Quote:In practice, for various reasons, with various excuses, the answer is A.So, is Pool Power Customization:
(a) Never going to be done
(b) Definitely going to be done Soon(tm) (ie, less than a year away)
(c) Definitely going to be done, but not planned as yet (ie, at least a year away)
Alternatively, the answer is C if your estimated time is roughly five to seven years from now. -
Quote:So we don't want to give people the option because using it (turning off their power's KB) would be so popular that peer pressure would kick in and essentially demand that people turn off their KB if they want to team.At that point, said "option" becomes less of an "option" and more of a requirement for teaming. How widespread among the population of the game that condition would be is certainly up for speculation, but the fact remains...if people know the option is available, they'll expect you to make use of it or go somewhere else.
Hmm.
So KB is so unpopular (per you) that the only reason people put up with teaming with KB-users it is that they can't turn it off?
Seems like a good reason to create the option to me. -
Quote:To join a global channel, a premium account needs to have completed the Tier 3 of Paragon Rewards. This takes a total of 5 reward tokens.Want to know the biggest crime though? My friend paid $15 worth of PP and he STILL can't really RP with my SG because he can't even be invited to the custom OOC channel.
I'm not asking for miracles here, just that premium players be allowed to enter a chat room they've been invited to. RWT be hanged, that's not the real excuse as far as this is concerned.
Assuming your friend started as a free account, paying USD$15 would have earned its' account two reward tokens (one for becoming a premium account, one for the 1200 paragon points purchased). Your friend would need another three reward tokens (at 1200 paragon points each; at 3600 paragon points total) or your friend can subscribe for 3 months, enjoy all the benefits of being a vip/subscriber and then let the account lapse into being a premium account.
Either way would cost the same amount.
(USD$45 for 3600 paragon points /or/ USD$45 for three months of subscription.) -
Quote:In a game where the only way you advance is to whack the pinatas until they spill their goodies? Telling me, "Oh, you don't have to fight the villains" in a game that is all about fighting the villains is the same as telling me, "Oh, you don't have to play the game". It is technically correct in that we don't have to but not doing so runs counter to the reason for the games' very existence.I have a different take on this.
Don't fight them. Run past them, sleep them, confuse them if you have to. If you don't have these powers then do whatever you need to stay alive and fight as few as possible. But just because they are there does not mean you have to kill them.
One of the things I kind of LIKE about these enemies is they are one of the few who are not basically XP vessels. Annoying, yes, but not so much if you treat them like an obstacle to get around. -
Quote:... Grr. I did what? *sighs*Finally, I think the OP would be better off with Jacob's Ladder than Spring attack. JL is a decent cone that can double as a ST attack--something this build is sorely lacking--and it recharges in 8 seconds instead of 120.
Thank you both for the suggestions, and for pointing out my sillyness. I'll take your suggestions under advisement while I'm correcting my mistake. -
As my shield/elec is nearing 50, I figured I should come up with an IO Set build for him (being somewhat ambitious).
This looks like a reasonable build that the character can self-acquire for the most part. Focuses are the three targeted area-effect charges, defense, defense and more defense. Slotted the HOs in order to increase my DDR a tad; I expect them to be the last thing actually equipped as they'll be something I have to buy from the market. Torn between Nerve and Cardiac for the Alpha (will probably take both); taking Void for Judgement; Reactive or Diamagnetic for Interface (will probably take both); unsure what to go with for Destiny and Lore.
So ... It looks good to me. Show me where I can (cheaply) improve.

Power suppression in the Studio B room inside the Architect Entertainment building within the Atlas Park zone isn't working. All powers remain functioning, not suppressed, not grayed out.
I've not checked the other AE buildings. Already bug'd in-game. -

Quote:Aww. How cute. I touched a nerve. Isn't just so adorable?I completely agree. I am fed up with the self important so called customers who believe that in their universe nothing ever goes wrong and they never make a mistake or error in judgment. And who feel they are always right. And who are sarcastic when you bend over backwards for them because in their small minds you are just doing your job.
Its' a job. It pays the bills. They do it because it is something they wanted to do. Am I supposed to congratulate them for:
... showing up to work when their bosses tell them to?
... doing the work their bosses tell them to do?
... making the decisions their bosses tell them to?
... being reasonably competent in the general sense?
I'm supposed to thank them for doing these things? Really?
My "thanks", such as it is, comes in a monetary form.
I continue to pay them for their work. I act towards them and speak with them in a reasonable manner when I am forced to interact with them, in return for reasonable service and a reasonable product. In exchange for my "thanks" (read: money), I am allowed to play the game, to receive further service as needed within a reasonable response time and to otherwise be one of the hundred thousand nameless and faceless customers who don't cause trouble and who thereby are mostly ignored.
But! None of that matters to you. We must sing their praises, in addition to paying them for the privilege. Heh. When they do something exceptional, then I shall join the choir of praise or condemnation as appropriate. Until then? Pfft. -
I shall believe it when I see it changed in-game, and not one moment before.
-
No compensation is owed nor should it be expected. Silly people.
-
(sarcasm) Certainly. Thank you for doing what you're being paid to do. Woo. Totally deserves a thank you from your customers for doing your job. Like, for realz. (/sarcasm)
In all honesty, I 'blame' NCsoft for setting the deadlines the way they have and the various pressures being applied to the Paragon Studios team. Not that it matters who I assign the 'blame' to in all honesty. I'm merely a customer. And if nothing else, it has been shown precisely how valued the paying customers are(n't). -
It is unreasonably low. There shouldn't be a sg membership cap at all. Let alone membership cap on the global channels.
My regular playgroup has something like twenty active players. Maybe thirty in a good month. (And a number of less active players, lurkers, etc.) We alt heavily. Because we are alt-heavy, we run our own coalitions and global channels and whatnot ... as the game doesn't give us a choice in the matter thanks to these member caps.
It is terribly idiotic to have such limitations. Yes, yes, standard code rant. Remove the limits. Assign a 32bit signed integer to track the members; or whatever. Let us have billions of members if we wish. -
Quote:That 15 a month is required to access the game in such a manner that I'd be willing to continue playing it. Whatever is included in it that I don't use is ... wasted, yes, but its' a waste I'm okay with because if I'm not subscribed, I'm not playing. Its' just how I am.By that logic, to be fair, you're "wasting" 7.50 a month paying for a sub for this game, since that money goes both red and blue side. You're technically "wasting" even more if you like playing grey side content. While you can avoid these arcs and that's not a problem, that's a silly argument to be making. If you're going to play these arcs multiple times, it doesn't matter whether or not it gives you access on one side or another, you're still using the money you spent.
However! Some of my friends are intending to come back as premium.
And for them? They want the full value of their cash. This signature arc? One sig arc for the reward table is fine. Don't bother with the other ones because they'll share the reward table access.
The actual story bits? Meh. This one is too short, too fast and not detailed enough. There are gaps, some irritating mechanics (the first time that doesn't do anything; the second time that counts down the ambushes but is otherwise irrelevant) and an overall feel of being rushed for the sake of being rushed.
It reeks of "challenge". And so sets my teeth on edge.
The other ones may be better or may be worse, but this one has set the first impression that they all are going to suck. And its' going to be expensive to change my mind on that.
But, eh, who knows. They may still buy them anywise. Its' not like I'm paying for their game. -
Maybe. If we are, its' only light rumblings that I've noticed.
Quote:I don't know..
The OP posted once and created 5 pages. I think he won.
Quote:MARTy proves they would not have to do this at all, just make MARTy's AE brother with a much lower throttle. Most likely it would have almost no effect on running most story arcs.
Quote:It's not going to happen, though, for the same reason the devs have long since stopped talking about farming in AE. Someone above the dev team is perfectly happy with it.
Imaginary Numbers: 10% of 100k subscribers is 10k subscribers. 10k subscribers is a minimum of $150k USD monthly, more if you include their micro-transactions. $150k USD monthly is $1.8m USD yearly. That is a lot of cash to tell off.
Quote:Personally, I don't care about farming on AE, just give me a Story Arc tag so I can find non-farms. My only beef with farm writers is not them clogging up AE with farms, but them clogging up AE with 50 million versions of the exact same farm. -
Quote:I'll be sure to add that to the list of reasons not to buy the signature arc stories when talking it over with friends. Won't use half of the stuff included. That's their prerogative, it doesn't change the fact that you're getting 6 missions.
Content that we pay for but that we don't see without going out of our way to do so (by rolling and leveling redside when we don't usually do so) ... is wasted money.
Feel free to give me more things to add to my list. -
Quote:That would make sense. Thereby, it isn't going to happen. In the end, I hope they add a tag. The Farm Tag. So that farmers can find good farm missions and the storypeople can find the arcs they are interested in. Probably the best solution to this problem making everybody happy.
Besides, if they did that, it'd take the wind out of certain people's sails because they wouldn't be able to claim that "the ebil farmers are ruining the game" if the powers that be acknowledge the farmers in such a manner. Can't have that. -
So do I. I use it to ticket farm, as stress relief and to make things for myself and my friends.
The stress relief properties of smashing nine spawns of +4/x8, surrounded by so many enemies you can't even see your character except for the occasional FX flash from an area-effect ... is awesome. It always cheers me up. I'd continue to do that on occasion even without the rewards. -
Quote:I think it'd be hilarious. Not only would you have all of those people with dedicated farmers up in arms, but the ******** would change from "ebil farmers ruining our AE!" to "no one uses the AE!". The AE system would turn into yet another abandoned subsystem that only the diehard supporters even think about using. lolAE will be added to the same list as lolPVP.Pretty much this. The only way to prevent the AE from being used as a farming tool is to completely remove all rewards from it, and frankly, I can't see them doing that. The fallout would be tremendous.
Totally should do it. -
Quote:The lava is neat. The obelisk looked detailed (not that I had much time to look at it really).I absolutely adore the missions, myself. The first moment I walked in and saw the lava I literally gasped. I haven't had a moment like that in this game for a while.
Quote:And you're being slightly unfair to say it's only 3 missions for $5. You actually get six missions.
Quote:They put a lot of time and resources into these gorgeous missions. Writers, art people, and powers team were all involved here. Does it justify a $5 charge? I'm not sure. I can't really say that I'd pay the $5 or not, because I know I'm not dropping my subscription anytime in the next *checks watch* year and two months. -
Those three little missions are worth $5 USD? Really?
So glad I'm staying VIP, because I wouldn't pay for such ... and I intend to recommend to others that they only buy one signature arc and then ignore the rest. The way the nice reward table is being restricted to one signature arc per week per character, with the icky reward table being given for every signature arc played afterwards that week ...
From a rewards perspective, buying more than one signature arc is a suckers deal that I will happily laugh at people for doing when they (inevitably) complain.
From a story-first or gotta-have-em-all perspective, it may not be as stupid.
*sighs*
I'm surprised they expect people to pay for this. To use the phrase, "You never get a second chance to make a first impression." The first impression for this is "Wait. Dude. What?" -
If you wish farming in all its' various flavors to be removed from the AE ... remove the rewards. All of them. No tickets. No experience. No influence. No prestige. Nothing.
And having done that, delete every published arc/mission from the database forcing a clean slate approach. That'll clear the backlog of broken, unused and unmaintained farms (and other missions that are also broken, unused and unmaintained) from the search.
Then you may make your stories without a AE farmer to trouble you ever again.
...
Not willing to go that far? Heh. Then the farmers and those being farmed will not go away. Some farm for tickets. Some farm for experience. Some farm for influence. Some farm for prestige. If you leave the rewards in, the AE will be used for its' rewards by someone.
Myself? I grind out tickets when I want recipes. Both for the recipes themselves and for the salvage to make them. The stuff I don't use/want gets tossed on the market for 6 inf (or simply sold to the vendor for the NPC prices if it doesn't sell within a few minutes). So long as you leave tickets in? I'm going to be grinding tickets. Remove the tickets? And I become remarkably less interested in using the AE (at all). -
Changes I'd like for PB:
a) That human-form toggles suppress rather than de-toggle when switching to another form, with the form (nova or dwarf) receiving no benefit from the human-form toggles. I'm even willing to continue paying the endurance cost of the suppressed toggles.
b) An inherent toggle that lets me switch between knockback and knockup for any/all of the powers that currently do knockback. Knockdown is simply a low magnitude knockback. Sometimes I want one, sometimes I want the other. New_Toggle off, I get KB. New_Toggle on, I get KU (or KD if we aren't allowed KU).
c) Alternate animations, even if that means I have to buy them off the cash shop.
d) A peacebringer / warshade -style aura usable as an aura selection in the costume editor with all the various options other auras possess, even if that mean I have to buy it off the cash shop.
Option A would remove the frustration involved in playing a multi-form kheldian. Option B would improve my personal enjoyment, and make general teaming more enjoyable for myself and for those who have issues with KB (which sometimes includes myself). Option C and Option D are fluff, but, well, this is COH. We pay good money to play dress-up with our barbie and ken dolls. Fluff is important.
I'm not sure what else actually should be changed. I'll have more opinions once I've more experience with the recent changes.
