I can confirm that my ATI 11.11 is causing random crashes in loading screens and sometimes just doing something completely innocuous, so glad I found this thread, I'm going to reinstall my drivers to use the recommended versions.
I so can't afford these crashes in the middle of Taskforces and especially not the iTrials I'm going to be running through in the near future.

I'm downloading and installing the 11.12 drivers today to test with my Radeon HD 6700 card. The game has been running just fine with the 11.9 drivers the last few months. I'll let you know what happens with the updated version.

Confirming that 11.10 is peachy with a single HD 6850.

The 11.12 drivers had no problems. Mostly spent time logging in a couple dozen different characters and making some costume changes. I did run a couple solo missions as well without any issues. I should be doing some more playing tonight and teamed so I,ll let you know.

Reports of people crashing on machines with supposedly "safe" drivers after 12/6 patch but no other common reason(s) other than the patch. I have not crashed as a result of the 12/6 patch using several different drivers.
I don't think city of heroes is the problem, I suspect the problem is other software such as anti-virus software.

Catalyst 11.10 at 1920 x 1080 has been fine since I last posted. Extended game play sessions with no crashes.

I just loaded the 12.1 preview drivers late last night after suffering multiple lockups with the 11.11 drivers. I'm running a 6950 2 GB and will post my findings this weekend! I'm crossing my fingers on this one!

I'm taking a wait and see approach to the AMD drivers version 11.12/12.1 thing that just came out. My rig is brand spanking new, and I do mean spanking, it's got an I7 processor, Asus Sabertooth X58 mobo, 240G SSD (CoH on the SSD, along with Windows 7), Radeon 6990 dual GPU vid card (one card with two GPUs on it, not two cards bridged together). And with 11.9 it was fine, with 11.11 it crashed about once per hour. Running Norton 360. Running CoH in ultra mode. I only use one monitor, so I don't care about Hydravision or whatever it is, and I only have one vid card (albeit a total hotrod vid card, but just one of them) so I don't know what, if anything there is to be gained by updating to 11.12 or 12.1. I doubt any new drivers could make the game look any better than it does right now with 11.9, and it's pretty fluid too, I just need it to do that AND be stable, which it currently is. My thinking is, if it ain't broke, don't "fix" it.
Radeon 6900 here - using 11.5 drivers - no problems in game whatsoever, will be not updating my drivers until I start to have problems. "If it ain't broke don't fix it!" is my motto.

Oh look... I can post. 5870 w/ 11.11b drivers. Zero issues. Base 11.11s caused lockups when I went idle.

I'm running the 5750 on Linux (Ubuntu 11.10), using the 11.12 driver, which I downloaded and installed today, and overall I'm getting excellent performance.
I have had my game go to black screen twice today, requiring a close/restart of the game, but that was over a 4 hour period (and the first time was at the very beginning), so it wasn't horrible. I was able to run several tips, a rikti invasion battle, and a longish Ice Mistral SF with no trouble at all.
I've been playing heavily solo, teamed, trials, etc since my last post. No problems with the 11.12 drivers at all with my settings and hardware.

Nothing new to report, while I have received enough mixed reviews on 11.12 to not stick it on the recommended list, I can at least update it on the unconfirmed list.
I'll test 11.12 next btw.

Ever since the TPN update, my HD 4850 has been overheating and killing my entire system when in character/costume selection, even though the day before the update everything was running fine with Ultra settings. I installed the 11.12 myself, but I'm too afraid to run CoH at this point to test.
Added 7970 to the list of Ultra Mode Graphics cards.

I have a 6850, windows 7 64 bits, Phenom II x4. Just installed 12.1 and 4 hours of play and no problem at all, so far.

Badging character: Bimble on the Union server, Badgehunter.com and City Info Tracker.
I now have a 4650 running wtih 11.9 in normal mode at recommended at 60 fps. Not bad for a 3 year old bargain card. Quality I get 40 fps with slight lag and Ultra I get 20 fps and lots of lag. No way am I going to try Ultra mode with this card.
