The game ran out of memory and must now exit.
The CoH Helper log you linked to is missing some info. Looks like it got cut off some how. Is City of Heroes installed on your D: drive? If so, that's definitely a problem since you are seriously low on space there (2% free).
But still I fear and still I dare not laugh at the madman!

Yeah, it looks truncated.
Also, that a lot of pagefile usage.
Post the full results of a CoHHelper report here in this thread. Also, please post a HijackThis report:
- HijackThis - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format > Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.

Okay, running 4GB, showing as just under 3GB with 1.5GB free. The game will use up to 1.5GB before going unstable.
You have a 3GB page file of which 2.6 is currently in use.
One of your filesystems is below 2% free space (well past the point at which FAT and NTFS filesystems take a massive performance dive and filesystem management becomes difficult to impossible).
So yeah, you're running out of memory and swap space when in the game, as the system is ALREADY loaded out before you ever fire it up.
I've tested a bit further and this is happening when there is plenty of free ram and swap space. Also note I increased my swap file to 4 gigs.
This is what windows was reporting at the -exact- time of my last crash:
Physical Memory (MB)
Total 2934
Cached 371
Available 372
Free 2
Commit 4565/7133
So as you can see there is free physical ram and swap space available... Why is COH crashing?
Below is another coh-helper output:

Just what did you have open in Chrome? Looks like you've got a whole lot of Chrome processes open. If you're running a ton of Flash-heavy sites (eg, games), they can suck quite a bit of memory themselves.

Besides - I'm starting to think the problem is not even related to memory. As stated in my previous post - the crashes happen even when there is free ram / swap space.
You still aren't getting the full CoH Helper output into your posts. And please, don't use the code tags, just paste it into the post.
To run CoH Helper correctly download and save it to your desktop. Right-click the saved file and select Run As Administrator.
Click the Forum Output button and wait for it to finish. Start a new reply in this thread and hold the CTRL button down and tap the V key. This will paste the CoH Helper output into the post. If the CoH Helper output still ends at your Sound Drivers, something on your system is preventing it from accessing the Registry. You'll need to correct that in order to get the complete output.
It's also possible that if it is something on your computer blocking CoH Helper from accessing the registry that that same something is also keeping the game from accessing the registry correctly or other files on your computer.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
After fighting the headache of trying to scroll through the HJT log, I'd recommend shutting down WinPatrol, your Remote Potato and Team Viewer, KMPlayer, Snackr, xchat and Messenger and possibly even the AVG ID Protection stuff.
I would definitely stop the Input Director services.
If these steps resolve the problem you can enable them one at a time and test for a few days to find out which is causing the problem.

Anyone else have any theories as to why CoH would say it is out of memory when it is not?
I got the same error just now:

When I got dumped, I noted that I had around 500 MB of RAM left. Once the app fully exited, this went up to 1.8 GB of free RAM. I am running Win 7 Pro x86 w/4GB of RAM (not all addressable). Now I do have other apps running so next time I play, I'll stop all but the essential stuff and see how it goes. I am wondering if one now needs to run x64 & 6GB+ lol

Shut the NCSoft launcher after starting the game. It's even available as a setting option IN the launcher. There is a known memory leak, and the launcher does NOT need to be running all the time.
There is a full report there on my second post, in the code window which you find so difficult to handle.
|
As for the code tags being more difficult to handle, not everyone is running on a wide screen monitor or even a high resolution monitor. I'm often posting from an odd location while taking a lunch break or while waiting for software updates to install on a computer at work, such as on that day. The computer I was on was an older laptop with a lower resolution screen and no mouse or touchpad. The forum posts barely fit the width of the screen for normal posts. The use of the code tags expanded the width of the post making scrolling more difficult within the tags since it also required scrolling horizontally as well as laterally. That makes it difficult to scroll back and forth for referencing entries in the post. And since the code tags aren't necessary to post the CoH Helper output or the HJT output, it makes little sense to use it.
Basically your saying you have no idea what is going on and grasping at straws. Regardless, I've tested and none of those apps are causing CoH to think it's out of memory. Anyone else have any theories as to why CoH would say it is out of memory when it is not? |

From personal experience I will usually crash after about 4 hours of normal gameplay. If I switch characters or zone a lot it will happen sooner. If I play trials or the new TFs it will almost invariably happen within an hour. I can sometimes do one trial without crashing, two in a row has happened maybe once and three in a row is unheard of. If I happen to have to go to a hospital during one of the trials time-to-next-crash seems to be cut in half (i.e. if I've been playing for 50 minutes and have to hosp it, a crash is now imminent - usually when zoning out of the hospital).

I've been getting this a lot lately too, but it's calling the correct error in my case. I'm on a laptop from 2005 with 2gb of memory, I can't even run Titan Sentinel when I run trials now. I also have to play on minimum GFX for trials. I have a G15 keyboard I keep the performance monitor open on while I play coh, if I accidentally try to zone into Lambda in performance graphics I watch my RAM climb from 85%+ to 98/99 *memory fail error*.
One strange thing I noticed; my pc seems to use more RAM(not cpu use) when it's running hot, moving the room fan over to the laptop for trials lowers my RAM use every time .
I also already have the NCLauncher set to kill itself as soon as it opens my game(I still hate it. It's not one of those things I'm gonna get used to lol, it was done poorly and was a downgrade from what we had before but with tons of new problems(memory leak )).
10 50's To Date! Check out Titan Sentinel; it got my CoH presence synced online
Add me to the list as well. It's making the game near unplayable for me, because memory leak related crashes happen either every 45 minutes, or whenever I go to a new zone on a team.
I used to get them.....years ago, on a far weaker PC. Now, post Issue 20? Like I said, often.
I also have the NcSoft Launcher set to close when I start the game, and I have nothing else running at all.

Something that immediately stood out when I reread the report:
Do you have two, different, video cards installed? Because your computer seems to think that you still have the 7800GTX present for monitor 3, and the 250 GTS on Monitors one and two.

Thank you - this is EXACTLY what I experience, it's almost like a slow memory leak. No other game has this problem on my system. For me the crash usually comes within about an hour - but like you I notice how much you zone seems to affect it. Now I know I don't have to troubleshoot for a 1000 hours looking for a needle in a haystack.
The problem is that COH is unstable over time.

Nothing on my system was running that hasn't been running while gaming for the past year. All of this started with Issue 20 and has affected my play time across 8 computers of varying degrees of strengths and performances. Basically, I have about 2-3 hours of time before the slow memory leak finally siezes the session.
(Posting from work, so no CoHH/HJT. Having this error and a few other crashes happen steadily across 8 different rigs has me thinking it's something in Issue 20 and not any of my machines. I do think that it happens more often on my 32-bit XP-SP3 machines than my 64-bit Win7 machines.)
Yep sign me also. I searched for hours trying to find the problem since this game i never had another game crash so much ever. I mean run Oblivion with 200+ mods and i almost never crash and Bethesdas games are notoriously unstable.
I think the only solution i can think is to upgrade to 64 bit windows and increase you ram that way you will have more time untill you crash (and yes the launcher is set to close)
Though having to re-install everything and fork over 200 euros for a new Ultimate windows 7 64 bit package for only one game doesnt seem to be rational
I will keep on playing and crashing every 4 or 5 zones transfers, though i wish the developers would fix the damn thing :P
Just as a counterpoint I am running Windows XP (32-bit) with 4 GB of RAM installed, and I do not experience these crashes.
But still I fear and still I dare not laugh at the madman!
One man's "meh" is another man's "zomg". - Leatherneck
Procrastination meter coming soon.
After running the game for an hour or two it eventually crashes with this error:
The game has plenty of free ram to work with (about 2 gigs). I realize I'm on 32bit and should really be using 64bit... but the game shouldnt be crashing on me, my laptop has the same 3gigs of ram and it doesn't crash there.
Any suggestions on how to make CoH stop crashing?
