So will exalted go live once the patch is up?

Or can you give us a time when it would? Personally, I think it would be fair to release Exalted in the evening so that everyone has a chance at names.

In the evening where? When it's evening in NA, it's midnight in EU. When it's evening in AU, it's nighttime in NA.

Good luck at not pissing anyone off. Or maybe... that's what Ultimus wants?

We'll have a maintenance post with estimated downtime.

And evening where?

Hmm I thought it was an American server. Disregard my evening comment then.

There are only servers...

I wish they could do something like they did at release, when the top character slot we had on the beta was name reserved for us automatically there ... but I think there are too many people and too many characters out there for that to be an option.

Would be NICE if our names that are in the top slot of a server are reserved for us on the new VIP servers, but it's not going to happen. :-)

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be.
Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be.

I think it would be extremely UNfair to release in the evening, as I work almost exclusively night shifts, and if it were released in the evening it would be 8 hours before I'd be able to sit down with the game and snag names, and by that point I'm sure most if not all of the names I have my sights set on would be gone. If anything I think it would be fair to release it in the morning so the people who are consistently left out of the special events that are scheduled during evenings (Special dev-participation events like the Kadabra Kill and Sigil events, invasions, meet and greets in pocket D) have something given to them for a change.

Either way I am disappointed that we were only given 4 days notice prior to the headstart as that was nowhere near enough time to request off, but oh well, guess I'll be calling in sick that day because I'm tired of missing special stuff due to not having enough notice by the COH team. This is something that you guys really NEED to look into as it's not fair to those of us who work retail/food service/various other jobs where we're required to work late and provide two weeks notice for time off needed, especially with Freedom upcoming and the userbase expanding exponentially.

The servers are in the US. The players are all over the world.

Same as it was when CoH first launched.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Confirmed in Freedom Friday Q&A, Exalted will be live with the head start.

If something goes live tonight, when I am working 8 AM to 10:30 PM both Saturday and Sunday, while being away from home with no internet access...

...I will exact bloody revenge.

Well speaking for someone who works very long days, early in the morning until evening. And almost every weekend....no pity here. I never see Double XP etc. It doesn't matter what day or hour, someone won't be able to enjoy things. Though 4 days notice, well since they wanted this out on Sept 1, I can see not leaving in longer.

Sick day for a game? Really? Wow. I couldn't justify doing that (wish I could lol)

Yeah, that's similar to my situation. I have experienced *one* double xp weekend. I remember suggesting that people who didn't log on once during a double xp weekend be given a temp power that-- once activated-- would give 48 hours of double xp. People scoffed at the idea, but the market will give us something similar.

I just want to know whether it's worth me trying to get Tuesday off, or whether the timing will be such that I can leave that til Wednesday (i.e. if it goes live after I'd be home from work anyway).

Though either way it's dependent on sweet talking my boss into giving me the leave at such short notice, especially as we're a bit short staffed already. But screw those guys, I want to play with the new shinies.

I thought it was going live with freedom? I am not home atm.

12 hour after the patch is released. Gives everyone a chance to download it.

Just copy your beta or test install over to the live install folder, run a repair/consistency check and enjoy the rapid "download".

I would hate if they made any last minute changes and I had to download the patch nontheless.

You will have to download a patch. I'm relatively certain that what is going on live isn't precisely what they have on the beta nor on test. They will have some adjustments. However, copying over the last known good install and patching from that is going to save you a multi-gb download.

Or you can try copying your beta install over to your test install and patching (if at all) from there, and so avoid the 2.5 gb test update patch. The same process should be a time-saver on the live servers once they patch with the new issue. This is standard operating procedure for COH. I'm surprised you don't know this already.

Worst case you have to download the entire thing anywise. In which case you lose nothing from trying. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

Um, I don't know about Your directory, but comparing My CoHBeta directory to my CoHLive directory seems to point to a little more than just simple pigg revisions. Anyone Else notice the quicktime files? It'll take longer, but somehow I think it'd be safer (less headachy) to just bite the DL.

When CoH first launched, there were two server locations, one on the East Coast of the US and one on the West Coast of the US. There were players from many parts of the world playing.

I know of players from Australia and New Zealand that I teamed with. I know of players from the UK, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, and several other countries that I either played with or had read posts from on the forums.

So, I'm not sure what your comment is referring to. At the launch of Freedom, the servers will still be in the US and the players will still be all over the world.

How is that different for you lot? (I'm not really sure what lot has to do with it. After all, this isn't the story of Sodom and Gomorrah).
