Nail on the head. I got to play B&S beta, and its combat is lodged somewhere between Tera and tab-targeting. It's sort of like a fighting game, in that you have dial-a-combo combat, otherwise it's exactly like every other imported MMO, just prettied up (I like his art style, but dat anatomy...)

I'd actually go as far to say it's TOO Korean. Like, if you could cut an MMO, B&S would bleed pure, concentrated Koreanese (Like mayo only...regional?)

At least it has Eli...Lyns. They're very cute.

You like Electric Melee. We get it. Thanks.

I'm not really seeing many alternatives to decreasing the activation time on ET and TF. Those two attacks deal very nice damage, the stun is good/great/varies, but their general damage output is anemic at best. EM is still decent for solo play, as you can stunlock your target rather easily, but outside that, the set brings practically nothing to the table except "lol stop hitting yourself"

  5. The thing is, changing Confront really doesn't seem like it'd be adding to Scrapper individuality. Scrappers are somewhat unique in their simplicity, and skip the muddy waters of Hide and Fury.

Changing Confront goes hand in hand with my "every power should be worth taking" thought process...

    Energy Melee

Underperforming single target archetype (Subjective?) gets buffed, every other melee archetype enthusiast is personally offended.

Underperforming single target melee set (Objective?) gets buffed, every other melee set enthusiast is personally offended?

Energy Melee is meant to be primarily a single target damage dealer, diluting it with MOAR AoEs just turns it into every other set. Speeding up TF and ET's animations to two seconds each would probably help quite a bit (I don't have numbers because I'm too lazy to math...) and reduce the amount of corpse blasting, which seems to be the set's current forte. Heck, someone said to halve their activation times, which would be amazing, but might be a bit of an overbuff (Over-un-nerf?)

Now THERE'S a QoL change many of us could benefit from.
  8. Scrapper New Inherent: Scrapperlock

Passive: Scrappers now receive a +1% damage self-buff for every teammate outside sixty radius.

    There, sheesh.
  9. Much appreciated

Ever since the TPN update, my HD 4850 has been overheating and killing my entire system when in character/costume selection, even though the day before the update everything was running fine with Ultra settings. I installed the 11.12 myself, but I'm too afraid to run CoH at this point to test.
  10. All this talk of added AoEs and MOAR STUNZ bewilders me. EM was the go-to for single target control/damage, and what, ninety percent of player suggestions is to turn it into just another hybrid set with a mix of AoE/Mez/ST/KitchenSink?

How about more like drop the animation times on TF and ET to two seconds each and leave everything else be...

    Sheesh.

    LAMBDA Crash

I can run BAFs all day, every day. Ten, twenty in a row. Zero issues.

Run a Lambda? Random FPS spikes. Run a second Lambda? Crash.

Run a BAF, then Lambda? Crash. Every time.

    I would require:
    - the person has to have moved away from the mission entrance, and NOT via /follow
    - the person has to have used a minimum number of targeted powers ( take the mission duration and say the person has to have activated "X" number of powers per second )
    - the person has to have used more than a certain minimum number of powers ( i.e. just spamming a single target heal over and over doesnt cut it )
    - the person has to have participated in each phase of the mission

    3. Once the formula determines that a person actually participated, make the rewards table random. (i.e. common=40%, uncommon=30%, rare=20%, very rare =10%, or whatever proportion they determine is fair )

    4. If the formula determines that they didn't participate, they get the crap reward.

Not perfect, but better than what's in place.
We enter Lambda. I take three steps and crash/mapserve/.pigg error. Immediately relog and rejoin and kill/buff/debuff to the end...and get 10 threads?

Another try...no aggro control holy pigeons everything's targeting me BLARG I dead...get back up SPLAT Walker falls on me. Sigh. Get rezzed, random missile NOVA FIST LOLOLOL oh lord my Attacks Per Minute is way down...ten threads...

Basically, per phase and Powers Activated as per trial duration don't work. Granted, these situations won't happen a lot. Many variations of them can, however.

    Everything else seems fine though.

    Everything went better than expected?

I mean, come on, throw Nerve a bone here, lol

Yes. I fooled myself into thinking I could tank Recluse.

Didn't help that I had no team buffs (Two Rads, both on the towers, and a Kin who SB'd once per mission and used Transference once every three minutes...)

Tell that to my Fire Tank who still got two-shotted through four small purple inspirations every time I hit Taunt on Recluse.

Except that it's anti-design to exclude 90% of the playerbase and punish them for not playing specific sets. In an MMO environment, your designs have to encompass and allow for flexibility and chaos. Buffed Recluse and Ghost Widow on the STF are great examples of bad designs that slap players for not falling into a specific niche (Defense softcap in this case).

In a Master run environment, temp powers aren't an option. And 'proper mix of powers' translates to 'softcap defenses, a Stone Tank, and a Rad'

    Talk about tunnel-vision...

Edit: That isn't to say that things shouldn't be difficult, or that everything in the game should be easy for everyone. Too easy = boring and uninteresting. However, a team of Tank/Support/Damage should be able to handle things.

The only exception of the above is Bubbles and Sonic do do something......unlike lamepaths and thier healbot inbred twin cousin lolpaindom. Bubble types actually protect the team.

Sorry kids, one fortitude isnt protecting a TEAM.

So, with all that in mind.....mostly its an ACTION sim this here MMO and FF doesnt bring much action......although bulldozing is funny.

    Neither please.

Energy Melee should be the king of single target damage, since that's all it really has. Buffing Whirling Hands? Meh. It's one AoE attack in a set of ST attacks. And like Mac said, adding AoE to Energy Transfer won't fix a whole lot. Actually, it might be detrimental, as they'd cleave Energy Transfer's damage to make it splash.
  24. Here's my problem: I'm an altaholic

I've played most of the primary Corr sets, and some of the secondaries. I've been trying to decide on a new Corruptor to roll for Going Rogue, go Resistance and end up blueside. My primary aim is to get a heavy -Regen toon for debuffing AVs so I've basically narrowed down to some combination of AR, Rad, or Sonic primary, and Traps, Rad Emission, Cold, or Thermal. My AR/Rad Corr is a beast (<3 Ignite on AVs), but Traps seems to be the contender for nastiest -Regen in the game. I have a MM with Traps already and was trying not to repeat sets. How do...

    AR/Traps
    Rad/Traps
    Rad/Cold
    Rad/Thermal

...stack up? Thoughts and opinions appreciated.
  25. According to Mids, Golgis DO increases the -regen

I can't confirm or deny it in-game however.
