What's In a Name?

I have acquired quite a few AMAZING names over the past couple years that I am very very proud of. I may even have cause to believe some folks on Liberty server are in a state of "who the hell has that name!?"

My namesake of course, Demon Flare isn't all that great of a name, it is just old. Lol. People have either called me "Flare" "Demon" or "DF" since 2005 when I rolled the character. Having lost some interest in him after getting a bunch of badges and not really seeing the character flourish much more, I started developing Altitis. Bad altitis. I currently have maybe 4-5 slots left on liberty for new characters =D.

And now onto the names of my altitis adventures! (Couple screens of characters, may edit post with more. I'll add picture of Demon Flare soon.)

First we have Infernus Mage. My Fire/Kin controller. He has a interesting story because when I rolled the physical character his name was Monkey Laughter. I thought it was quite clever because I could picture/hear my fire imps running around and laughing maniacally while they shred through various enemy types =). I even had a typing bubble bind that popped up a grey afk window saying "You can't spell Slaughter without Laughter!" whenever I would hit enter to start typing.

After getting bored with the name I decided to play a little trickery with the free transfers a while back and acquire myself a new name. It was oh-so worth it! I scrapped my entire idea for the old concept and conjured up a new, exciting, powerful idea that re sparked the character. Infernus Mage is a re-animated Circle of Thorns volcano deity. Through long and intense rituals, the most powerful Mages from around Oranbega pooled their power and ressurected their dormant god!

This character is by far my most incredible creation in City of Heroes, character and build. Since then he has taken over as my main character, pushing Demon Flare out of the number 1 seat on my select screen.

Here are some of the other names/concepts I have developed =)

Infernus Mage Fire/Kinetics Controller (Yes, he can farm, but is able to do so much more!)

Time Machine (Soon to be) Time Manipulation character.

Fauxhawk (Soon to be) Street Justice/Willpower scrapper.
This guy is going to be a street punk that tore away from his gang.

Loudspeaker Sonic/Energy Blaster

Mirror Man Illusion/Kinetics Controller

Climate Storm/Ice Defender
And yes, the L in Climate is real =).

Flash Bulb Energy/Energy Blaster

I know I may have went overboard on the post, I just felt the need to be overly fancy with my reply today =D

I've picked up a few names that I like Justice Song and Freezing Frost strike me as suitably heroic although I play those two rarely and sonics aren't fun for me so Justice will likely get deleted in favor of something else.
I've really had some fun with silly names like Dr. Lingerie and Agent Hedgehog. Dr. got deleted but the man bitten by a radioactive hedgehog is still around as I play around in the costume creator to make him more spiky.
I'm enjoying Cuain my FF/NRG defender as she's ocean colored and her powers all look like water or bubbles.
My favorites are my sorcerer and sorceress characters like Violet. Originally from the early days of the Mu Oranbegan war an experimental spell sent them to the current day. Their names are actually titles as they were from mystical orders that eschew names, wealth, personal power, and glory. Having a strong belief in using their magic in service to others they became heroes upon arrival in Paragon City.

I really like Mirror Man, he looks awesome and so fits the name.

Here are most of my names (all on Freedom):

Characters Linky

Some brief descriptions of most of the level 50's....

Corymb (Force Field/Radiation Defender)- Alien pilot...the name describes a flower cluster.

Cursed Marionette (Ninja Blade/Super Reflexes Stalker)- A psychopathic living puppet.

Forethought (Mind/Force Field Controller)- Seemed to fit mind controller that bubbled before battle...

Frost Heave (Stone/Ice Tanker)- This investigative reporter's body was disposed of in Crey's Folly. Now he's a grotesque mindless instrument of justice consisting of rock and ice.

Heavy Mettle (Dark/Electricity Brute)- A brave robot that loves Heavy Metal music. Costumes inspired by Judas Priest, Axl Rose, Poison, Kiss and Iron Maiden.

Heir Head (Mind/Psionic Dominator)- Name is from a newspaper headline about Paris Hilton. She is trying to dominate the public will by excessive media exposure and mind control (and so is my character).

Kalenta (Dual Pistols/Traps Corruptor)- First mate and weapons specialist on Chronotrapper's ship. Name came from a random cat-person generator.

Liquefaction (Earth/Sonic Controller)- A nerdy geophysicist that was bullied into becoming a superhero. He used sonics to predict and generate earthquakes. Liquefaction is when saturated soil acts like a liquid during intense shaking.

Menlo (Electrical/Willpower Brute)- Thomas Edison's attempt at reanimating dead tissue conducted at his Menlo Park laboratoy.

Natanamani (Dual Blades/Super Reflexes Brute)- A Hindu warrior princess. The name means 'a dancer.'

Santuario (Battle Axe/Shield Brute)- An immortal conquistador. Spanish for sanctuary.

Seer Mneme (Fortunata)- She sees the past events of particular locations. Mneme is the muse of memory from Greek mythology.

Seisen (Ninjas/Trick Arrow Mastermind)- Former WWII Japanese soldier still fighting the war. Japanese description of the Sino-Japanese War as a 'Holy War' His pets are named after Japanese manufacturers...

Skycover (Dark/Storm Corruptor)- Weather term seemed to fit...

Stockyard (Demons/Dark Mastermind)- A cowgril that tried to save cattle from the slaughterhouse with dark magic. It backfired, and now she has reanimated cow part demons doing her bidding. Her pets are named Bessie, Elsie, Clarabelle and other cow names...

Superior Being (Electrical/Mental Blaster)- an egocentric alien from the same species as Corymb.

Surefyre (Energy/Energy Blaster)- A wounded soldier offered a second chance with cybernetic limbs.

Tour d'Ivoire (Gravity/Electical Dominator)- An eccentric scientist that harnessed gravity and electricity. Name is french for Ivory Tower.

Troglodyte Evolution (Robotics/Trick Arrow Mastermind)- An apeman that creates robots. His pets are named after famous apes/monkeys...Bubbles, Curious George, Mickey Dolenz...etc.

Vanity Freeze (Ice/Cold Corruptor)- Harnessed the process that created Baron Tundra and Frost Heave and used it on herself to preserve her beauty. It backfired and changed her skin blue.

VX (Mercenaries/Poison Mastermind)- He refuses to use lethal weapons, but his mercenaries are free to. He's like the anti-Batman. He conducts crimes for the thrill of it. He's named after the chemical weapon VX, which is just a ploy to strike fear in his victims. He was originally my entry in a character design contest on another forum before CoH came out. His pets are named after chemical, biological and nuclear weapons.

White Clover (Illusion/Empathy Controller)- A master of Celtic illusionary and healing magics. She was nicknamed Clover because of the luck bestowed on her family after her birth. She was also my character contest entry on that other forum that was never completed.

Zibelline (Claw/Regeneration Scrapper)- 'Having to do with sables.'

I have a few more names I like that are not 50's, but I needed to 'limit' this list somehow.

Okay been playing since Launch, so I have some really killer names. At least in my humble opinion.

Taboo-She's an Illusion empathy controller, my very first character I ever made. She's a sorceress, specializing in spirit magics. She like to dress in white and gold, simply because every magical based character I saw for months was in black. She is a bit sarcastic, and has been around Paragon for so many years she can be a bit cynical.

Icicle-Ice/Ice/Ice Blaster, naturally. One of my very few mutants.

Velvet Phantom-She got rerolled a couple of times, is currently a Martial arts/willpower scrapper. She follows in the path of her grandmother, the original Velvet Phantom from the Golden age of heroes.

Silk Silhouette – Kind of a homage character to Black Canary, without the sonic powers since as a scrapper you don't get that kind of cool stuff. Martial arts/super reflexes. She's a cop by day, and vigilante by night. Trying to bring in her former partners killer.

Impervium-Girl – Decided the “-” was better then a cheat like a upper case “I” for the end of girl. She is a Power girl homage style of character. A former Praetorian who got injections of a super formula to grant her super strength and invulnerability. It ended up being a plot by Praetor Berry to create a cadre of super powered soldiers. Since she was from Praetoria, she's a brute, not tanker.

I have some more, not as developed personality wise. Psilhouette is a mental blaster, Ms America a marital arts/shield scrapper in homage to Cap. And I have some Steampunk type characters who are thriving. Gaslight Harbinger, Gaslamp Hawk, Gentleman Stranger and Ophelia Oakley. Yes, far too much alt-ites for me.

My very first name, and global, was Kay Nova.

Kay is one of my nicknames... there is another one, but that one is secret... =^_^=
Nova was an inspiration from the White-Wolf game Aberrant, where the supers are called Novas...

Then, when I was creating the second toon, an inspiration hit me... All my toons will be Novas, so I adopted the pattern: NAME Nova.

A few of then are very descriptive:

Life Nova - Empath defender
Mindfire Nova - Psi/Fire blaster
Peebles Nova - Stone Tanker

Some are a little more cryptic, and could mean lots of things:

Magical Nova - Grav/Rad troller
Psiforce Nova - Ninja/FF Mastermind

And a few are kind of weird:

Experiment 2-XS Nova - Dual Pistols/Devices Blaster
Nyam Nyam Neko Nova - Warshade
Spice Nova - Fire/Thermal Corr

There is only one non-Nova name: Kaitlyn JMM - mercenary/storm MM.

My current name project is my homage project, with names from friends on the Guardian Server (the choice of ATs and powersets are inspired on the originals too):

Countess Nova
Coonie Nova
Casa. Nova (the . is important here... the original Casa likes to use .'s on her names)
Nezz Nova
GG Nova

** Guardians Crazy Catgirl **
************* 22 XxX 10 *************

Yes. I can get lost on a straight-line map.

I tend to re-use the same names a lot. Coming up with names for my characters has always been something that gives me trouble. I think I have a character named Criaga on just about every server I have bothered to make a character on.

I should point out that the character itself is never remade. Off the top of my head Criaga has been used for a Crab, a Stalker, and a Scrapper.

Now I need to double check how many of her I am currently working on.....

A few of mine, with their origins.

Agent of Discord - Whoo boy. This one started life with a Son/Son defender I never really played, Bass Silence. He wore white Tech Crey armor with blue markings, and a helmet. On a whim, I created a evil twin/praetorian/whatever for him, mostly because I liked how his outfit looked with the colors changed to black with yellow and in the (then brand new) Thief hood. He was named Bass Discord, a Son/Son corruptor which I also never played.

Fast forward some time, I feel like trying out a Mercenaries/Dark Mastermind. Mostly wanted to see how Spec Ops look. Browsing through my saved costumes, I come across Bass Discord's outfit. I liked the Discord bit, so I wanted to work that in. The phrase Agent of Discord crossed my mind - I wasn't aware there was a badge by that name.

In the end, Agent of Discord stopped using that outfit, but he became my first 50.

The second character I want to talk about is Winterborn. I am not one to find theme songs for my characters. I didn't for Winterborn. For him, the song found the character.

The song? Cruxshadows - This Sacrifice, better known as Winterborn. The song, for me, was perfect for a hero, a normal man who has powers, and though he has doubts, he puts his life down to protect others, time and again, even when he knows it will eventually kill him. An imperfect man, his hands bloody, who fights to protect.

Only problem? The name was taken. Winter Born didn't satisfy me. On a whim, I sent a tell to the owner of the name on Virtue. It turned out, the character WinterBorn was a lvl 4 or so created years ago by the owner's child. He deleted it for me. There was more rejoicing.

The only question now was the archetype and powersets. I knew I wanted him to be defensive. That meant Defender or Tanker. I tried out Cold/Ice defender, and it was even kinda fun, but around lvl 20 I realized that... it's not what I had in mind. He doesn't help from the sidelines. He puts down his life. He takes the hits. A Tanker it was, then.

I knew I couldn't play an Ice/Ice tanker. Of the two powersets, Ice Armor was much more appealing. In the end, I settled on Ice Armor/Super Strength. And sweet lord, did I love the character. Winterborn is my fourth (of five) lvl 50 to date.

I really like it when I manage to come up with something 'snappy' (me coming up with something is also being used to mean 'uses suggestion friend Ann comes up with') that gets across a good aspect of their powers or appearance.

Faves are:

-Geothunder stone/stone tank (although, he would have been a good earth/storm)
-Nachtlicht ice/ice blaster (her costume is based heavily off a luna moth's and her powers are cold like the moon would be. Her name is German for 'night light' and she's uh, named after one of my favourite my little ponies)
-Peppermint Shake stone/stone dominator. (she's under 'snappy', because it's a fun name to say. Her costume is white and red with striped leggings, and her powers are all gem stones meant to be like rock candy. She's the demon of tooth decay who decided to seize some real power)
-Stratosfear stone/storm controller. No real notes about him, I've never managed to really play the character, but I'm a big fan of his name.
-Silver Cygnet (I had plans to make this the same powerset as Swan, but I've decided to go with psychic/time manipulation controller once the new issue comes out. So getting a reroll and a better costume, but I swear, this is such a lovely costume)
-Love Lies Bleeding plant/thorns dominator. (Getting a reroll. Love the concept and the plant she's named after, but I already have a plant/thorn dom I love more. So I'm gonna keep her on ice until I find out what new stuff is coming for dominators)
-Spacegirl Slick energy/energy blaster. (She's my homage to Spaceman Spiff, a Calvin persona from Calvin and Hobbes. The only problem is when I share screenshots of her, people think spacegirlslick.jpg is Spacegirls Lick. /em facepalm)
-Smiles Morelli kin/nrg brute. (He's a Family character with a scarred up face. He's basically what the name says on the tin. Also gets his name, Morelli, from a character in The Thin Man)

Currently having a hell of a time naming a time machine character, though. Hester Day is good, but would work better on a human being.

Also, I'd like to say that there are a lot of awesome names in this game. Usually at least once a playing session I see one that makes me go 'gosh darnit! I SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT'

Oedipus Tex, I LOVE LOVE LOVE all your character names! Each one makes me wonder why didn't I think of that?

Love and adore word play, so that's what I tend to do on my toons, whether it's puns or something that just sounds good. Here is my list of favorite names, though it's really anti-climactic after Tex's.

-Eeek (mutated, test-animal mouse, who heard "eeek" so often when people saw her, she thought it was her name. Also occurred before caught for testing, so she proudly considers it her Free Name)
-Lu, the Bi-Polar Bear (Claws/DA mutated circus bear, attacked by Carnies whom she ate, but can't remember, due to severe PTSD)
-Punkerbell (DM/SD hover-tank, she is my anti-hugebody/thickneck stereotype tank)
-Aerie Faerie (EM/SD scrap. Magical lightening hit her nesting egg during the night of the wild hunt, creating hybrid fey/eagle)
-Bumblefly (when my son was tiny, he insisted bumblebees were called bumbleflies.)
-Zippy the Wondergirl (Super-speeding kid toon and homage to Teen Titans. She drinks a lot of Monster.)
-Gilded Lilli (lotsa gold going on)
-Gilt Complex (I really liked the gold)
-Barre Sinister (unemployed ballerina-gone-bad)
-Captain Crazypants (has an alien in her head. Is not crazy. The alien in her head is crazy. He tells stories of how he turns into giant squid and shoots people with his butt. PB, bio written because I always thought the kheld backstory was the goofiest thing I'd ever heard, and wondered why all these people telling stories about aliens inside them weren't getting locked up and given lots of medication)
-Overly-Precious Lass (parody of all the over-the-top, sicky-sweet, big-busted, cutesy toons. Sadly, a total failure in the sarcasm department, as the more cutesy crap I pile on her, the more genuine compliments I get on her look.)
-Lich Glitch (evil lich found out you can cheat death, but can't fool God. Is eternal-torture-in-hell-bound, unless she figures out what "good" is, and starts doing some of it)
-Penny Anti (anarchist whose bio reads "when the great revolution finally succeeds, I'll be against that, too")

Ones just had a nice ring to them, but have no particular meaning are: Draconis Majora, Toot Oddbottle, Watermelon Squash, Tahitian Pearl.

I also want to add that when I hear people say "all the good names are taken, even with alternate spelling!!" what they are actually saying is that they are thinking along exactly the same lines as 50 other people, and might need to think outside the box a little to come up with something that isn't so terribly common and redundant. Think outside the box a little, where there is lots of room!

Self-confessed pun addict, some of my favourite names are probably:

Judgement Dave - my 1st character and CoH was my 1st MMO, so I had no idea if people used their real names or completely made up character names - Judgement Dave was a safe compromise and appealed to my pun loving.

Failed Martial Monty - a merc MM who always wanted to be a soldier but could only get into the army as a cook (and was kicked out after failing at that).

Blast ofthe Mohicans - if only there was another character in the name - it irritates me slightly having no space in 'ofthe'.

Mother Four Cars - Made good money building inventions for Paragons heroes and bought herself 4 cars (as her family could never afford one when she was growing up). Now the rising cost of petrol has forced her to a life of crime to afford to run the cars. Not sure how gas prices are in the US, but this makes sense for a player in the UK...

Operative Word and Operative Phrase - my two SoAs.

Twanky - one of my widows. Not sure if that'll travel, as it's a pantomime reference.

Praetor Ian - guess who started out in Praetoria?

Bulk Logan - wrestling fan + steroids + need to bulk up = brute

John Constant Whine - my sonic/sonic defender created when trench coats went live.

Eye Clawdius - the claws scrapper who lost an eye when they got a bit in it and forgot that they were a claws scrapper. A lesson for us all there.

G'an Dee is obviously my peacebringer. Less obvious is my warshade being Shrub Bliar.

Marcus Coal - ex-coal miner tank. A slightly familiar costume... though he's never been kidnapped by Praetorians.

Poppacapotu - obviously a fiersome central American god returned to earth with a pair of flintlocks seized from conquistadors and imbued with his mystical righteous might.
Poppacapotu is not, I repeat NOT, just a poor excuse for dual pistols based puns. And his full name is most definately not Poppacapotu Inyoazz...

I quite like my praetorian demon summoner who gets their power from magical rings - Ring Binder - and my 1st character created after power customisation hit is a bubbler called Roy G. Biv.

By my mohawk shall ye know me!

Funny: Ee-Ai-Ee-Ai-Oh! #3662 * The foul-mouthed Handyman! #1076 * City of Norms #132944

Just happened upon this thread. 'Tis a fun topic.

When I make a character, it's often a weird conglomeration putting together a character, a story, and a powerset combo I'd like to play. Sometimes the powers/gameplay are the driving force, other times the story- but the name is what brings it together. A good name explains your character, makes you stick out. Other times it builds on the character story in an unexpected way. This isn't to say I'm stuck on a name- I've changed them sometimes, but it's rare.

My favorites: (for name, story, and powers coming together)

Dreameater: Once an abused orphan girl with psychic gifts, she learned to feed off of the psychic energy of others to sustain her own mind, and even body. She can cause foes to slumber, and they relax their mental barriers in that state, allowing her the deepest access to their most potent psychic energy- usually found in their passions, hopes, and dreams. She absorbs this energy, giving herself lengthened life and greater power, but leaving them fully capable physically, but incapable of any sort of desire, emotion, or fantasy. Hence, she's the "Dreameater."

Powers: Mind/Psi/Soul dominator. Mind/ covers the sleep portion, /psi has 'drain psyche and various mental attacks, and /soul has soul drain. All perfect for the whole "putting foes to sleep then taking their minds' power" theme.

The Watchman: He had three great powers: inhuman strength, strong physical resilience, and the ability to see through nearby matter and time. As he could observe, foresee and interrupt many criminal plots, the last made him too much of a threat. Using a magical trap, he was ambushed and captured, and his eyes were taken from him. They let him live, thinking he was no longer a threat. Problem was, he had seen every part of the city, and knew it through and through. He also still had his strength and resilience. As such, he navigates Paragon by memory, and what he can sense through feeling, hearing and even smell. These give him limited ability to navigate, but he makes due.

In gameplay: he's a Willpower/super-strength tanker. This covers the 'naturally resilient and strong' aspect, then I turn the gamma all the way down to simulate the blindness/limited awareness of the surroundings.I really could not make this character work as well with any other name. 'Watchman: the blind tank' just works too well.

Deathsman: (A Deathsman is an archaic term for an executioner) A former hero that gained the ability to manipulate the energies of life and death, he came to the conclusion that all of life's pain and suffering is due to life, and that real peace and rest can only come through death. As such, he seeks to save the world from its sorrow and struggles by killing everyone/everything that lives.

He is an energy melee/dark armor brute, allowing him to use his own life energy to attack (energy transfer) and suck the life from enemies and return to life as necessary. (Dark regeneration/Soul Transfer)

Pyrolator: (The word means "fire worshiper")A former villain who could control fire. He got caught, and lost everything, including his wife. Through regret and remorse, he came to the conclusion that fire is a force of purity, and should be used to cleanse. He thinks and he was judged for the misuse of its power, and is consumed with his quest to use it to burn away all evil from the world. He was once name 'Cremator,' but I find 'Pyrolator' matches his reverence for fire much better.

He's a fire/fire/fire dominator, and is capable of permanent rain of fire and up to three bonfires, matching his 'set the world on fire for justice' theme well.

The Viduate: (Viduation is the state of being bereaved/widowed) A male recruit to the blood widowed, he lost his wife and then was seduced by his overseer. When he found out she killed his wife, and that his colleuges had kept this a secret, he offed her and quit Arachnos. I like how the name is both a play on his being an ex-widow and a widower in mourning.

Silent Seth: A little boy who was abused by his father, something his family/neighbors ignored. He was locked away and could only play with his chemistry set, but found a way to escape making acids. He found a book of dark magic in a forest nearby as he escaped- when his father came for him, he used a dark spell from the book on him. The father tried to take the book away, but it kept returning to Seth. So Seth's dad sewed his eyes and lips closed, so even if he had the book, he couldn't read the spells or speak them. Seth knew the spells well enough to remember, though, and in revenge he poisoned his father, as well as the family and neighbors that had refused to intervene. He used his spells to resurrect them, and uses them as servants.

Seth is a Necromancy/Poison/Soul mastermind. The necromancy covers the undead servant part, (all pets named for family/neighbors) the poison covers the acids and chemistry he uses, and the dark/soul parts cover the dark magic. He always uses the stitched supernatural face. I like the alliteration of the name, and using though bubbles to speak. I just wish the 'silent' little lad didn't have a baritone when he jumped.

A name for me can be the difference between character longevity and the delete button. Sometimes things just doesn't work out for the vision in my head and what gets put together on the screen.

A list of my particular favorites that I have:

Dragon King - Fire/Energy Blaster: My first level 50 character and namesake. So old he should be using a walker by now.

Great-White - SS/Energy Brute: My first villain now a reformed hero. Designed from the ground up to take advantage of Mako's patron powers.

Mr. Rubber Ducky - SS/Shield Tank: My first tank to ever get past 10. Concept was as much fun as the powers and seemed to reach 50 pretty fast.

Nick O'tine - Fire/Dark Scrapper: When I was struggling with a particular habit.

Frostphorus- Fire/Ice Blaster: Idea from the History channel. Fire can burn so hot it would feel cold to you.

Jewjitsu - MA/SR Scrapper: This character came about because my four year old son pronounces jiu jitsu like this.

Maybe not extraordinary but I have grown to enjoy them.

One of my favourite character names isn't even mine, it's my wife's blaster.

She claimed it before a little alteration in the naming code, the primary is Sonic, her secondary is Elec.

The character name? Ow

Some of mine that I'm really pleased with (yes, I like a good pun):

- Arachnos crab spider agent Lester Word, known professionally as OPERATIVE WORD.

- Nurse Carrie Jones chipped in to save Paragon City as the heroic INTENSIVE CARRIE.

- Meek, menopausal housewife Midge Dungle underwent an experimental hormone replacement therapy (sponsored by the Crey Corporation, of course) and ended up the violent amazon XSTROGEN.

- Heiress Arizona Scotch-Pine became plant-controlling villainess HERBAL TEASE after a lab accident involving some questionable perfume.

- Disgruntled Paragon Sanitation Department employee Virgil Richards had an epiphany after removing 13,215th hydra corpse from a blocked sewer pipe. He could make more money knocking over a bank than spending his days up to his knees in green muck. Now he's the pipe wrench-swinging, manhole cover-carrying villain THE ROTO-RAIDER.

I have a few to choose from.

One of mine which gets a lot of "I can't believe you have that name!" exclamations is Space Cowboy. On Virtue.

I quite like Eleventeen. A robot named by a little girl.

Two of my anthro characters in the villain group Vermin are Slaughtermouse and Monkey Wench. Their heroic opponents in Wild Things include Razor Raccoon (a Claws Scrapper homage to Rocket Raccoon), Kung-Pow Chicken (a finger-lickin' good martial artist), Dynosaur (an electric lizard from an alternate Earth), and Boom-Boom the Panda, which gets a lot of praise.

One of my all-time favorite punny names is Nor'easter Bunny, a Playboy bunny bestowed with magical powers during a CoT attack on the Paragon City Playboy Club that took place in the midst of a, you guessed it, nor'easter. NB's evil counterpart is Ditzkrieg, whose bio is the only one I actually laughed out loud about while writing.

Also fond of Hell Toupe, a demon accountant who authorizes catgirls while working at the firm Heller-Highwater (say it out loud). Another demon is my whip MM named Whipper-Snapper.

Shockwave Rider is a reference to the proto-cyberpunk book by the late great John Brunner.

Flygirl and Jet Boy are sibling heroes.

Sleepless Knight is my immortal knight.

SonicDeathMunky is the simian mascot of Barry Jive and the Uptown Five. (Name that movie!)

My non-pun, classic superhero names that I really like include Switch Blade, a street-level vigilante, Mighty Lad, a teen transported from 1950 to today, Barbarian Boy, another teen who happens to be a fictional character brought to life, Doctor Omen, whose name says it all (c'mon, it's Doctor Omen! How can you not love that?), USAim, a Dual Guns guy, Star Guard, the cliche "alien cop stranded on Earth" guy, and lots more.

I often resort to using a thesaurus, but my favorite names didn't come from there. It will be really nice when we get free monthly server transfers, so I can change names on some old toons that just didn't work out for me.

I have a pretty easy time making up names for fire and ice characters, because there are a lot of words that go with "Fire" or "Frost". Others can definitely be more difficult.

Lady Larceny Thugs MM -Virtue

Shoguness Ninjas MM - Virtue

Wicked Winds /Storm - Virtue

Rift Wraith Energy/Dark Brute - Virtue

Baroness Von Bolt - Virtue, Trying to come up with a new build for her.

Baron Von Blitzkrieg - Pinnacle. Dark/Rifle

And my favorite:

Doctor Deviance - (Reserved on all the NA servers)

My first toon on this account was Brimstone Berzerker, hence the online name.
