SyFy is showing the 1979 Captain America TV Movies.

Cap's outfit kinda reminds me of Fighting American.

Well, considering the '79 movies starred Reb Brown and the 90's one didn't; I'd say that's game set and match, 1979.

Anything was better than the 1990's movie. When the lead actor is visibly wearing padding to fill out his shirts, wearing rubber ears on the mask, and the shield's the star of the show, and Christopher Lee was in the second 1979 movie...

1979.

Don't forget the groovy van with the plush wall to wall carpeting.

Costume and shield was better in the 1990 film.

I can't help but notice that in the new flick, Cap mounts his shield on the front of his motorcycle, just like Reb Brown did in '79. A deliberate call-back?

The music from the motorcycle scene is what I hear every time I think of Captain America.

I caught a few mins of the 1979 Captain America flick. It was just enough time to see him do a shield throw and then run down some creep in a dune buggy on the beach.

The costume and shield were absolutely terrible. You can hear the plastic *whomp* as the shield hit the bad guy. It was comical but understandable due to the age and all.

Is this 79 movie(s) what Conan has been showing recently as previews of the new movie?

Global = Hedgefund (or some derivation thereof)

I think in the comics Cap has rode with the shield on his back or on the front of the bike as needs dictate.

The costume and shield were more accurate in the 1990 film, yes.

Sadly that is about all I can think of in terms of good things about 1990 movie.

Forgot to mention the simulated wood paneling. Sadly I wanted a van like this back in '79.

Anyone know if these are coming out on DVD? I have the 40's serial, the old 60's animated and even a copy of the 90's film. I've been looking for these for a while now

I couldn't agree more.

I just keep thinking of Spoony's review of the sequel, "Death Too Soon," when Cap confronts Christopher Lee's character...

I haven't heard of them going DVD, I doubt there is much demand for them but perhaps with the success of this new movie maybe they will make a few DVD's of these.

Now the motorcycle helmet as part of his mask isn't too bad if an idea if it's a kevlar helmet, but I suspect it wasn't.

That's kind of what I'm hoping for; something like a 2-disk set that has them all collected together. I doubt it would cost too much to produce nowadays, and with some of the stuff I've seen put on the shelves it doesn't seem too far fetched either.

Here's to hoping
