Doctor Who: The God Complex 17/9 (9/17)
Sorry to say, but io9 has the scoop that new Who may not be back until next fall, nearly 9 months after the Christmas Special this year. No word on if there will be a midseason break or not.
which is true because of the olympics next year

Finally saw this myself last night.
Seriously, it's tough to grasp the strategy of someone who can time travel and lies. Nothing is at face value and nothing is guaranteed to be in temporal order from the viewers point of view.
I'm pretty sure the ganger Doctor is involved in someway. Makes me wonder if the Doctor who's almost killed by River is actually the ganger and River's sacrifice charged him with the energy that got dissipated when the Doctor was killed at the start of the season.
Trying to figure this out ahead of time is like going through the maze in Colossal Cave.

But yeah, this season isn't over by a long stretch for two episodes to go. I thought there was no way he could pull off last season, and then he has the TARDIS go and reignite the universe and Amy Pond reimagine the Doctor back to life.
As for Amy, Karen Gillan is quoted in an interview as saying that we're going to see big, big cracks form in Amy this year, and I think it culminated in her letting go of the Doctor as being her savior and seeing him for who he was, even if she still deeply cared for him. And I think it made the Doctor feel better to have sort of helped 'heal' her. That line of River's back at Demon's Run about the Doctor being less and less like his title suggests has really stuck with me, and I wonder if he's not considering that more now that he has a firm 'death' date in mind.
But no...this Doctor is wickedly clever and guarded, and has planned so much ahead it's going to make our heads spin. Again. I frankly can't wait for the day when Ten meets Eleven and Ten finds himself horribly and devastatingly outsmarted...
...which I think will happen after this year's Christmas Special. Next season is spread over 2012-2013, and Moffat is very aware of the 50th anniversary. And there is no way that they can't do something humungously awesome for that....

I'm really hoping Christopher Eccleston doesn't keep being stubborn and refuse to do the 50th anniversary, because I feel like him not being there would just ruin it.

personally, I'm hoping the 8th Doctor gets brought in on the 50th action. He could really uses some canon stories that are not argued over for every detail.
Multiple Doctor stories aren't canon anyway, are they?

The Three Doctors originated Omega, a character that came back later in the series, and some assume will soon be returning to the show..
The 25th anniversary show, The Five Doctors, fleshed out the back story of Rassilon a bit.
I never saw the others, but these sound canonical to me.
are you thinking of the last one, the 5th/10th mashup short? That one ended with the start of the start of the Starship Titanic story.

And both "The Five Doctors" and "The Three Doctors" would likely be in my top ten favourite Doctor Who episodes.

I consider Time Crash to be a canonical retcon too. Simply because it's freaking Peter Davison and David Tennant in an episode together as the Doctor.
My understanding was that the various Doctors lose their memories of the events they've just partaken in, since otherwise (they|he)'d be crossing (their|his) own timeline and have direct knowledge of (their|his) own future.
Or just wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey.

Wanna know something funny, we're talking about this and I'm watching the extras on the Five Doctors DVD...
Not because of this conversation, I just happened to be watching it.

that has my over active imagination wondering what nasty thing Father Xmas said about Dawkins that he decided to go back and change.

No, it was just to go back and include Forbin's quote so people would have some vague idea of context.

It's also possible he didn't like apples because he'd just regenerated and stopped hating them once he'd stabilised.
