The Crow reboot is at this time is being written by Alex Tse and directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (of 28 Weeks Later fame). On top of all that Bradley Cooper is "attached" to play the part of Eric Draven......

Personally I think The Crow series of movies should be laid to rest and left alone..... Ah well, I supposed in Hollyweird its all about making the mean green......

So maybe they should just rename it The Emu if Bradley Cooper is the lead.

You say that like it's only a Hoolywood thing. When it's really a 99% of everyone thing!

After actually siting down to read the original comics a number of times and watching the film I can see where there could be some improvements. The film and the comic both have their strengths, and they have their weaknesses. Depending on how well this reboot is made it could really Stand above The Brandon Lee film as long as they can manage to avoid making Eric a Pining whiney manchild ghost. The movie never really showed how pained Eric felt being back in the world while Shelly wasn't there...But I suppose having a number of scenes with the hero mutilating himself while dancing around his home would be a bit odd...

Here's the thing... there's no reason to "reboot" The Crow. (Well, other than to do a better job with the second and fourth movies.)

The Crow is not like Superman or whatnot - it's not the same person every time. It's not one individual. It's a different person with a different story and a different reason for coming back (well, other than "to set something right / revenge.") Do a fifth Crow, sure - been waiting for it for a while (and for some time there was talk of the fifth Crow movie having a female Crow.) "Reboot/remake?" No.

While I enjoyed 2 and 3 (havent seen 4th) I bet they're thinking "We need Eric Draven in it to get people to show up" instead of "We need to make these movies AWESOME!"

Basically their thinking is the sequals werent successes due to no Eric Draven.

Though, that said, it might just be a difficult hero (or heroes) to pull off successfully in a movie you want to make mainstream.

There's another reason why they'd want to reboot the original, quite frankly it's the best of the Crow stories. I've seen all the Crow movies, the t.v. show, read the other comic stories, and the other Crow novels.

Even though the t.v. show dealt with the original story, it went way off track, and tried to do too many things. It lost all connection from the original material besides using character names, setting, etc...

Now the reason why the original comic story is the best, is because the feeling that was poured into the work. The emotion is almost tangible. The original film used just several of the scenes from the book and those were some of the strongest scenes of the film.

The only other story that really worked for me, was Quoth the Crow. It was a good story, but I don't think it was good enough to turn into a film.

"Caw! Caw! Bang! %$#! I'm dead!"

Please stay that way. Hollywood today leaves me hollow and far more cynical than I have any desire to be. I hear so many rumours of reboots of film that do not need rebooting. This is one of them.

Talk about unnecessary. The original is not old and is quite good...

I could maybe go for it if they wanted to try for a different approach that would be good (like the recent True Grit), I'm rather doubting it with The Crow.

The first one was good, but all the others were horrible. If they could do something good with the characters, why not make another?

The first movie was well done the others were not. The TV series was horrid. Also I think the Crow franchise suffers a bit from the fact that Brandon was killed while making the first one. Let this franchise go people.

The second was bad mostly because of editing, as I recall - chopped things up a fair bit. The third, I actually liked - especially starting with the future Crow when he's alive. It could use more polish, but I didn't think it was horrid. The fourth... concept, ok. Execution = "Hey, we have the dude from Angel free now, let's use him!"on top of just being awful and not very... crow-ish, as presented.

Not old? it came out 17 years ago. And by the time they got around to making it, im almost sure it would be pushing 20. So, yeah, its an old flick. Just not as old as some.

But i agree with Bill. The Crow is a simple enough concept to reapply without needing to rehash eric Draven's story. Not fond of them doing a reboot, but as long as i still have my DVDs of the original, at this point, why should i give a damn? i wont be spending any money on it.

Eric Draven = Eric D Raven = Eric the Raven

They could just use the last name Draven and make a new Crow. Hollywood indeed appears to be ignoring the concept that the Crow isn't just one person. Too bad Marvel applied that concept and created the Ghost Rider Corps that we saw in the last volume of GR.....
