Team Leader Star: chime
I'd modify this to have a chime anytime the Team or League leadership is passed to ANY other player, so as to notify the entire Team/League of the change.
Good suggestion.

Agreed.
Just last night I had this 'problem' strike me. I was on a team that was steamrolling along. We'd been fighting the visual bug all night but I wasn't paying much attention to the team window since I wasn't on a support toon.
So we exit the mission and I'm just standing there waiting for the next one to be set. Noticed in chatter that the original leader asked for the star back to invite and started messing with my enhancements. Few seconds later I see that a small problem seems to be brewing as the leader was still asking for the star and starting to get frustrated. I flipped some channels on the TV. That's when I got a /Tell from one of the other guys on the team.
/Tell - You do know you have the star right?

I usually do that with a "Passing you the star to fix the team window, mind passing it back?" tell-and-promote macro, but I wouldn't object to an audio cue. For that matter, sounds for a new mission set, players joining, leaving or disconnecting would also help with situational awareness.
Sounds like a fine idea to me.
*passes the autobot matrix of leadership* "you've got the touch...."
In all seriousness, I do like this idea as I've unwittingly been passed the star and missed the "invite/reinvite" messages that were supposed to be directed to me ( ' ;

Fine idea...like many on this board. I would want the sound to be very distinctive...this game makes a LOT of noises.
Perhaps a voice message, e.g. "You've got Leadership"
That's too funny! I love it!

Or a big splash sign, like the kind you get when you change/affirm alignments in Praetoria?

{mind you, my 14Kbit days weren't that fun either... but still, AOL}
Very good idea! I am not on board with the Alignment-esque splash screen, but a distinctive chime akin to the sound League chat or Team chat makes would be nice.
I'd like to see the bug fixed rather than a "here's a noise to help you deal more efficiently with this bug" fix instituted, but as one doesn't appear to be in the offing, this would be wonderful.
While a good idea, I would not be for it, simply because I play with no sound.
And I could imagine the star dropping to me as I'm on a splash screen, or whatever and getting completely flamed by people for not hearing the sound.
Clearly the screen should shake violently.

Humor aside, in such a case, I'd just assume the Rikti were attacking or some goober is setting off his powers. Happens seemingly all the (annoying) time when I'm working in the tailor screen. Terribly distracting when my model starts rocking repeatedly too.
You do make a point though, for having a corresponding visual that can be seen on alternate screens. I've heard of a lot of players who never turn the sound up.
It's not only a matter of not turning the sound up. For instance, my sound card died on me a few months ago and I haven't bothered to replace it in the meantime because I've got a good headset which is working fine. However, when I need to go let the dog out, I usually take it off completely and don't put it back on until he's in so I can hear if he's barking outside. Alternately, I sometimes play with it around my neck to I can carry on a conversation with my fiancee, and I'll get some sounds but not all of them there. So anything with a visual component would make for a better solution than a purely audible one.

Sartre once said, "Hell is other people." What does that make an MMO?
Four chimes.
"Team leadership changed." - Bleep
"Team leadership changed to you." - Bleep-bleep!
"League leadership changed." - Bloop
"League leadership changed to you." - Bloop-bleep!

I'm imagining the sounds of the Star Trek transporter controls with all those bloops and bleeps. Quite frankly, if someone drops the League leadership in my lap without warning, I don't want a bloop bleep, I want the Enterprise klaxon!
It would be nice to have a brief, alert chime go off if the team leader passes the star to you.
I thought about this last night when the team lead without warning passed the star to me to clear the current visual bug. He eventually had to ask for it back because I was not playing a healer or other character that needed to closely follow the team roster, and therefore had no idea the star was passed.
Now, yes, leaders should communicate more effectively, but really many just don't and the rest of the team should not receive delays because of it. For example, many is the time over the years, that I've seen a team exit a mission, they all go to train, are on their training screens, and the crummy leader drops team unannounced (or gets disconnected, in which case they're not so crummy). Everyone waits around for the person who received a star to notice, but for whatever reason (in this case, a training screen) they don't. A chime that sounds while they're on their training screen might alert them to at least pass the star to one who is available, or to watch for the true leader's return from dc'ing.
