Discussion: Halloween "Mashup" Costume Contest on Exalted - Friday, October 28
It'd be pretty awesome if our Pacific and earlier players could join. 11am and 5pm are both covered by my work shift.

Silly Agge. They have no idea what normal work hours for people in the Pacific time zone might be.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
Can winners of those previous costume contests enter? 'Cause they couldn't for those (you couldn't place in both darkity dark dark AND crazy history).

"Play time with a community rep value: 0"
That did actually make me laugh Surely you could have put yourselves at a higher value than that Certain if you put yourselves for sale in the PP for "playtime" then you'ld get a ton of bidders
@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!

Why do I even bother ?

Yay! Costume Contest! Hope I can make it.
Ok, n00b question. Why is Rhode Island always excluded from these contests? I always found it humorous given it the state where Paragon City is supposed to be located and all. (I'm European so please excuse my ignorance).

Rhode Island has a special contest law. It requires companies to file a legal statement before they can run a contest in the state. In addition, the law requires the companies to pay $150 filing fee. If a company runs a contest in Rhode Island and fails to file a statement correctly, the company is actually breaking the law.
For companies that want to run national contests, the filing fee alone is a problem because no other state requires it. When you add to that the hassle of researching Rhode Island law in order to file the statement correctly and the penalty if you make a mistake, very few national companies are gonna bother.

And my fears become reality!
I had a feeling when during the headstart of i21 all events were held on Exalted while the other servers are being ignored.
Now another Costume Contest, on Exalted. *SIGH*
Look, it's nice that you guys hold a CC for people, but does it really have to be on just that server?
Not everyone moved to Exalted, not even with the monthly server transfers we get. I for one, avoid that server like the plague, the server transfers are collecting dust, and get more and more frustrated by the fact that the majority of the player base and it's servers are being neglected.
Yes, i'm a VIP, but does that mean i HAVE to move to the VIP only server? It seems that with the monthly server tokens we get, you, the Devs, would like to see that.
I have my toons, my SG and my friends on Guardian, i am not moving, no matter how many free server transfers you try to cram on my account.
I've seen a lot of people complain about these free tokens.
Yes, i totally understand the idea behind it, and i'm thankful that we get a little extra for being a VIP. All i want, and not just me, is a choice, is freedom. I hope that in the near future, we can either trade the server transfers we received, or, what i really hope, that we get a choice in a reward.
Look, it doesn't have to be the same value, really it doesn't.
Say we can pick from:
- Free Server Transfer
- Free Server Slot
- Free Respec Token
- Paragon Points (400-600)
So please, unless you can make cross server play available, for ideas see http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=256726,
please stop neglecting the servers that build this wonderful game.

The contests are VIP perks, and holding them on Exalted is the easiest way of making sure that all the contestants are VIPs.

I just transferred some toons on Exalted, and made some new ones. I like having perks for being VIP. This is one of them

As for the free server tranfers, I personally use them as free rename tokens.
Ya unfortunately both Rhode Island & Quebec have prohibitive regulations reguarding Promotions. It's bluddy unfortunate that they place so many legal hoops that most Contests (& Lotteries) find it way easier to just exclude residents from that State & Province.

You don't have to move any existing characters to Exalted. Since this is a costume content, you can make some new character there. If this was some other event, you could move an existing character and then move him back and ask your SG for a reinvite.

I understand that the SG will not loose it, but the toon's slate will start at 0.
This is one of the main reasons i don't just send my toons on vacation to a diff server, esp not for an event where my chances are slim to none to actually win something.
As for making a new toon just for that event, as stated, i avoid that server like the plague, making a new toon just to join an event makes me look like a hypocrite.
All i want is that they don't forget about the rest of the servers.
And to someone else.. Please, don't make an assumption and think that that is the reason. When you assume, u make an a$s out of yourself.
And if this is something to show their VIPs some love, and show them that they are appreciated, does that mean that the VIPs who stay loyal to their home servers are not loved? That the players who played for years, and now came back are not loved? That the free players, trying this great game out, are also not loved?
Free players are being very, in my opinion too limited, in their actions. Showing them that we have Devs and a team that does not distinguish Free, Premium and VIPs but treats them the same, would make them see that we do have the best team in the business, make them see why this game is so loved by it's players, why they should stay, why they should become VIPs, become veterans to this amazing game, and maybe even bring their friends from the other games they play(ed).

I was wondering who to contact in regards to my Grand Prize. One of the game time codes has 'Expired', after trying to use it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Join us in Pocket D on Exalted, our VIP server, on Friday, October 28 for the return of our official themed Costume Contest!
The first one will take place at 11:00 a.m. PDT / 2:00 p.m. EDT (7:00 p.m. BST / 20:00 CEST) so our European players can join in, and the second will start at 5:00 p.m. PDT / 8:00 p.m. EDT on Friday, October 28, 2011 (1:00 a.m. BST / 2:00 CEST on Saturday, October 29, 2011 in Europe)!
This month's theme will be "Halloween Mashup"! So come along wearing your best mashup of Halloween concepts! Please note, the use of Copyright material is not allowed and will get you eliminated from the contest!
You're all out of inspiration or don't quite understand the idea? Let's take a clown and let's take the concept of horror. Now, some might say that a clown is already quite horrific in itself. But if you show up as a clown, all you'll be is a clown. Now, to incorporate "horror" into your costume, you'll need to be creative and add a few horrific elements, like an exposed brain for instance or mad eyes. But that's just an example, you can be much more creative than that! Take a widely known Halloween concept and add your twist to it!
So, crank up the proverbial heat and dazzle us with your mashup! And please, nothing too esoteric or obscure or you'll run the risk of us not quite understanding what combination you went for!
Head over to this page for the City of Heroes Freedom Costume Contest Official Terms and Conditions.
We're looking forward to being spooked on Friday!
