Problem is, "Reveal" (the power you reference) isn't sticking either. XD If using that worked permanently, I wouldn't be as annoyed...

Also noting that some zones are completely unaffected as well. Sharkhead is still perfectly visible to me, even with several pass-throughs. But AP, Pocket D... nope, have to reapply the Reveal regularly, every time I go through.

This is happening with my characters on Freedom.

I have a new character where almost the entire zone is showing as revealed.

Then I'll start up older characters, and the entire zone is showing as never travelled.

Nice how they're breaking stuff that has been working fine since the game's inception.

I agree with that as well. Even if I had reveal I would never use it on mission maps. The black parts tell me where I haven't been for those occasions where I've missed something and need an idea of where to look for it.

But on zone maps, FoW is just annoying and a pain in the *** with no real purpose other than to be annoying and a pain in the ***.

Removing it would ensure that it cannot be broken again, because it gets broken with every major update (i.e. new issue)

I use FoW in city zones for badging. If the mrker area is still fogged, i don't have it. If it is clear, I do.

Even still, i would not complain if it went away.

Or how about storing that data on the client?

Exactly, they want you to buy it over and over to keep the real market going. ;-)

Mine appears to be fixed at this point. What I also noticed, was the map options were all unticked and I had ro reset them. (I tick everything but 'names'.) They are all staying now.

I've noticed both this, but also the reverse. I went to Perez on a new character for the first time and some paths across it were already revealed.

It most definitely is not fixed yet. I created a new character yesterday and then logged in with an older character and found all my maps black again. I haven't a clue if that had anything to do with it, but I do know that I'm tired of black maps.

As far as things staying ticked in options, this also seems to get reset to the defaults by something, don't know if that had anything to do with making a new character or not either, but I have to set options on the map on a regular basis to make them what I wan/

Until yesterday I'd only been to First Ward with just one of my characters and had been having on/off fog issues. Sometimes the map would be entirely fogged out, and other times just a little bit that I'd uncovered the time previously would be visible.

I logged in with a character that had never been in First Ward before to discover that all the map I'd previously uncovered with the other character was visible, when it should've been fogged out.

It seems random on other maps. My oldest character found Talos completely fogged, as well as Atlas. But then after re-logging they were back to being uncovered but Kings Row was fogged.

Still getting hit by this, and it is always annoying, especially in "hazard zones" that are fully blacked out if not explored.

Just get rid of the fog of war in zone maps, Devs... I mean, in a game set in a day and age where the character could just download a map on their phone, it's not like we need "hidden and mysterious" neighborhoods and cityscapes.

As someone who (on my first character) spent over 10 hours flying around every inch of every single zone map in the game to remove ALL fog of war (yes, even in the Shadow Shard!), having it randomly come back makes me a sad panda.

On the plus side, I have Reveal.

Me too, on both counts.

...and I did the Shard... with Hover. True story. Pointed Doc Turg East, minimized COH, did about 10 minutes of work, come back, steer him south, come back...

yeah, except for the apparant lapse of recall that said reveal power only exists in the one-time Paragon Token slot. >.<

I also have Reveal. But I've used it 4 times now on First Ward. Fog of War keeps resetting over and over on my main, Zube.

The old bug was, and still is, fixed for everyone I've talked to. This new bug isn't the old overrun of the cleared fog database buffer, or whatever was causing the old one, but something different. You can tell by the behavior of Reveal. With the old bug, you could clear a new zone, partially or completely, and then using Reveal would actually restore the fog on that map. This time Reveal works, but zone may or may not be recovered when you zone out and back in or log out and back in.

My experience is that it has hit both old and new characters. If I use reveal, that map is 100% guaranteed to get re-fogged. If I don't, it may or may not get refogged.

I can say that I don't think this round is due to a limit on how much can be revealed because my level 2 characters who have never been anywhere but nova praetoria (not even to the underground) are affected by it. If the limit is less than 1% of one of the smallest city zones, then that doesn't make sense because until now I've had many veteran characters with massive amounts of all zones uncovered.

It's a mixed bag for me. My Fire blaster has had EVERY zone reset, and when I clear it in a zone it's blacked out again the next time I log that character in. On the other hand CMA has cleared the fog in every zone years ago and still has them clear.

Probably about 2/3 of the characters I've logged in have the returning fog of war bug to some extent but my blaster's the only one I've seen so far where this bug comes back every time I log in.

I think the FoW bug is just a symptom of a much larger problem.

Problems I've noticed with zone maps.
FoW is completely screwed up. I do not have a single character where this is working correctly, or even predictably. The only time I can be sure of what I'm going to get is if I only play a single character I will get the map I logged off with.... but only most of the time. Sometimes it still goes black.

Every time I zone into a map with my contact on it the contact is automatically deselected.

When I zone into a map where my mission the way point and compass indicator usually takes at lest 30 seconds to appear, sometimes a lot longer, sometimes it NEVER appears and I must open my mini-map, unselected the mission door and reselect it.

I be willing to be that this has something to do with the incarnate delay as well. Log into a mission of zone into a map and it can take some time for your incarnate abilities to be usable. I have even had it happen once that I had to re-zone because my incarnate powers never became usable.

My opinion, this is the buggiest piece of release I have ever seen and someone should get a boot up their ***.

FoW has been screwy for me, too.

Just after I21 launched, it was pretty erratic; some of my characters lost some of their maps, but Revealing them would usually solve the problem for that map. More recently, it seems like all my characters have had all their maps re-fogged, and anything I do to reveal them (either exploration or Reveal) lasts only as long as that character is logged in.

I have to say, it's getting really annoying at this point, especially when I need to visit hazard zones.

I've noticed this as well but seeing as I have Reveal, Vidiotmaps and most of the zones memorized it isn't that annoying to me.

What is annoying is the bug that gives you a blank map, with no trainers or stores or anything on it.
I've been teaching a new player the game and I noticed them heading to atlas every time they levelled. I told them that every zone has a trainer and he said this was just easier cause he knew how to find her.

I replied that the trainer would be a green icon on the map. To which they said "I don't see her"

I figured he'd either reduced his map so all the icons were squashed together, or just wasn't looking.

Then I logged in an old toon and pulled up the map to find a Tech store...

WTF.

Fix that and put Rest back in the tray at level 2!!
(I had to tell him how to find Rest at level 13 when he complained about the downtime and inquired about rolling an AT that could kneel to regain health...)
