLLAR A PACK. And one dollar a pack is WAY cheaper than what the old trading cards I used to buy cost. So make sure I can trade with friends some way, and add some tracking component to the game so I can see what "cards" I'm missing and still need to track down. |
This is not a controversy. And quit treating it like a catastrophe.

Seems like a new thing that might work. You offer the lesser versions of the store bought stuff to be traded around so that anyone can get them and see what they're like. That seems like it would be a good way to spread the word about them and to advertise the value of the upgraded ones.

The costume set being spread across all rarities sounds nice on the face of it. However, what it means is that a (relatively) low number of pack purchases will get you most of the costume pieces in the set. Not all. Probably not the nicest and most significant ones, assuming the packs are designed by people who want to make money. Then you're chasing the pieces from the Rare and Very Rare brackets, where the Very Rare are competing with 72 ATIOs plus ATIO enhancers, plus whatever else is in that pool. Not such good odds.
