DOODS. I was was able to log in and play for 5 minutes just now. Then the servers shut down again.
Progress?

And, they're down, again . . .

I got in, got on a BAF league, then got kicked. During this time, I counted 12 mapservers. I think FREESPECS for a year is an agreeable reward for the trouble.

[Admin] NCsoft_Zwillinger: Thanks Virtue! Have a great evening and our apologies about today's downtime! |
As much as I miss my daily COV I will say this, I have been playing since the start and I can not remember ever being down this long. One day is seven years is not bad by any standards. I doubt many others can make the same boast.
I have seen some reset their servers to the "pre-crash" and fix the real issue later. But that may not be possible here.
I've been playing on Chanpion for about 2 hours now, and quite a few folks on my friends list are on Virtue, Triumph, Justice, and Union.

I agree, the uptime record here has been far better than some other games I've played. Which is of course what makes events like today all the more painful since we are not used to this kind of thing.
as of 8:30 ish pacific time Infinity was giving me cannot connect to login server, but Guardian is working.
Is anyone else seeing everything as 'down' on the server status page? It's been useless for me all day long even when Infinity was up and I was playing it said everything was down.
I"m in Freedom. Lets hope it stays up
To me, the problem is that no one knew anything about this beforehand. Freitag said this was due to hardware upgrades. That's great. I think just about everyone would like to see the hardware upgrades promised by NCSoft when they first bought the game, but installing new hardware is not an unexpected event!
There should have been a week's prior notice for something like this. People make plans to play and paying customers should not be treated as if their plans are inconsequential. This, on top of the recent period of many unexpected, extended downtimes has quite a few players ticked off and they have a right to be.
I can say, ah well, there's tomorrow, well, today, say later like, not 12:18am when few folk are on. Night/Morning. Have fun folks! Later... Ahh wasted coffee... Curses! It's a NEMESIS PLOT!

I'm enjoying every minute of it"

"I know, let's work on the servers for a few hours next week. After, we can bring them online, then break them so they go back down again."
"Should we tell the players we plan to break them after we bring them back up?"
"Nah, they''' figure it out. Besides, their plans are inconsequential."
I'm sure that's exactly how it went down. [/em sarcasm]
Bottom line is, the unexpected happens. And you can't schedule it. The fact that the unexpected happens so rarely with this game should tell you that all the people responsible are really doing their jobs well, or are very lucky. Either way, perhaps a, "Thank you for putting in the seriously long day today so I can play my game," might be a better response at this time..
Is it just me or is everyone right now not even able to launch? I double click and..........nothing. Beta...samething!
I'm sorry! I didn't know that quip about you guys buying Geek Squad protection for your servers next time would offend you so much that you would have to shut the servers down RIGHT before I could get a group together for the Hollows stuff.
But I know you did it just to spite me personally. And also every other person who was logged in and complained that your timing was bad.
Seriously, shutting servers down at a time when like 80% of the population is asleep? WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? 7:30PM Pacific is WHERE IT IS AT, MAN!
Hats off to the guys and gals working to get things running properly again!
Who hates this more, the customer base who want to play or the people stuck at work trying to fix things while the customer base "just wants to play now!!"?

I'm not against the maintenance and all, but between this mornings downtime and now. I've gotten maybe an hours playtime in total today lol...
Anyone have the same problem with not being able to load to server? Double clicked on icon and nothing, doesn't go to load screen!
The people that pay, cause the people working on this problen are GETTING paid!

Regardless... Being on the other end and being responsible of delivering entertainment to anxious costumers isn't quite fun when there are major problems!

Can't reach login servers as of around midnight PST. Not totally surprised.
... and they're back up.
Hey, Americans, welcome to the world of Extended Maintenance!
Us Oceanic-types get this ALMOST EVERY WEEKNIGHT. Imagine how *radically fun* it is to be a subscriber to a game which is perpetually 'in maintenance mode'.
Next time an Aussie complains about maintenance in prime-time, perhaps look back to todays experience you had, and nod sagely instead of snapping of Sharp Snappy Excuses for WHY maintenance happens SO often, and mostly in Oceanic prime time.
Of course, the apologists are just ready and waiting, with their 'logical' arguments about revenue bases etc.
I unsubscribed because of this B/S, I came back for I21 (which was supposed to be in August, silly me for believing the hype) and it's been weeks of 'sorry, servers going down' ever since I got back.
Not Happy, Jan!
