I often build characters based on Synergy - the combining of 2 or more items to make it far stronger than each individual power can be.

So as I pondered Sloe D'Jinn was born.

Now to build synergy - Smoke, Flashfire, Hot Feet, Time's Juncture, Distortion Field
and Fire Cages create a world where you the controller can pause and sniff the roses as you melt everyone back to their component elements.

You can slow the world down for you and your team and with further powers in your chain Time Stop and Chrono shift you become a Medusa in a world full of statues. Then your imps wander in and smash the statues

Any ideas for epic pool? I thought Power Boost would be nice for Farsight, but since I will be in melee range a cone is not so hot... any suggestions? Hm I might want conserve power though. I am undecided between Primal Forces and Stone Mastery.

I am also thinking of Powerboost as that alone without IO boosts puts your defense at I believe 40% ish?

It also appears to take about 300% recharge to get perma shields. Not sure yet as several possibilies are out there.

Do you cap defense or work to increase control and damage? Best defense is if nothing is moving

I just started one of these instead of a more thematic grav/time.

You're right. It's *really* a fun combo.

If defense is what you are looking for, Primal Mastery is the wrong pool to look at. Power Boost only gives Farsight around 11 extra defense, which is notably less than any of the other epic defense shields even before they are enhanced, when enhanced rock armor can, for example, provide over 20 defense.

Primal Mastery should be taken if you lack good control, so you need power boost to enhance your controls and extra mitigation from the knockback/down.

For fire/time, i think either stone mastery or psionic master is best. Psionic mastery gives you a good blast and PBAoE attack, and a decent shield and mez protection(world of confusion sucks, don't take it).

Stone Mastery gives you a great defense shield, a heal, an amazing melee damage/hold power, and a great melee AoE damage/control power(Hurl Bolder's animation time just isn't worth it).

Even Ice Mastery gives you a blast, an AoE slow/damage field, and a great defense shield.

Not if what you're after is defense to everything. I know respeccing my Fire/Kin into Stone and getting nearly softcapped to S/L has made me very aware of how much nastiness is energy or psi. I'm not satisfied being able to laugh off the attacks of Werewolves, I want to be able to laugh off the attacks of IDF too.

I spent some time messing around with a Fire/Time/Primal build in Mids today, and the way it can get near or above softcapped to pretty much everything is so delicious that I'm seriously considering making one even though I'd previously sworn off on making another Fire controller.

I am wondering here. Does Fire Control need any defense when it its paired with Time Manipulation? I know there are a few controlling primaries that requires the Fighting Pool for added Tough & Weave, Fire Control primamary is one of them. Ice Control may be the other, I would have to back track a few threads to find comments mentioned by professors of the, Controller AT sorta speak. I know that I can skip defenses totally with a Perma PA Illusionist Controller for they at most times hold aggro and too, I have to keep a safe distance away (in the air is best IMO). Although Fire Control is a melee ranged Controller ...

Anyway, I find this combo very, very interesting even after I has put my Fire/Kin and Fire/Rad on the back-burner long ago. And, Infernus_Hades describes this accurately in a brief detail of how it plays. I WILL SAY that this TOON really HAS ME Feeling like its Christmas Eve at 12 years old. My Fire/Time is presently at lvl 33 and I cannot wait to get it, it's Incarnates as T4. It will take time to master this AT type and perfect it's build.

I dont get the pun. Is djinn supposed to sound like down? Thats all I can guess, and its more than a bit of a stretch, even with the different ways I have heard djinn and its spelling variants pronounced.

Sloe Gin is gin flavoured with Sloe berries.

So Sloe D'jinn is a play on Sloe Gin, but where the two component words also play on the features of the primary and secondary (A Djinn is a demon / spirit type usually associated with Fire Magic and Deserts. Time is good at slowing things down)

not necessarily since the apostrophe isn't a native use in english for anything other than conjunctions, which ignore the apostrophe. d'jinn isn't an english word, it is islamic in origin. so they revert to the native pronunciation, which ignores the d' altogether, making the word just sound like Jinn, or Gin. (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/djinn)

A friend of mine recently tuned me in on this power combination. I've been trying to work it out on mids to solve the huge endo consumption problem. I know at 50 it's readily solved by incarnate slotting. But until then,... any suggestions?

300% to perma what shield? fire/time doesnt really get any shields, and farsight is perma with hasten and a few rech SOs

and if your running perma powerboosted farsight then you shouldnt have any problems with defenses since you will be able to get to 35% with few to no IOs, so i would focus on control/dmg and end management (fire/time i can forsee being extremely heavy end wise without incarnate powers, conserve power will help though)

Mine is in the mid 20's right now.

I solved the End issue (for the most part) by getting a Perf Shifter +End (with
a single A-Merit), and Frankenslotting End-intensive powers (esp HotFeet) with
plenty of End reduction.

So far, that's been working quite well.
