I call this "Pain Training"....Before the days of Self Destruct, I used to fly dead into a mob to pain train back to Fort Darwin.

I have done this soo many times. I used to do it infront of Noob$ then tell them that if they go to a temple inside the Nerva Forest that there is a CoT Mage and if you get there he will give you that power

Here are the ones I use most in-game:

Team Grief - Assemble the Team or Team Recall

Prepare to be Griefed - I am most likely TPing you, probably while flying at the height ceiling.

In my own little cult of personality global channel, I've also giving most TFs their own nickname that everyone either figures out what I'm saying or ignores me:

Alicia Keyes Trial - Keyes Reactor

BAMF Trial - BAF

Stutter TF - Admiral Sutter Task Force

Famous Mort SF or the Kal Penn SF - Mortimer Kal Strike Force

Treespec - Any villain Thorn Tree respec, obviously

Freakspec - The middle hero Reactor Respec

No, Just No - Any Shadow Shard TF

And now I share with you the most inside joke-iest of all lingo:

-4 - First person who dies on any trial/TF gets this term of endearment. Named after an un-alpha slotted scrapper who joined us for a Tin Mage who managed to outlive everyone.

Current Badge Hunter: Plot Device (Rad/Thermal/Dark) - 1,268 Xbox Live: Friggin Taser

King of Electricity, Lead Inmate running the Carl and Sons asylum, the "Man" behind the Establishment, Given Honor in Hat Form By Paragon City (Favorite Forum Poster 2006!), Master of Ceremonies of the Fair Use Law podcast

Beating a Nemesis Pony: bringing up in chat or forums, any topic that has been done to death, especially topics regarding long standing wishes which players believe the devs should fulfill.

Cat Herder: League leader trying to hyper-control the members of a pick-up league.

I think my record is being -4 5 times in a row while on my blaster.

The wisdom of Shadowe: Ghostraptor: The Shadowe is wise ...; FFM: Shadowe is no longer wise. ; Techbot_Alpha: Also, what Shadowe said. It seems he is still somewhat wise ; Bull Throttle: Shadowe was unwise in this instance...; Rock_Powerfist: in this instance Shadowe is wise.; Techbot_Alpha: Shadowe is very wise *nods*; Zortel: *Quotable line about Shadowe being wise goes here.*

I used to hear that term used to mean "really going smoothly and quickly through groups in missions" especially Papers/Radios. It was a sort of compliment to the group, "Man, we are steamrolling this thing!"

Statesman Fun - Things that are fun as defined by Jack "Statesman" Emmert, such as getting wiped twelve times by a boss before finally defeating it. May or may not bear any relationship to actual fun.

brb soloing - Hey, where'd the scrapper go? (god damnit, shad...)

Defeat 12 Orphans - The objective of a hypothetical mission, as written by the devs that gave us the first few issues, to save children from a burning orphanage. A poke at the quality, limited options, repetitiveness etc of the game's oldest content.

Spawnmower - A team that can ki-- er, "defeat" large numbers of foes at a fast, steady pace.

Commerce Break - Everyone's salvage and/or enhancement inventories are full, time to visit the market and/or a vendor or quartermaster to sell it all off.

Council-sized - Large spawns, particularly of Council or Fifth Column. Beloved of characters with AoE powers.

Yeah No Button - Incarnate Judgments. "Look, a spawn of--" "Yeah, no." *ASPLODE*

Facepull - Pulling with a character that has few or no ranged attacks, usually by running up into aggro range and then back to the rest of the team.

Grenade Jumping - Volunteering to sit out a task force, etc when there are more than eight players present from the SG who wish to go. Sometimes several players will attempt to do so at once.

Orangebagel - Lost City of.

Wakie - Awaken inspiration.

Vengeance Bait - A character who expects or actually plans to die in a difficult fight, so as to grant a Vengeance buff to the rest of the team.

I've heard quite a few "Team (name)" based on the team's makeup. Usually teams with 6 or more of the same AT will be dubbed Team...

  • Smashy-Face: Brutes
    • Forth Eorlingas: The Brutes all have weapon-based sets, i.e. Broadsword, War Mace, Battle Axe, etc. Shield Defense considered a plus.

  • Seafood: Kheldians

  • Firing Squad: Blasters and Corruptors
    • Sunset Riders: ...with gun-based powersets in general (Assault Rifle, Beam Rifles, Dual Pistols).
    • Reb Browns: ...with rifle powersets (Assault Rifle, Beam Rifles)
    • John Woo Gun Fu (JWGF): ...with Dual Pistols.

  • Zerg Rush: Masterminds
    • Robot Zombie Ninja Rush (RZNR): Each MM has a different pet type.

Hollows Marathon: Back when we use to have to run to the far corner of the hollows for a mission facing +4 to 6s.

Zone Marathons: Running from AP to PI using gates thru all the zones as a level one...Pity SSK killed that.

Pull/Skeet (told to the blaster...and there were more than one): The fun of sniping at max range to pull and 2 or more mobs are pulled bringing the full spawn.

Speed Cavern of Transcendence: Back when you could do the C.o.T. with 7 50s and the 1 that unlocked it.

Jello Wrestling Night: when the server could all do a hami raid, not the 50 or whatever it is now.

E.D.: Nuff said.

Dumpster Diving: Back when we use to herd a map into a dumpster, small space and let the blasters kill to PL alts.

Map Herding: Herding the hold map. On my desktop I got a some screen caps of the hollows being herded to the parking lot by the AP gate.

Caps? What Caps!: Before we got a aggro/target caps...good old days of Full Autoing a herded map.

That is all I remember off the top of my head.

I am taking my sig to MWO and MWT. Let them wonder what it means.

I understand why it had to change, but boy do I miss the fun of the dumpster diving map herding. Street targets still had some meat on their XP, too.

Tactics - The act of attacking an AV/end-of-TF boss face first successfully without planning, or sometimes without telling the team. 'Tactics!' '..Is the Brute soloing Nictus Rommy?'

Purpled purple - An IOd Warshade

Purplio - Purple Invention Origin enhancement

Bigpull - The act of multiple characters holding an aggro-cap worth of enemies each, be it on purpose or after all the squishies have died. Can also be pre-emptive where multiple Tank-like characters will pull their aggro cap worth of enemies so that the previously mentioned squishies *don't* die because there's no way to avoid over-aggroing.

I'd also like to vote for a free player who doesn't understand the lingo being a 'Freemer'.
