Time Manipulation, Null the Gull, and VIP Server questions
Go through my ticket history or talk to GM LLoyd or Grackle. It's a miracle we're still talking. I thought my sub already ended.
I want to say this again. This was a fun game but I was due for a change. I'm trying to be as positive as I can in my final communication. I did try to resolve my issues before I resigned. I wish you all the best. |
You know we don't have access to your support account, right?
Wait, why am I asking this?
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.
Tell us more about this bug. Since Ironblade and I both spend quite a bit of time in the Gameplay / Technical Issues and Bugs section helping players with problems (and possibly several others that have posted in this thread as well), it would be beneficial to know what you are talking about in case others bring up the same item.

GM Lloyd, Grackle and any other support staff are not allowed to discuss anything related to other players with us, just as the forum rules do not allow us to make public any private communication with any NCSoft employees be they Devs, OCR team members, support staff, GM's, Moderators, or any other position without their permission. So that doesn't help either.
I don't understand why you won't discuss what you consider to be a bug while making comments like this one:
If you will explain what that cooldown timer bug is, perhaps we can help. Perhaps not. I know of several times that people have worked with the GM staff or support staff and not been able to resolve a problem but other players were able to help resolve it when they posted about it.
If someone else mentions it after you've told us about it, we won't be answering with comments similar to "As far as I know there is no cooldown bug."
If you aren't willing to discuss things with people that are trying to help you or possibly help others in the future, I really don't know what to say.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Am I a paid bug tester, Texas? I took it as far as I could. Even though you offer help this game is owned by Ncsoft/Paragon/Crpytic(ip only).
20/20 vision here, ok? I played the game a lot....some months I was doing more than 65 hours.
The game was fun at sub 50, okay?

Mmmm, good luck with sussing out the problem, Ironblade and Texas_Justice. Although i suspect it'll turn out to be pretty simple. *Groucho Marx eyebrow waggle*
And for god's sake, if people on the forums are bothering you, I feel your pain, some here have gotten on my last nerve too. (Many of them gone now, funny enough.)

I know why you asked...
Can I ask you a question? If "official support" couldn't fix it why do you think you can? If your not even paid by NCSOFT, why do you care? I find your attempts insincere. |
You, personally, have received less helpful responses largely due to the fact that you usually begin with an incorrect assumption, and, rather than accepting that you might have made a mistake with a little bit of grace when someone corrects you, you usually respond with an attitude.
After a while, your pattern of behavior was noted, and people began responding to anything you posted as if your attitude was in the forefront in every post. It may not be fair, but that is what happens when you build a bad reputation for yourself in the community. The only way to repair that reputation is to consistently show that you have changed.
As you have already given up on this community, I think it unlikely that you will do so, but stranger things have happened.
If you can't view my tickets, we can't really have a meaningful conversation can we now? Thanks for reminding me about the indirect reason I quit.

There are people here who genuinely want to help you, but you need to let them do that if it is going to happen. Telling them to look up your tickets, even if they could, is not helping them help you. That is you asking them to do all of the legwork while you reap the fruits of their labor. You already noted that they would be volunteers. The only payment they receive from helping people with their tech problems is the knowledge of a job well done, and maybe a "Thank you."
There is a saying, "The Lord helps those who help themselves." The Lord has placed people in your path who might be able to help you (Ironblade and Texas Justice), but the only way they even stand a chance to do so is if you provide them the information they need. By helping them, you help yourself.

Even I was trying to help you, though it may not have appeared so because I was also being critical of you. I simply pointed out that you have a bad reputation in the community. I would like to help you repair that reputation. I don't want you to leave.
Criticism does not equal scorn, and there would be a lot more "GTFO" and "lrn2playnub" in this thread if we wanted to see you gone.
By sub 50, did you mean that the game was fun up until you reached 50 months subscribed (of your 65), or that the game was fun when you were playing characters below level 50?
If the former, then maybe it is time to take a break and do something else for a change. We'll leave the light on for you, and more than a few people will probably greet you warmly the next time you walk through that door.
If the latter, then I need to ask: Why in the world are you wasting so much time grinding trials with your 50s? Why are you rushing through the "fun levels" in order to get to 50? Almost seven years in the game, and I have well over 150 alts spread across 14 servers (I haven't made any alts on Zukunft or Defiance yet, and it may be a while after Freedom launches before I make anyone on the FREEEM server). All those characters, and I only have two 50s, because I have fun playing the sub 50 game.
When you return, feel free to hit me up and I'll give you some tips about how I keep the game fresh and fun for me no matter which alt or level I am playing. If my methods work out for you, that would be awesome.

All I'm asking for is some information about the bug you mentioned since it isn't something I've heard of, and someone else might mention it sometime. I'd prefer not to say "well, I've heard a report about some bug with the cooldown timer and incarnate slots but I don't have any other information so I'm not sure if it's the same problem".
You asked someone earlier why they thought they could fix it if official support couldn't. We've had several examples over the years of support not knowing the solution to a problem that players already knew the solution for. One example would be the WindowBlinds program not allowing the game to start. Another would be the drivers for Wacom graphics tablets conflicting and not letting the game start. Those are just two examples I can recall off the top of my head that official support didn't know how to resolve but players did know how.
You also asked them why they care if they aren't NCSoft employees. Several of us care about helping others, even if we aren't NCSoft employees. It's been that way since the original forums. The original forum moderators were other forum members that volunteered their time to help others. One of them has had his character put into the game in the tutorial after he died. I'm fairly sure you've seen Coyote in the hero tutorial. Just one example of someone that cared about helping others, even though he wasn't an NCSoft (or Cryptic at that time) employee.
Some of us just enjoy helping others. Some of us just enjoy solving technical problems. That's why I do Technical Support for a living, and did it on the side before it was my job, I just like digging through things and finding a solution.
I'm trying really hard here to be helpful. Even if you won't allow me to try to help you, I'd at least like to know what the bug is so that I can try to help other players in the future.

I'm not angry, I'm just laughing. You could let us help you, or you could ragequit. (Or sequentially ragequit?) Since it doesn't affect my game experience at all, the choice is yours. I don't care.

This confuses me why would you be mad and leave the game cause the devs are adding a new power set?

This is still bugging me as well. None of what he is saying makes any sense to me about this. He's thinking of deleting a character to make a new one with the new powerset, but doesn't want to respec now because they take time? I really don't get what one has to do with the other. Then he's mad that he doesn't know how many slots he'll need for the powers in the new sets, when his current build schemes don't make any sense anyways.
|
Several of us tried to explain to him that Time Manipulation is going to be a Primary or Secondary powerset for some ATs, so he would not be able to respec his existing character into the set. That is my interpretation of his /ragequit over Time Manipulation.

Is the "bug" perhaps that you can't switch your Incarnate abilities rapidly? Is it saying you've been in combat too recently to switch? Is it telling you that you can't switch abilities because your Incarnate powers are still recharging?
If it's one of the above, those are all intentional design limitations on the system, not bugs. (I'm not 100% sure, but I think it counts your teammates' combat actions against the 5 minute cooldown timer as well.)

I love this game. I've been playing it for waaaay too long. I would like to make this game fun for the OP. I think, if we can get past the whole /emowrathquit thing, we can.
Now that they've, ostensibly, deleted every character they own, uninstalled the game, and canceled their account because of new, free content...it's too late.
Plenty of other people to help out.

I did enjoy the game but my point was that this is a game.
I deleted my characters to show that. I have no hard feelings about this game. It's just time to play something else. I had issues with numerous incarnate bugs that the devs can't seem to wrap their arms around. Before I had deleted my characters, I was playing 60-65 hours a month. I was wasting resources just maintaining these characters, couldn't use all of the incarnate slots due to the cooldown timer bug, the incarnate powers at the top levels were lame, and I decided I just wanted out.... The time manipulation thing was the last straw. Also, AGG was the first person to comment when I joined COH so it was fitting I go out on his comments. Thanks for the fun and good luck with "Freedom" P.S. I did remove/cancel all of my account stuff but NCSOFT doesn't remove you completely. This was surprising. |

And the recharge limitation on switching out abilities might be avoided by switching builds (it resets the recharge on things like self-destruct and the accolades (demonic/eye of the magus)). Even if this works it has limited usefulness, however, as the cooldown for switching builds is much longer than the recharge of any (current) incarnate ability. And if you don't have a combat ready second build? well...

The more detail you can give about it the better. It may also help anyone on the Dev team that reads it to be able to reproduce the issue. Several of us have been known to send PM's to the Dev team when a good write up about a problem is posted, just to make sure that they are aware of it and possible steps for them to reproduce it.
