Coca Cola....
Or it could be that they do it every year and coke's polar bear is part of the holiday season >.>
I wonder if companies budget paying for these news articles as "advertising".
'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.

Coke is changing the color of their cans and bottles to white and placing a mother polar bear and her cub on the can and bottle as well. They are doing this as a way to draw attention to the plight of the polar bears. |

Huh. Lots of cynicism here.
I don't care about the whys and wherefores of this. They're raising money for a good cause. I believe they were committing up to 3 million.
Good enough for me.

"And for us this is the end of all stories, and we can mostly say they lived happily ever after. But for them it was the beginning of the real story. All there life in this world and all there adventures in Narnia had only be the cover and the title page: now at last they were beginning Chapter One of The Great Story which no one on earth has ever read: which goes on forever: in which every chapter is better than the one before" - C.S Lewis, The Last Battle.

While I applaud the effort of trying to help the Polar Bears, and I particularly love the Cola Bears, as I've come to call them when they show up in the Coke commercials...
There's no saving them. They're doomed. Of course, the very idea of using ICE (which melts, mind) as a 'solid ground' to hunt from is just silly, and of course, a bear would do it.
I won't get into the argument of whether Man is responsible or it's just the world doing a cyclical change that's so vast we don't have any good records to say it's that... I'll just say that like many other species, you must adapt or die. This is one of those times.
It's unfortunate, but really... If it were that somehow Man were to stop its warming efforts, ore better yet, never have been involved in it... and the ice melted anyway? What are we to do then?
Methinks it's just advertising overall... but again, I do applaud trying. I think the money could be better spent, but hey, if it makes ya feel good, then it's pretty decently spent money.
/and no, I didn't read the whole article... these are my thoughts. If it's similar, then hey, logic works...
//Drinks DP10 and Diet DP, so probably not gonna help that much, sorry.

CocaCola has always given money to the save the polar bear things since they've been endangered and coke has been using the image.
Current estimates put the wild polar population somewhere between 20,000 and 25,000. That's around 3-5 times greater than the number of tigers (of all subspecies) left in the wild. Kellogg's needs to step up to the plate.

"We think this is a really bold move."
They changed...the color...of the can.
Beating off a mugger. That's bold.
Starting a new business. That's bold.
Standing up to your boss when he's so wrong he's about to implode into a wrong-singularity. That's bold.
Having Coke actually donate a significant chunk of their yearly profits to help polar bears. THAT'S bold.
This is just a cheap "warm and fuzzy" by people who wouldn't know bold if they were run over by the entirety of a 50-mile long convoy of it...TWICE.
I prefer Dr. Pepper.
