Same thing with me, I added up the months since the Freedom announcement and came up with 1200 points. When I logged in and saw 1600, I presumed I did the math wrong.

My main account:
400 - July 1 pre-launch pp
400 - August 1 pre-launch pp
400 - September 1 pre-launch pp
400 - Freedom is live, September's official points package
= 1600 pp

Similarly, my first preemie account:
400 - July 1 pre-launch pp
400 - August 1 pre-launch pp
= 800 pp (wasn't active in Sept)

And my second preemie account (damn you $1.99 sale!)
400 - August 1 pre-launch pp
400 - September 1 pre-launch pp
400 - Freedom is live, September's official points package
= 1200 pp

There's a red name post by Beaststyle somewhere on the boards about this, it was linked in Virtue help chat when the issue came up but sadly I can't find it now

The way I understood it was they front loaded your first 400 subscription points when the headstart went live. I think the confusion comes about because if your subscription rolled over *before* the headstart began then this would be the points from your next payment, it's not necessarily the 'september' points.

No need, Forbin found it at the start of this thread.

So let's say my renewal date was Sept 26 (which it was on my 2nd account).

If I'm reading this right, I could have let my sub run out, waited 4 days, and then renewed my subscription on Oct 1, and that would have netted me my points almost a month early?

No. Then your sub date on that account would have been reset from the 26th of the month to the first of the month and you'd have to wait until Nov 1 for your sub to renew and get your next set of points instead of Oct 26th.

So, I could use a little clarification, then. My billing date was today, October 2nd, and my account has been active since Freedom came out. I've noticed that my billing date on my account has now changed to November 2nd. I received a character transfer but never received any points. Is that because I already got my points for September with Freedom's launch or am I supposed to be receiving October's points now?

You should receive Points today. When today? Well, that's hard to say.

If you haven't received them by tomorrow morning, I'd say file a Support Ticket.

Ok, thanks! I'll check my points total tomorrow and see if it changed at all.

What if we subscribe using game cards? I buy a 60-day game card every, well, 60 days? Have they said how they plan to handle those?

If I remember correctly, the billing cycle still "renews" on a monthly basis, and while you'll have 60 days pre-paid, you will get 400 points on the day that the new time card becomes active, then another 400 points a month later. For example, your new time card activates October 3rd. You get 400 points then, and 400 points again on November 3rd.

Same applies to 3 month, 6 month, and 1 year subs.

Let's say your billing date is October 5.

1. Sever Transfers are awarded on the first of the month. (i.e. October 1)
2. Paragon Points are awarded on your billing date (i.e. October 5) - however, Freedom launch was frontloaded with extra PP, so if your account was active during launch, you got extra PP. Therefore, if your billing date is before October 11 (according to a GM), you won't get your PP until October 11
3. Paragon Reward Tokens are awarded at the end of your billing month (i.e. November 4)

Yes, this means that anyone whose billing date is October 1 through October 10, you won't get your PP until October 11.

Yes, that means the rewards are all on a different award date. Yes, that is kind of dumb.

I sent in a ticket about this a few days ago (not having looked in the forums first) and the gist of the reply I got from the GM who contacted me was that VIP accounts that received bonuses (points, tokens, etc) on September 14th when the head start took place would not be receiving points until at the very least October 11th.

Good to know that the tokens are backloaded and not front loaded though. I hadn't realized that.

Meh, it's a brand new system being implemented so I expected a few bugs. Having to wait a few extra days to get the kinks out of the first cycle is only a minor inconvenience.

Glad to see the people at PS are quick to respond with an explanation rather than leaving us hanging wondering what's going on.

So, am I getting this right?

I've been active since the game went live (April 28th, 2004). Since my billing date is the 28th, I don't get my points until the end of the month. Someone who subbed on the 1st of the month at any point after me gets their points on the first of the month (except in October 2011, when they get them on the 11th). Let's call this person Steve.

So in September, I got my 400 points (I actually get the bonus for being at tier 9, but let's use 400, because Steve is at tier 9 too, and I don't remember what the bonus is), and so did Steve. In October, Steve gets his 400 points on Oct 11th, and I get mine on Oct 28th. For every month after that, Steve gets his points on the 1st, and I get mine 27 days later.

This effectively means that, assuming we both stay subbed for the exact same amount of time, Steve gets 1 month more worth of Paragon Points than I do, simply because he subbed later than I did, and it happened to be on the first of the month. That's kind of weird.

Correct. VIP points doesn't care about when you created your account prior to Freedom. VIP points began on September 13; anything before that is irrelevant.

HOWEVER...you will in the end, end up with the same amount of points if they ever end the points system. He will get his last block on the 1st and you will get your last block on the 28th.

You can, of course, let your sub lapse three days until the 1st to correct this perceived imbalance. Then both you and Steve get your points on the 1st.

Huh...

So, if I have a billing date on the 14th my next token award is going to be in the middle of November? (Since the one extra I started with when things went live last month was supposedly the one that would normally have been awarded in the middle of October? o_0) That's.... bizarre.

No. The only way you won't get points on Oct 14th is if you let your account lapse on Sept 14th for 30 days and reactivated it on Oct 14th.

I think the game will end when the point system ends, so that really doesn't help.

That would only work if I had a time machine, and could do it prior to Freedom going live. Doing it now would remove any argument against the idea that Steve got 400 points more than I did, as there wouldn't be a 3 day window where we had the same number of points.

It's weird that the day the game went live is one of the worst possible billing dates to have.

No one is getting more points than anyone else each month other than vets that unlocked the extra 150 bonus. Points are awarded on a monthly cycle that begins the previous month and is awarded on the renewal date of the current month.

If your renewal date is the 14th then it started in August 14th and ended Sept 14th with the points being awarded in Sept. Octobers period starts Sept 14th and ends Oct 14th.

Each month? No. I'm talking about a one-time advantage. It's not a big deal, but it's weird to me that someone who has been active since release gets put in that position.

What one time advantage? The extra points the devs awarded players that had accounts active during July,August, and September? If someone didn't have their account active for one or both of those months they aren't eligible for them. Everyone else got exactly what they were supposed to.

Again, not a big deal, but weird when it means people who have been active since release get their points 27 days later.
