  1. take it from someone who's played GW2 since release. It's no replacement for CoH. It gets old fast, there's nothing even close to the customization both in looks and power choices like there is in CoH, and without those things, what does it have going for it? It's got polish and it's pretty to look at. WvW is a lot lamer than I thought it would be, and there's really no endgame type stuff like CoH has.

I really don't see how anyone coming from this game will enjoy it for long.
  2. I know this isn't exactly what you are asking for...

But I wish when they had that fork in the road, where one path was WoW based gear, raids, and continued character progression via grinding, and the other was fixing bases, base raids, and pvp based content, I wish they should have gone the pvp path. They could have linked base raids and zonewide pvp events together, they could have done so much. They could have made something special that no other game could touch.

Heck, maybe it would have saved CoH, and given people a reason to not just be heroes/vigilantes for the last 3 years.
  3. Have a mere 240 points, apparently can't buy any more, is there no way to try like dark control etc powersets?

Can you make them free or something? I don't see the harm since you aren't charging for them anymore.

I was really hoping to use them at some point :/
  4. Suicide. He'd start to lose his mind, diagnosed with dimensia or it be the symptom of some sort of condition or brain tumor. After hurting someone without realizing what he's doing, he ends it. Maybe fly into the sun or something else dramatic.

Time travel, someone goes back in time and kills him before he becomes statesman. I suppose that might screw up the timeline a bit.

Betrayal of some sort. A poison or some other method that would require a level of trust.
  5. I recently petitioned after going from VIP to premium, having about 3 years of paid time on my account, with a second account that has spent at least 50 dollars on paragon points, and was told that since I wasn't a VIP I couldn't get 'immediate' support. I thought, okay maybe it will take a day or two. Now 4 days later it's apparent what they meant was you get NO support.

People who are premium are still paying you money, people who have subscribed for years have earned your support even if they are now premiums. I understand if you want it to require like tier 3 or 4 paragon rewards. That would be fine. But People at reward level 6+ not getting support is RIDICULOUS.

Similarly, not letting these longtime supporters of your product post anywhere but here is also ridiculous.
  6. I just had the most genius freakin idea ever. If you are like me (and I guess that's somewhat unlikely), you permanently have a little mini map up in a corner of the screen, and when you mouse over icons they shoot all over the place and are hard if not impossible to click on to mark on the compass. This seems to be something that grows worse over time, possibly just due to so many different icons.

While the mini map and icons could be improved to discern between certain types of shops and gates so that only a couple of each show, thus clearing out garbage, I have an even better idea!

Let us customize what markers appear persistently on the compass, when available for that particular zone, with the following options:
    Origin specific store
    Trainer
    Tram/Ferry
Non-tram/ferry transports (smugger ship, striga ferry, etc)
Passive Gates (street to skyway, entrance to sewers)
    Architect Entertainment
    Pocket D entrance
    Hospital
    Inspiration store
    Consignment house
team leaders most recent mission that they have forgotten to select
    team members
    sg members?

You get the idea. Obviously not all of that list is needed, but just throwing every idea for markers out there. For me I'd have just trams/pocket d, and consignment. Allow it so the compass can have any number of these active at once, persistent, adapting to the correct locations based on the zone, absent when that zone has none of that type.

No more click frustration when you want to just get to where you are going!
  7. maybe try typing out sentences like you are actually speaking to someone. Building instead of build would also be good. I've never called a structure a 'build'.

I see this a lot in sewers going for the vahz badge. One person will say something horribly vague like "only boss", and no one who's new knows what the f he's talking about, and then said person flips out on everyone when a zombie dies.

People who fabricate other people's emotions or motivations are obviously standing on weak logical ground.

I never said I was quiting, I said I'd no longer be a subscriber. I had never intended to subscribe past my current sub, before I even subbed in the first place. I did it as a bridge to the f2p, nothing more.

It's not about what every single individual VIP wants. If it were, then while the system is fair for you, it's not fair for others, so your argument is moot. It's about what should or shouldn't be included with a subscription fee. I remember back when most sane people balked at the idea of paying 12 dollars a month for a subscription to any game. Heck this continued for years, even sometime past the grand success of WoW.

The mmorpg playerbase has truly become sheep, in contrast to what used to be demanded of mmorpg developers.

Yet, this is tangential, no one has really answered the topic question, because you can't. You are at a loss and have to revert to the same old tired arguments. But by all means, continue repeating them, quoting them, 'this'ing the quotes, etc. It's amusing, which is unfortunately all that rational topics like this can achieve.

Unfortunately, it's the game that will suffer in the longterm. We'll see how energetic the devs are in a few months when their overpriced items and low VIP population leave them back at square one, or worse.

Since you are one of the only people to actually address the point of the topic, I'll respond even though you may not be actually trying to make a point. I can't tell.

Firstly, it's a question. A valid response would be an answer to the question. It can be a business reason, an ethical reason I suppose, a fairness between parties reason, etc. No one has one as far as I can tell. They will defend the devs no matter what, and using things like what VIPs get that premiums don't, but that just doesn't answer the question.

Is this game really more valuable than other subscription based games that in order to get everything it should cost more than 15 a month? It's a different question admittedly, but I imagine the answer has to be yes to this in order to justify the current system.
  10. BTW, I preface this by saying I am currently a VIP, but won't be one soon, no matter what the devs do. I have no vested interest in what actually happens to VIP players, this is just honest perplexitude.

I hate to state the obvious, but don't they already pay? They only get a third of their money's worth in points, not even enough to buy the powersets and costume pieces (more like a tenth of the money required to).

These are the people who've supported you for day one, and a lot of months in between more than I ever did that's for sure. I just don't get why you'd crap on them, even from a business perspective it seems an absurd quickster-esque move.

Obviously they needed more money, isn't that what premiums are for? People who wouldn't otherwise pay you anything are now paying you something. Isn't that the whole point? Do you really expect them to be more profitable than VIPs? No one is more profitable to your business than a VIP.

Even if you give them everything, you lose nothing. They pay every month to keep access to the new goodies you continue to give them. Yet you expect people to pay monthly and then pay more on top of that for content that used to be included?

What am I missing? This horse isn't dead enough for me.
  11. I am just a little skeptical, as apparently no one on my server uses the queue, or it's broke, as it never works. Okay once it worked, but that's out of about 10 tries.

Obviously location is confirmed, and I know you can tell by clicking on people what morality they are, but most people probably still eyeball it using the AT symbols, which don't mean anything now.

One time it didn't work even when I queued up with allow event in progress after I knew for a fact a 7 person team had entered. Oh well.

  13. As title says. Charging what you are for them right now is ridiculous. For 80 or 160 points, we should be able to get a license to earn these inspirations as drops, or convert normal insps to them.

Whether or not anyone buys these currently is irrelevant, you are stealing money from anyone who does (avoiding generalized insults for the moment) and it's really not right.

Now if they were reusable, were 1/10 the current price, or lasted a couple hours, or something, it wouldn't be so bad. But I just can't stand this. Inspirations are the most worthless things in the entire game. I don't mean they aren't useful, they just have 0 value because they drop all the time and are single use. You just can't charge this type of money for something with no value.

I could possibly add the xp boost of a pathetic 25% for a single hour to the list of things, but even that can be made a LITTLE useful if done at the right time.
  14. I believe the root of the problem is my PCI express preventing my PCI slot from working when the graphics card is under stress. What kind of stress, I'm not sure, perhaps memory since it only happens on maps with transitions from tileset to tileset, and only when near the transition point.

You see, my USBs on my motherboard burnt out, I have the PC display on my TV, so cords are out of the question, and I have to use a PCI USB card.

I've tried all sorts of settings, changing the PCI slot, checking for conflicts, updating drivers for everything.

I'm hoping someone has had an issue at least similar, and some sort of possible response. Turning graphics settings to minimum does nothing.

    The card is a gtx260.

Any help is welcome, before I have to start spending cash.
  15. If you are thrifty or just poor like me, you buy recipes. You then spend hours bidding and rebidding on salvage until you just start throwing inf at the wild market swinging prices of salvage, even if you think you MIGHT have one of those pieces of salvage in ONE of the many bins in your SG's base or in your personal vault. But since doing that much checking would double the amount of time you are already invested, you say screw it and just keep bidding where you don't have to move around.

This is frustrating. It's so close to a good system, but I bet like me, most people's vaults and base storage goes almost completely untouched.

I suggest that in parenthesis, it show if you have salvage available in a salvage rack or your vault, when mousing over a recipe at the market or from inventory. Further, I believe you should be able to craft a recipe using salvage directly from a rack or storage without going to retrieve it.

I think this change would make a huge difference to the usefullness of storing salvage, and it would make life for people like me so much easier.
  16. I know, lolnoob and all that, but I tend to get guys up to 22, then just play with a small group of friends who only play a couple hours a night, and I have 10 diff characters I switch between. Sooooo.. I'm looking for a brute secondary that's the toughest at this level range.

I would assume dark, followed by fire, just for the self heals, but if there's one that can softcap def by 25, I might prefer that.

    Opinions, hand them over.
  17. Since topics like these without solid info is all there is on this forum, I put the slow damage proc into distortion field. Used it 3 times on a pair of enemies. It never proc'd once. I would assume it can proc at casting and at no other time.

However, it's still a good power, even the completely random hold aspect of it can be useful against large groups. My main is a controller so it's superfluous for him, but for defenders and corruptors, it's good.

The one who said not to take it either overrates their own damage abilities, or needs to fight harder stuff. I can see how in some groups that plow through enemies you won't need it, but if that's all you play with, then you probably only need slowed response the entire night, in other words, zzzzzzzzzzz
  18. The only problem is that there's only one trial till you get to 50.

The way you queue and the way it's structured and easy to do, and the rewards and xp are all great. They should work on the way regular arcs work, so that exiting one mish takes you to the next, and allow people to join in (if the group leader allows it), and up the XP to be comparable.

Should also be able to do 3-5 papers in a row like this, by queuing up and running through them, finishing off with a big awesome mayhem mission.

Until they do this, they should have a couple versions of the DfB trial, still let anyone join them, but have level ranges of SSK'ing based on the level of the group leader, so people can still learn to use their powers (though I think most of us farming these for xp have several 50s and are tired of the regular methods).

On the chance I am wrong, this is what I got off from Mids'

5.95 second hold(Mag 3) to Target (2% chance after 0.25 seconds, to Critters if not delayed)
Hope you are wrong, but now that I think about it, you are probably right.
  22. I'm trying to crunch how much the average damage of a proc slotted into the power would yield, but no idea how often it 'attempts' the hold or reapplies the slow. It's not at redtomax.

    Hopefully someone knows.
