Communities Thoughts on EA revamp.

I'm curious to see how everyone feels about the upcoming revamp and proliferation of Energy Aura? My first 50 was and still is a Super Strength Energy Aura brute that as time has gone by especially when i compare him to my Dark Melee Shield brute he feels so pathetic in terms of survival not really comparing DPS. Even when soft capped he still feels lack luster so i'm hoping the upcoming change will be what he's needed to feel uber to me. Having a straight heal with regen boost will be nice plus the recharge buff being added to the new Entropic Aura sounds sweet. on top of that the thought of rolling an Energy Aura stalker sounds nice becuase of the change of Repel to Disruption.

So how about everyone else? Its kinda of sad for me to say that with despite all the awesome upcoming content to issue 21 this is the one thing i'm looking forward to the most.

Technically I think they are since its my understanding that they made Energy Aura becuase in beta Ice armor didn't work out for brutes, the slows at the time broke fury building so they made EA instead.

All I know is my gut says "maybe"

"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict

While the current EA doesn't have as much going for it as SD for sure, I think its pretty unfair to compare SD with DM vs. EA and not DM.

I think the proposed changes sound very good, but its basically too early to tell how good the revamp will be.

Long overdue, and welcomed.

I'd also like to see AR reworked (Beanbag for Teargas, or Flashbang, something like that), and DP have its damage increased. (Its poultry) But, I digress, it'll be nice to have EA more viable.

Sounds like a street justice/energy aura is in my future.

I just hope the defense numbers stay the same, and I hope my character remains invisible (graphically). I based my build around softcapping defense. I based my costume and auras (and the way they interact with the invisibility effect) around my character's background/concept.

As long as those two aspects arent taken away, I will be fine.

I think the set is already solid fully io'd. Without IO's it's middle of the road.

With these changes imo it's likely to become the premiere defense set.

At soft capped defenses hits hardly come through and when they do you'll have energize's heal+regen. Stack t4 rebirth and you are going to be very solid. Add spiritual alpha into the mix for bigger heals and regen and it's just gravy.

If the +recharge per foe hit is decent and the +defense is this set is gonna go from decent when IO'd to really nice.

Mark my words.

I think it will be very good. One of my first 50s was an Ice Armor/Fire tanker, and once I softcapped myself with the help of Energy Absorption, it was good, and on a high-end build, with recharge to take advantage of the endless endurance, and the def from Energy Absorption was a very comfortable buffer against defense debuffs.

I'm guessing that the revamped EA will perform similarly, very strong vs. most content with a need to be aware of the set's defense holes. The stealth power could be used on an IO build situationally while still maintaining softcap, resists will be upped to be more like /Shield (is my guess), and xxx/EA/soul will be a min/maxers dream. Though my first will probably be an ss/EA/energy for theme (laser eyes and energy projection, stomping alongside a Vickie!).

Yeah since now Stalkers will get both I see no reason to play a /Ice stalker with the /EA changes, after all EA gets a better heal than Hoarfrost (with stalker stupid borked hp cap Hoarfrost is just a heal) and more def from the +end power which drains more than ice's (15 end for ice, 25 for ea from each mob). And there's the recharge bonus too.

I wonder how C. Embrace will work in Stalkers. Will it keep aggro? It'll be a first for them.

My biggest fear with it and the super reflexes powerset, is taking one hit, then having your green bar turn red because 95% of your health points are taken away by that one blow that got through and having to use alot of greens to stay alive and not get 10 bars of debt.

Not to mention, those Rikti Pylons in the Rikti War Zone. I think that would be annoying having to go to a Mission near the Rikti Mothership and accidentally getting too close to a Pylon and BAM!, you have to go to the hospital and start all over again because the Pylon Shot you and killed you with one attack. That has happened before with my illusion/empathy controller.

But it's not going to stop me from making a Kinetic Melee/Energy Aura Brute and an Energy Melee/Super Reflexes Brute when issue 21 comes out. Because we got LOTS of players reading this with level 50 Super Reflexes toons and they do fine and they love giving out advice on how to do well with a Super Reflexes toon. We wouldn't have that many players with level 50 Super Reflexes scrappers, brutes and stalkers, if it was such a horrible powerset. I see Energy Aura getting more popular because of it's revamp.

1) EA has resistances currently, and has slightly less SM/L than SD.

2) After the changes EA will have both a self heal (it has one currently), as well as a +Regen Power.

We shall see for sure... My first level 50 villain was a SS/EA Brute and was a lot of fun until he got to the high level mobs. He has been sitting patiently waiting for some help from the Devs.

Street Justice/EA Brute will be in my hands soon enough. I just hope the +recharge isn't just a minor bonus. If it can stack up to decent levels I will be very pleased. And if Energy Drain works like Energy Absorption then it will be pretty sturdy on just SOs.

I don't think we will run into an issue where EA eclipses SD. AAO and Shield Charge are just too strong. It will be nice to have a another defense option other than SD.

It might eclipse SR and Ice (for those who have Ice) though. SR gets too little for too many powers, although the DDR is nice on it.

See I'm hoping they'll give us the option to chose whether or not we're invisible, similar to Dark Armor. I'd like to be able to see my toon. I have nothing against the stealth mechanic especially now since we have a taunt in Entropic Aura bu ti want to be able to see all of my costumes and my character attacking.

I believe itll be a Sturdier version of Shields. Shields will still be the premier offensive set, and with T4 Rebirth backing it with heavy IOing, Shields is pretty strong.

Now take that and add a Solid heal with Regen, and further adding more defense buffering for iTrials AND endurance management, and instead you have a sturdier set with a bit of a Psi Hole. T4 Rebirth + Energize + Spiritual = some hefty HP recovery on a set that for the most part wont be getting hit all that much.
