Chicken (glazed,) some seafood, specifically shrimp, white wine, some salads and pork dishes.

Don't see anything about COH in the notes, but I do see problems with another game I play on occasion... holding off a bit.

Continue to hold off.

I got a hard-lock after about an hour or so standing around doing nothing.

Again, a thread is open on the AMD developer forums: http://forums.amd.com/devforum/messa...&enterthread=y

if you try the 11.8 drivers and experience a crash: PLEASE POST IN THE THREAD ON THE AMD FORUMS.

I assume you mean a total system freeze? Ouch. 11.6, 11.7 freeze the game but not the system for me. I can force CoH to quit and restart it and I'm fine till it decides to freeze up again.

It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.

So far, they are no worse than the 11.7s for me. No crash after about 1 hour of solo play - but not really stressful, that .

Sounding like its ATI being ATI again.

11.3 is stable and I won't be swapping it anytime soon.

Waiting til 11.9 I guess

Hmmm, so what drivers would be most stable with a Radeon HD 6950 when playing CoH? i've got one en route right now, so i have plenty of time to get the appropriate drivers.

11.4 most likely.

It is really going to be a crap shoot. Start with the 11.8 (or 11.9 if they are out when it gets to you) and work your way back until you find one that is stable for you.

The 11.8s are better for me than anything earlier. I can even turn Ultra mode all the way up on several things and still maintain a good (30-50fps outdoor, 60+ fps indoor) framerate.

I haven't been able to turn those settings all the way up since I was using 10.12 drivers on my old 4890.

je_saist, no 6xxx series card can use drivers prior to the 11.x series.

That is what we call a "Typo"

Don't forget to hop over to the AMD forum link and post your experience there.

Ok, rolled back to 11.4 and things are running smooth.

Since the 11.8 is out for a long time (I doubt that there is any difference to the Preview Version) and it did not help me (I allways switch to the Preview Version) - is the 11.9 Preview allready there?

For the little that I am sure it is worth, 11.8 has worked great for me in the Beta.

Well that's interesting if it proves true for more folks. I know 11.7 has been no better there I think than on live. Not for me anyways.

Same issues for me with ATI 6870, Windows 7 x64 and 8gb ram - 11.8 hard locks occasionally forcing me to Ctrl+Alt+Del to punch out from Task Manager.

Usually it locks when I step away for a few minutes to get a drink/bio and after 5 minutes or so of no movement it locks.

Those are my specs too. I rolled back to 11.4 and it works for me. Remember that to roll back, you need to uninstall Catalyst, restart, THEN install 11.4.

New card arrived today.
11.7 (current) and 11.8 drivers downloaded.
Now to uninstall current drivers and card then put in the new card (Sapphire Toxic HD 6950) and install 11.8.
Wish me luck.

I'm starting to wonder if there is an issue with 64 bit Windows. A lot of the reports of problems are from people on 7 x64, or Vista x64.

Of course, this could be a false positive since 64 bit is the way of the future...

And then there is the difficulty of tracking down is it a driver + x64 problem, or a CoH + x64 problem... Or something else entirely.

Eh... Just mulling out loud.

Actually if it's only the drivers that are faulty you can go into windows safemode and then the device manager and just roll back the video driver, keeping the latest catalyst etc. in place, this will then also let you try the older gfx drivers by installing them and it stating there is a newer version of the ccc in place making it only update the video driver.

If that gfx driver fails, safemode device manager rollback then try the next

Thank you for the feedback, it has been directed to the Catalyst Crew Team

Remaining with the older drivers would be the recommended workaround for
now. If you are comfortable with your workaround remain with it.

Aye, this is what I do, seems to work fine having newer components but rolling back to 11.3 video driver in my case.
