And it is now 10:40 EDT and the servers have been brought down again! I have remained silent concerning all the game crashes that began after I updated to 20.5 (and never had to deal with previously), but this is getting ridiculous and I'm growing very angry.
I'm betting this downtime is related to the fact that I would try to zone into a door mish and the game would never load the map. This went of for nearly 2 hours of my repeatedly trying different things. At best, I would leave it for 5-10 minutes and would be kicked out to the city area again with an error message that the map failed to load (duh). More often the game simply froze at the map loading screen and I would be forced to task manager out of it. What the Fudge!??!
I'd have been much happier continuing with I20.0 until it was as stable as most previous releases have been. Add to these issues the fact this is a 2XP weekend and it becomes completely unacceptable. NC needs to step up and offer a make-up 2XP weekend so that players can actually enjoy it for what it's supposed to be rather than dealing with constant down time and crashes. I know NC did it once before a few years back because of massive issues during a 2XP weekned. Hopefully they'll step up this time as well.
Just spitballing here, but maybe hosting DXP & the initial release of SuperMegaBeta material at the same time was a bit... ambitious?

Seriously, people, get some freaking perspective here will you? I mean, they CLEARLY can't be taking the servers down because, oh, I dunno, maybe there's something making the game unplayable for people?

You would think so, but given how things started to fall apart at that time seems like more than a coincidence. With a larger group of people split up between the two, you'd expect to see lower utilization and fewer issues, but that hasn't been the case. If nothing else, a team working on one aspect is a team that isn't working on another.

When the Hotmail servers went down, Hotmail sent me an email telling all about which server went down, why it went down, who was going to fix it, and they even asked if I had any helpful suggestions or commentary. Then they politely waited for me to respond before they began to fix the issue. That's customer service.

I believe that's a better way to think about it, even if it's not perfect. Acting like people play 24 hours a day, 30 days a month only serves to strawman the issue.
Personally I don't care about the downtime, but I do get annoyed easily by bad arguments.

Really hope I'm one of the few players that gets a Game key for the early release of SWTOR over the weekend, because this game has gone down hill severely every since they mentioned this was going F2P.

What the servers whent down? I was too busy playing on beta with the new shinies to give a hoot...
Besides AE levels you faster with less running around anyway. Though a bunch of Prestige would be nice... hmmm.
I too remember a time when the Game's team would voice what caused our game time to be interrupted... Guess it's bad PR to tell us now.... >_>
