But the best thing is that my history is indeed remembered even if logged out. Previously, the 'log out bug' would very annoyingly reset my history. That's not happening anymore for me.

Before the switchover to Freedom, I would get the logout bug MAYBE once a week. During the time period when a bunch of us had to change our passwords to get back on the forum, I changed mine (to the exact same password) and now I get the logout bug ANY TIME I close the tab with the forums in in. I check remember me EVERY TIME. It does not remember.

As others have said - I also check "remember me" when I log in EVERY TIME. And every single time I close my browser (even if I reopen it ten seconds later) I'm logged out of the forums again.
It is getting annoying when I check the latest posts on a subscribed thread - if I forget to sign in, no more emails for me until I sign in again so it'll send me updates again. This means on occasion I miss several days worth of posts getting emailed/updated on a thread.
But yes - every time I close Chrome (or IE when I've tried to see if it is browser specific), must log in again on the forums next time. When I leave the browser open, I stay logged in (but not sure how long because I loathe leaving my browser open any longer than necessary)

The fix is supposed to set it to 14 days? Well that's better than the "every time I visit the forum" which I have currently, but why does the cookie have to expire at all?
recently, I've noticed the login bug has abated somewhat... I've only had to log once every day which is consistent with the 24 hour thing.
The last couple of days I've remained logged in though - which is refreshing and could coincidentally be connected to the back end work that's borked the width?
From where I'm sitting the borkedness (is that even a word?) is minimal and quite liveable with - though I'm on Firefox 6 and I've not checked it on other browsers.

The only way the forums (for me) make note of what I've read is if I hit "mark forum read" and the purposefully log out. (and while it has not been common lately although still happening, if it logs me out while I'm in the middle of browsing or even logging in, it marks it all read.)
If I go away, come back, often I'm logged out and nothing read is marked such.
Also, it's still doing the "Different device/ip? LOGOUT!" thing to me, making it a pain if I decide to check the forums on my phone, then later at my home comp or even still on my phone but on cellular data or a different wifi network.
