Nope. I was responding mockingly to another posters simplistic and nonsensical solution.

And if you read the rest of my responses you'd have seen I quite clearly said that at some point we have to trust people we invite into our SG's or we will soon find ourselves alone in solo SG's.

Both in real life and online, you use your judgement. Yes, that will result in some SG's getting robbed. Guess what, people get robbed in real life by people they trust EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Exactly. That's why we lock our cars instead of leaving them unlocked. We know for a fact that the majority of people will walk right by our cars and never even think of breaking in. We know we can trust them but we lock them out anyway to prevent the handful of crooks from ripping us off because an unlocked car is a target of opportunity.

/help: Sewer team forming at the sewer entrance. If you are interested come on over and ask superdude for an invite. First come first served.

from what I heard, there was mention of Premiums being able to use global channels depending how long they were subbed.

Also, the picture Forbin posted also said right below it, that it's subject to change.

You're not willing to make a free account, spend like a buck or two and buy it a nice hat, permanently converting it to a premium account, and then use that to manage your personal SG?

Yes I know which is why I was adding some feedback about the program. To help the devs make up their mind.

Go here: http://www.amazon.com/City-Heroes-Pc/dp/B0001DLLWC

Now you have a sub account for $1.11 for 30 days. You can manage your alts right now. When Freedom goes live, you have a premium account all ready to go.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

Misuse of help channel. That is not what the help channel is supposed to be used for.

The basic functioning of the system should not rely on misusing the system we have in place.

Anyone saying these limitations on the free accounts is a good idea loses all right to come in here in October complaining about help channel spam and a huge increase in blind invites.

It will be like it was back in the beginning of CoH: people used to congregate by the gate in the Hollows, using local chat to find other players. People didn't understand the team search window, or didn't bother to use it.

And then the same thing happened when AE teams were big: everyone stood around in the AE building looking for teams using zone or local chat

For that matter, it's that way for trials right now. The vast majority of league members come from people standing around in a staging area like RWZ or Pocket D. They use broadcast/local chat to announce the formation of trials and player availability.

F2P players will quickly learn the same lessons and congregate in similar places.

Personally.... I will not move to the VIP server and will form teams with my awesome toons using the /search. A lft function the f2p people will have.

I will make friends... and I will show them what the game has to offer.

I will treat them like new potential subbing players... and I will ask the rest of my rather big SG to do the same.

Only then can this game get better from this move...

- The Italian Job: The Godfather Returns #1151
Beginner - Encounter a renewed age for the Mook and the Family when Emile Marcone escapes from the Zig!
- Along Came a... Bug!? #528482
Average - A new race of aliens arrives on Earth. And Vanguard has you investigate them!
- The Court of the Blood Countess: The Rise of the Blood Countess #3805
Advanced - Go back in time and witness the birth of a vampire. Follow her to key moments in her life in order to stop her! A story of intrigue, drama and horror! Blood & Violence... not recommend to solo!

I see nothing posted by the devs that says players who only have access to the local, team, and help channels can't use the help channel because they need help getting invited to a team, or help recruiting teammates.

If you know of such a post please link it. I would appreciate seeing it for myself.

How about this, allow any player to *respond* to any /tell sent to them? That way at least you don't have to blind invite 'Freeks' if you don't want to. They can't *initiate* any conversations via /tell but at least they can talk back when spoken to. And in conjunction with that, have any invites they send state that they can't initiate such conversations. That way, the blind invite they are forced to send at least excuses it's blind nature and if you're curious to know more, you can /tell to them for more info and they can respond back. Basically sort of an 'opt-in' system for talking to them directly.

It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.

But why would people have to send blind invites to free players? Free accounts can't respond in most of the channels but they can see what's being said in them.

Just announce in broadcast that a team is being formed at a certain location, like the entrance to the Hollows for example, and then invite the players that show up. People have been doing this successfully for years.

I thought Preemies didn't have SG leader/invite access?

*shrugs*

Evil: The game for a buck? Huh! Wow, that... that's tempting...

I may have missed that if they can't invite at all.

Although this brings up an interesting question. Many of the boxed sets have a month subscription (all of them I think). Does that mean all those cheapo old boxes of City of Heroes floating around technically contain a month of VIP? If so, you could buy one of those and have a second VIP account for a month. You could set up a personal SG in that month, and after it expires perhaps there will be a way to unlock invite privileges for premium accounts down the road.

I wonder how they plan on dealing with that. But I think I'm going to start stocking up on dollar CoH boxes.

I think the best thing the devs can do is give ALL players better content. Stop with the repetition and the re-hash...that isn't new or different than what we've been doing for years. It might help if you would fix some of the original TFs as those will be some of the things many new players will see first; not the best first impression by this game nor does it represent the game very well.
