New Dominator set?

You're not alone. I agree. I'm not even purchasing any sets that aren't Control or Assault because, a) I don't want them, b) I don't have time for them. Make Control or Assault and they'll get my money and I will find time to play them to death and back... If they're not Autumnal (or what we know of it) at least.

The thing that bugs me here is that people are focusing on two things:

1.) "THE" new set. At no point have we been told that there is only one new thing coming for Dominators. There could be multiple new sets.

2.) "The devs are prioritizing the melee archetypes because there are more things that they are getting and I don't like that."

This second point is what really gets me. I can't deny that Dominators haven't received much in proliferation. That's because Dominators are a unique AT, and special considerations have to be made when giving them new powers.

I also can't argue that Street Justice, Titan Weapons, and Staff Melee are clearly a higher priority than Dominator sets at the moment. I would like to take this chance to remind everyone that all three of those sets have been requested (in one form or another) since well before Dominators even existed. Incidentally, Time powers have often been requested as well - also since launch, and probably before. Just because the devs haven't gotten around to giving your AT a new toy doesn't mean they don't care.

As far as Stalkers not getting Titan Weapons (off topic though it may be), that's really the least of their concerns - or at least it should be. The low hit point cap Stalkers have should be the top of their concerns. Fixing that would significantly improve the value of a number of Stalker secondaries. Really, the entire concept of the Stalker AT is somewhat outdated in a game that has evolved to basically kill PvP and heavily favor AoE damage over ST damage. But higher HP would at least make it viable.

id like some friggin LIGHT powers.. I mean seriously.. and no I dont mean Illusion.. I could see the Flash Powers but there is so much comic stuff with light its a shock that we really dont have a domination set based around that..

The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.

My current project is an Earth/Energy Assault Dominator. His energy blasts are colored gold/yellow to look like light. In fact, I based him on the Legacy Chain and Carnival of Light mystics. An actual control set based on light would be interesting. I agree that illusion doesn't quite fit the bill.

At some point the dev needs to be "fair" and figure out a way to satisfy all fanbase especially when they rely on people buying cash items. Yes, players ALWAYS want something but melee already got several proliferated sets and SJ. I think that's enough for issue 21, don't you think?

Dom didn't even get one proliferated set. I don't know why some people kept bringing up that Dom got Elec control. Every core AT got something new in Going Rogue, not just dom (dual pistol, kinetic melee, demon).

By your logic, there are always more people wanting to play Melee and Range specific sets. Let's just hand out all the candies and ask that Dominator child to wait for 4-5 months for his turn. And by the time Dominator has something new, guess what? Staff Weapon is on test again! :P And looking at how Staff melee works, it is going to be nightmare to design it for Stalker's needs.

They are rushing out sets. I don't mind having new stuff to play but we all know Dominator and Stalker are somewhat unique AT that require specific attention. If Titan weapon requires more time to be released for Stalker, then spend the time. They can easily add more different "large weapons" like a deadly scythe for stalker instead of a giant hammer. The options are there but they feel they don't have the "time" in 21.5 because they are rushing it. That's the part I don't like. Priority is not set straight.

If anything, 21.5 issue should include Dominator stuff since they didn't get anything in 21. I can't believe they ignore Dominator until next year.... I find it strange that I feel so strongly about this issue and I don't even play Dom that much anymore. I play mostly Stalker!

(And about your comment that Stalker is the least of their concern. I can echo that. Sometimes I feel they wish they could just get rid of this Stalker AT. It's a headache to balance an AT that is out-dated and has a bad design to begin with. I have never been to any convention, but can somebody tell me if any of the Dev mains Stalker? I know Poistron likes Dominator and BAB plays Tankers. I don't recall any of the AT mains Stalker? When I say "main", I mean he plays mostly Stalkers and not just in pvp. I believe every designer has his/her favorite.)

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

I think the dev is under-estimating Dominator fanbase. I would say dominator fans are extremely loyal to the class and they will buy the new sets.

Looking at how they push the new sets out, they probably think there's not much 'cash" in Dominator category.... and this part annoys me.

Yes, we all know melee AT is the most popular category but it doesn't mean nobody plays Dominator (and Stalker). Well, Stalker's problem is mostly their problems. Stalker fans have come up thousands of ideas to improve the AT but in the end, Castle said what's done is the best they can do. Dominator, on the other hand, is more popular and I see more people playing them at high level. Dominator is at least fun! Stalker is statistically weaker than all melee-counter parts. Stalker has the worst damage/survival ratio and Stalker is the worst at soloing AVs/Pylon. You can't fault people for not wanting to invest a lot of time in Stalker AT. I usually see quite a few Stalker between level 1-35 and then after that, this AT just vanishes.

Or not. Doms unlike all the other non-EATs haven't gotten anything new since Going Rogue. It's obvious that for whatever reason Doms are on the dev's backburner; even the poor neglected Stalkers have gotten more. It's not a good sign when everyone else gets multiple sets and Doms get none at all, and have none scheduled at least until next year; presumably not until next issue at best.

If you read the rest of my post, it would have been clear why that is the case. The devs are working on sets that people have been requesting since launch. Now that those are out, it's probable that Dominators will get something nice and shiny.

Or they'll just keep on making yet more melee sets. It's not like sets like illusion or dark haven't been wanted a long time too.

Some time ago Sunstorm (does he even still work at Paragon Studios? Haven't seen him in forever) made a post about how horribly interconnected Dark powers(and sets) were, necessitating a good deal of consideration on exactly how they wanted to move forward with any potential New dark sets.

It's possible that they haven't cobbled together Dark Assault because they want to make new powers for it, or that they only recently finalized their ideas for Dark, and decided to hold Dark Assault to release as a pair with Dark Control.

Well, obviously there's more work involved than simply cutting and pasting the power names into a spreadsheet or something

Still, it seems like we constantly hear that art and animation are what require the most time and expense, and most of that you would think could be reused by dark assault (and to a lesser extent, dark control.)

I also kind of think we're less likely to see dark/dark because they just got done giving it to blasters. Kind of boring if every other none-melee set that comes out is just another proliferation of dark.

I've been here since I2, and I can tell you that I've seen just as much call for a Dark Control set as I have for something along the lines of Titan Weapons or Staff Fighting. So I'm not sure that's really a good reason not to work on sets for varying ATs, instead of making 4 new melee sets and no new control sets.

"working" on sets is a bit of a stretch, development houses have masses of shinies on hold back for future plans, street fighting and dual pistols were announced as "must haves" back in issue 2 and theres nothing in them that would indicate taking years to get right for release, plant control was in alpha but didnt show its head till issue 6. Reason we are getting all these melee sets are because they are easy to make, a large amount of the playerbase run melee characters and they now have the micro transaction infrastructure in place to maximise returns on selling individual sets.

More will be coming, sadly non-melee sets will be a minority and control in particular (along with MM pets) will be neglected partly because the devs are afraid of them and cant quantify their use in regular terms (re spreadsheets). When I6 hit the devs for some bizarre reason beleived dominators were god mode when they were horribly, horribly gimp.

Dominators will get dark/dark because all the powers are already there in no greater or weaker form that relevent abilities in existing control sets, Im confident dark control is already made which is why there has been no attempt of porting of dark maisma to controllers secondary

Unfortunately it's true that melee sets will see higher focus. But that's for understandable reasons. As you said, more players run them. Besides, they affect 4 (well, 3 if Stalkers are left out) ATs as opposed to the 2 or 1 that new Dominator sets can affect. Melee sets are going to make more money on that fact alone, without even considering the fact that many "freemium" players won't have access to Controllers and probably won't touch Dominators. These new players are coming in from games where control is not a significant factor in most cases. So they are more likely to make DPS, Tanks, and Healzors.

Just because the majority of the sets we know of so far have been melee is no reason to assume that the trend is going to last forever. There are, after all, only so many things you can hit people with. Eventually they'll be forced to make sets for non-melee characters because they ran out of melee ideas, if for no other reason.

Dominators and Controllers are the only archetypes left that don't already have dark, so they're the only ones left for it to be proliferated to. How would that be "Every other non-melee set?" And obviously enough people disagree with the idea that Dark for Doms/Trollers would be "boring" particularly if they do make new powers for them (which they really may as well, since Dark Control would be shared with controllers, who would also likely get Dark Miasma, and if they just stole a bunch of the controlish powers from DM for Dark Control they'd have to make new powers to fill in DM anyhow).

New powers also explains why they didn't just slap together Dark Control or Dark Assault for the last proliferation, "just to give doms something." Because they didn't have art team time for animations.

Please people, let's be realistic.

Everybody knows the new sets will be Carp Control/Carp Assault.

I just hope they fix the bug where using leviathan attacks too fast make the sharks chase the carps instead of the target. Because if that makes it live I'm not paying for it.

And that's the trend I don't want to see and I hope we see less in the future. Sure, we all know there are more people playing Brute/Scrapper/Tanker than Controller/Dominator but this doesn't mean they should "ignore" Dominator for several months. We are not asking 2-3 new sets for Dominator. We just want something... even a proliferated set and even that hasn't been announced yet.

All those "new" players you are talking about, the old sets are just as "new" to them as the "new" sets. Those "new" people are not the determining reason why they should ignore Dom for months.

All in all, priority is still the issue. The priority of 21.5 should get some new Incarnate and get one Dominator set. Push Titan to 22 if time doesn't allow. Time is ONLY an issue when they try to work on Titan before Dominator or before they think about how they are going to port to Stalker. Now Stalker is left out and they may need to do a proliferated set in the future. Why rushing like that? Poor planning.

At the end of the day no matter how many people sit here and complain nothing will be done about the current situation, as much as i hate to say that yes melee AT'S have somewhat more of an important stake, at the moment.
you see, you all sit here and make assumptions, while at best i can see their true intentions, are still only assumptions, and lets be fair, we dont know any details apart from what we can already find out now.
Now for instance, this whole malarky about melee being a more of a concern just because they are releasing melee sets is not true.
this is just simply a phase, ok controllers and corrupters have hard time manipulation, titan weapons and staff melee will be coming for scrappers brutes and tankers, and street justice for scrappers brutes stalkers and i believe tankers.
my point is dont you think you all are overreacting a little?
lets just be patient and wait and see, and to all those naysayers who strut about saying they been here so many x amount of years, i couldnt give two monkeys, Autumnal Assault and control is the new dominator set whether they like it or not i am purely adamant about this.
And yes i have heard about people requesting for dark control dark assault, but also psychic melee, psychic armor and tbh the list goes on and on, doesnt mean it will happen.
Realise one thing, that you might want this or want that, the ultimate truth is that you get what your given, enjoy it while its there or play the game without it, who cares.

It's not just a phase; Dominators are well behind everyone else in the number of available sets. Even if they added a new one tomorrow, Doms would still be behind. Especially since I see no reason to assume that they will stop releasing sets for other ATs, maintaining or increasing the lead they already have.
