That's actually me.

Good plan, if its not broke....

I don't mind being the tester. 12.2. and 12.3 have been ok at least for me. However, due to not enough feedback, I have not yet given any sort of green light as to how good those are.

I upgraded from 12.1 to 12.4 and it gave me a really big performance boost!

The driver however has a general problem with HDMI audio out if you are using that, if your computer goes into sleep/powersave it will lose the audio link and only way to remedy that is by relogging your user.

It's clearly a bug in the driver but I'm trying different ways of solving this right now mainly by disabling all manners of powersaving and sleep for the display/PCI slots.

I'm using 12.4 without any problems. I don't use HDMI audio.

We don' need no stinkin' signatures!

Just a small note on the 12.4 HDMI audio issue, if you have a version of Windows that allows user switching (leave the account "logged in" with application states saved, but switch to another account) you can switch instead of log off (even if the PC only has one account), and it'll reinitialize your audio.

I'm not sure if the Home versions of Vista and 7 allow for this, but I know Windows 7 Professional does.

It's handy if you have a lot of startup programs, or don't want to re-open all your tabs, or whatever might be going on, while letting you leave power-saving features on.

Great tip, switch user is a good workaround, you don't even have to switch to another user just use the function itself.

I haven't find any way to prevent it from losing the hdmi audio link after idling too long even without any sleep or powersave.

Performance in game is excellent though.

Just a friendly advice: you would have better chances of getting multiple answers if you would open your own thread in the "ALL ACCESS: Gameplay / Technical Issues & Bugs" forum (i.e. the parent forum of this here thread). People are coming here for drivers info, they might not be able (or willing) to answer your specific question...

I have seen people open threads just like that, and they usually get detailed and relevant answers.

Using 12.4s on my 5850, Win7 64 bit. Seems to work fine with no crashes. I can't attest to the better framerate (and I can't say it didn't give me a better framerate either, I just didn't notice) but so far the drivers work for me, after several hours of doing stuff.

I am still getting that "invisible" outline around various things, like capes and such, with AO and AA both on. But I've given up hope of that ever being fixed again.

I had been (to my shame) using horribly outdated drivers on my Sapphire ATI/AMD Radeon HD 6970, and had been experiencing crashes (the CoH game, not my PC usually), "dropped" skins/bitmaps(?) where parts of the environment, creeps, PCs became invisible or solid black, and corruption of text in text baloons. I was also seeing occasional, massive hits to my framerate, from 60fps down to 3-5. I could usually fix all but the text corruption by using /reloadgfx.

I upgraded to the latest software & drivers supplied from Sapphire (12.4), and I have seen *maybe* one issue in the past ~two weeks. I haven't checked my framerate lately, but it feels like it is back up to it's old 60fps self.

My one issue is that I cannot get the control center to open. Something happened a long time ago and it stopped woking, but since I am not an overclocker, and everything else still worked fine, so I let it slide. When I updated, I uninstalled all ATI drivers/software, rebooted to safe mode and used a drive cleaner, cleaned my registry, removed any remaining ATI folders, rebooted and installed the new software/drivers. Fixed the graphics issues (apparently), but didn't fix the inability to get into the control center. :-\

NCSoft, Please reconsider your decision to close down CoH. It has an extremely loyal following and enjoys a great amount of free support from the larger community.

I invite everybody to add the above image to your signature as a petition to reverse NCSoft's decision.

Ok, I have a system running Win 7 Pro, I have a Radeon 6990 card, and when I last got the "new catalyst version available" message, I decided to give the 12.4 a try, since I'm using 11.9 now and I thought it might be time to update. When I let it do this, it got to a point in the update where the screen went black and never came back. After waiting a long time (60 sec?) I just turned the computer off via the power button and back on again, and it came back with the 11.9 drivers still. I wasn't running other programs while attempting this, and as far as I know my Windows stuff (i.e. Direct X or whatever) is not in need of updating.

Apparently letting catalyst itself do it's own update won't work, which seems really stupid to me, considering that the company's own software should, at the VERY least, be able to do this with minimal fuss. I mean really, all of the configurational stuff and extra bells and whistles that let you run two monitors or whatever is nice, but if there's ONE function I want Catalyst to do smoothly, it's updating (and rolling back) the drivers for me.

Can anyone tell me:
1. Should I just stick with 11.9 for the forseeable future (as I am doing now)?
2. Should I try to update to 12.4 and if so, how?

uninstall the whole catalyst software.

Load the new software. The more recent AMD updates past 11.9 have reports that CoH doesn't like crossfire. I don't have a dual gpu setup to test it nor do I want a dual GPU setup.

On the question as to upgrading or not, are you having issues with your current software that you need to? Have you looked at the updates to see if there are any improvements in the software you use? If the answers to both of these questions are "no" then don't mess with it.

Thanks Newchemicals, I'm going to stick with 11.9 for now.

I'm using 12.4 and it works just as well as all the others.

I don't know why I keep getting some occasional drops of FPS (usually at the D or during a CC... surprisingly not on missions) but that has been a trend since 11.2

I really don't know the cause of it and it does not mater if i go from Ultra to the lowest graphic setting, it still happens.

That would be my only problem, the occasional drop of FPS

I finally got around to upgrading from the 12.1s to the 12.4s today. Ran several missions and trials with no issues so far.

Im using 12.4 on an allienware M15x that has an ATI Mobility 5730 and for some reason in COx while at character select screen my GPU usage is at 99% (according to MSI Afterburner) but once Im in game the GPU usage drops to around 40% and gives me crappy FPS. If I window out of COx and put MSI Afterburner ontop of COx the GPU usage jumps up to 99% like I believe it should be. I don't have ultra mode enabled and the graphics in COx are set to Performance, this laptop should be doing a hell of a lot better than this. I know skyrim is a diff. animal all together but it runs nice and smooth with a pretty high graphic setting. Any help to fix this would be appreciated.

Has anyone tried the 12.7 beta drivers?

Played for a bit today after a few months break, and there was a ton of stuttering and hitching, especially when turning. Has me wondering if it's the drivers.

I'm testing 12.6 now. So far nothing to report.

Ran on summer events and missions with no problems.

If you are having issues Captain Fab you should start a new thread and post CoH helper.

Recently, I'm having crashing issues running three or more incarnate trials in a row, so I started reading through this thread. I'm running an ATI Radeon 4800 series (pretty sure it's a 4850) on Windows XP 32 bit. According to Device Manager, I'm also running driver version 8.791.0.0 from 10/26/2010.

Now, based on my own experimentation with other drivers (I'm talking about YOU, Logitech, and your stupid mouse drivers) there was a point of diminishing returns as they tried to tweak their drivers first for Vista, then Window 7. Their newer drivers ran glitchily here on XP, and their newest and shiniest drivers ran horribly -- and wouldn't uninstall, which made me have to completely wipe and reformat my then-only-months-old computer. [Grrrrrr!] As a result, I'm quite happily running outdated mouse drivers on purpose.

Since I'm still running XP 32, does anybody know if I'll be better off trying the newer, 12.x drivers for my video card, or would I perhaps be better off with 10.x or 11.x ones? Thanks in advance!
