Whereas I'm willing to pay more if it maintains quantity and/or quality above what we received before. Now "quality" of previous powersets is super subjective and was probably not uniform in anyone's opinion, but I'd take a stab at roughly measuring it on the basis of a powerset that has enduring popularity after release comparable with existing popular sets.

I did think of something while typing this. $deity help us the first time they have to nerf a powerset people paid money for. I think the forum servers might catch fire.

When I 1st realzied they'd be charging for Powersets I felt this way as well. But then I realized the truth.

ViP accounts are exactly as they used to be when you think about it.

from 2005 to present, spending $15 a month got you everything except boosters. This included 1 or 2, sometimes 3 brand new powersets a year.

Freedom already brought us Time Manip for free and the Dev's are on record saying they will still be giving ViP's free sets.
So in essence, as a ViP, you've already gotten this years free new set.

What charging for new sets allows, is the creation of even more sets. If they weren't generating revenue specifically from them, they wouldn't be able to justify the time/expense to create them.
So Street Justice, Beam Rifle, Titan, Staff et al would not even exist if they weren't charging.

You can look at it that way, imagine any new set in the store doesn't exist and at the end of the year, you'll still be able to say you got X and X set for free, plus you'd be banking a ton of points.

ViP's are getting more any way you look at it. Not only are we getting the usual allotment of free stuff, now we have the option to get even more!

I'll gladly pay $8 for a new set if it means the set gets made to begin with. If paying for Street Justice means 3 additional sets will be made thats outstanding!

It's all in how you look at it. I went from being upset and feeling like my loyalty wasn't being honored, to actually realizing what was up and being thankful, almost overnight.

A slight problem with that is a subscriber used to get costume parts (not many), powersets and quality of life upgrades as part of their sub.

Now if they want all three they have to pay extra.

Personally I find that a bit iffy, but if it was the only way the game could keep going.

Well the points not spent on powersets we normally wouldn't get release in a year could go to costumes, I don't see how anyone is getting less.

Fact is, we're still getting costume parts, powersets and QoL upgrades as a perk of being ViP. IDF was free and the gunslinger set most likely will be as well.

That's the thing. It's to early to know anything for sure. We can speculate that a year from now, all extra goodies will be paid for at all tiers, but that is merely speculation at this point and quite frankly, indications are it won't be that way at all.

Out of interest, what makes you think the Gunslinger costume set will be free? If its anything like the costume art it will have had a lot of work put into it.

I mean they charged for the Barbarian set, which had a lot of work put into it, they also charged for the thorns set, which doesn't seem as polished. So what indicates the Gunslinger set will be free?

With the current price points - the problem is they are using the oldest trick in the world to milk you for more money - greed.

You COULD wait for your ponts to accumulate to buy stuff but them others will already be playing them - (not realizing the Devs and Marketing are playing YOU). Your points don't come out when the sets do - they come out when your sign on date comes up. So yes, they are marketing you out of more cash and if you are the from the I want it now group of people - a fool and his money are soon parted.

I don't say this to flame troll or otherwise disrespect you but keep these things in mind about me.

I'm tough enough you can try to hate me all you want, doesn't bother me. Pretty much because I don't need you. Easier to hate than to respect and I love a challenge and disdain doing things the easy way. As in, I don't hate you for your opinion of me, I respect that you had the stones to say that. Not sure about your motives though but that's not my concern.


Anyways, back on topic. After playing with Street Justice again for a day, and after reading Intrepid 13, I have to say, I can't wait to hit 33 and have all StJ powers slotted. So far I've loved this powerset at every level, and the power spikes at certain levels have been astonishing. It always impresses me how much of a game-changer it is to have Combat Readiness and a Finisher and then to get Spinning Strike. I'm sure there will be future power shifts as well, and I relish getting to those. I also look forward to hitting people with forty-pound hydraulic powered fists that resist smashing damage to the point that I have to up my game another notch or two.

One thing I wanted to ask: What has everyone rolled? I re-rolled my beta StJ toon, a Tech StJ / Energy Brute, and have very much enjoyed having him back. So, out of curiousity, what toons did you guys and gals roll? I'm also curious how StJ pairs with Shield, how has that worked for those who did so?

PS, to Zwill: As tribute to your OP in this thread, my 7' tall war-robot's battle cry shall be For Great Justice. (Partially because BETTER - FASTER - STRONGER is too long for F10, but mostly because I hadn't thought about AYBABTU in years, was good to dust off those memories.)
