I heard from someone else that he was able to get on one of his expired accounts (but not another), so it seems like some sort of trickle has been let in, though it may have been by accident.

I am unable to access my old accounts either.
This is intentional.
We're going to be slowly reactivating inactive *premium* accounts (new players still may not create new free accounts). This is a slow ramp up and the process will take time. We'll put up a Community announcement at some point, however glad you guys noticed.

...so these people that now have active freebie accounts that used to be TRIAL ACCOUNTS are somehow Premium? How did they get to be Premium accounts, exactly?
How are these activations being handled? By age? By time since last renewed? Randomly?
I really don't like this setup, to be honest. :/ If Z can get in for free, so should ABCthroughY.

And the process is a gradual one...migrating millions of lines of data is not something you flip a switch on. Ask any DBA and they'll tell you that data takes time to transfer. Additionally, a slow ramp up is the right move to make for many reasons.
I'm not privy to the order in which these accounts are being migrated. I would venture to guess it's random or by some type of sequential DB ID field, however, as always, I'm no DBA or Engineer.

So when will it actually be free to new players? Can you give a rough date on this? Like by december? I know a few people who want to join but they want to try it out first. I would just send a trial to them but that option got removed on the account screen.

Okay, so, I have two active accounts right now. One is currently a VIP account, but the sub expires in mid-October. If I let it lapse, will it become Premium, or will I need to wait until it gets "migrated"?
