Lots of people said that during Beta. I agree with the people who think that's the point; not everybody wants great big pets.

Yes the Polar Lights are really pathetic!!!! Use your vet wisp and you have a set of 3 all different colors!!!
No no..I dont want great BIG pets. I was just expecting something that did NOT look like a vet power?? I like the wisp vet power..as a vet power. Not as a damn boss class pet! Checking the wispy things in croatoa now..to compare sizes. The sprites...thats the kinda thing I was expecting.
Also..since the boss lore pets do such major damage..it makes sense..to see your longbow, roman, clockwork pet hitting for a stack...seeing a tiny glowbug hitting for more damage than you do? Come on!
They could have made them at least the size of the Sprite in Croatoa!!! Would have been better than the size of a wisp!
I find them to be a nice size. Not everyone wants colossal pets. To prevent further dissatisfaction with a pet size in the future, may I suggest going to the tailor and customizing the lore power, you will see your toon cast the pets. For size queens, Polar Lights are not the choice.
I like Polar Lights (as well as Drones). Not every concept calls for a hulking or even human-sized pet behind you, and for those who do, all other pets are like that.

Don't blame the devs for your lack of thought. There are pictures of the pets all over the internet.

I got the Polar Lights specifically because they're small and I'm so satisfied with it that my other tech-based characters will be getting Robotic Drones next.
I know that my Mind/Psi/Fire will take the polar lights as her pets (Not thematic but I can say that they are figments of her imagination/insanity)
My Earth/Ice/Ice...I dont know what to take! The Polar Lights have -Def and so does my primary so I dont see why I should get the Lights since all that -Def to some degree gets wasted.
What should I get?

I have absolutely no need for -DEF, but I like the idea ofusing the Polar Lights as temporal anomalies. And use them for their additional (but not the best) damage capabilities.
Though I have no idea what all the Polar Lights debuff...is it just -DEF?

Still, they are generic enough that they fit for more than a few of my toons.
Now the Robot Drones...I admit I expected Battle Drones instead of the Vet Pet.

I'd have prefered them to be a bit bigger... maybe somewhere half-way between the Vet wisp and the Croatoan version... but they're pretty little things as they are, and I've always liked the PB blasty visuals and sound effects.
(Plus, they "go" very well with my Incarnate peacebringer's look. Double-win!

The point of the Polar Lights was for them to be nondescript, unobtrusive and concept-flexible.
They can be anything from the spirits of your character's dead parents, some kind of technological constructs, focused qi energy or whatever you need them to be.
People asked for this in the many discussions about Lore pets and I asked for pets that looked like wisps specifically, and I am very satisfied with them.

I also chose Polar Lights for their unobtrusiveness.
With that said, has anyone seen a Borealis Essence use its heal?

I'm beyond happy with my Storm Elementals. I've been wanting them as a pet for years, and I was soooo hoping that we'd get them as a Lore pet option. The devs have made me quite happy.

I think because of the look I will take them on my storm def. Big is not always good. And they fly... which is perfect for a flying toon.
That is also the reason why my vampire stuck to the Seers... although I think I might also do the Storm elementals. It is really handy when they follow you when you fly.

I am glad there are pets that aren't honkin' big. I do wish the boss pet was something other than just a different color, though. It could be bigger and a bit ... meaner looking without being super-sized.

Ok, new lore pets..yay. Question for people...has anyone else made the polar light pets and...been TOTALLY underwhelmed by how they look?? They are just the same size as the vet wisp pets!! Has anyone seen how WTFHUGE the longbow boss pet is? And polar lights look like that? Come on, really.
