Devs more active in-game?

Is it just my imagination, or have the devs (or at least, the rednames) been more active than usual in-game lately?

In the entire two-plus years I've been playing CoH/CoV, the only time I EVER saw a NCSoftie (recognizable as such) in-game was during special events. But in the last, I dunno, two weeks, I've seen several. Heck, just last night, I saw BOTH NCSoft Freitag and NCSoft Beastyle in Pocket D, within a half hour of each other.

Granted, spotting these fine folks chillin' in the D is hardly the same thing as seeing them running through the streets performing good/bad deeds, but it's more than I'm used to.

Freitag & Beastyle clearly need more work to do because they've been doing far too much hanging around in-game lately

According to word from on high, the devs all play regularly - just not with their redname accounts.

So that PUG STF you were on the other day, with the remarkably well-behaved blaster? Might've been a dev. Or that controller with the crazy sense of humor that joined your trial league at the last minute. Or maybe even one of the sillier-clad scrappers lining up for that costume contest the other day.

Indeed, our current OCR have been much more active than in the past. I can't begin to express how happy I am at the new crew with Z and Beasty really doing a great job at keeping this community in good spirits.

The Ustream chats have been wonderful. It's a great feeling seeing the sincere excitement as they relay news to us and in general just relate to us on our level.

As far as actual Dev participation ingame, can't say I've noticed any more than normal, save the recent Praetorian events. That's to be expected though, as I'm sure they are plenty busy atm.

In short, Keep up the good work guys!!

Freitag taunted us in Union PD a couple of nights back by falling flat on his face.

While Beastyle had a nice chat about seagulls and drunken fairies...

Yeah i do love the random and out of the blue pop ins they do from time to time Certainly gets a lot of attention!

Freitag randomly showed up under the statue in Atlas last night for like 10 minutes. Shredded on air guitar with him.

Funny thing, back when I first joined the forums it was at the behest of a poor HR worker for cryptic who I was communicating with, and wouldn't stop. I was amazed that they didn't have a person to communicate with the community. Not as a wordsmith who just does releases, but as a member of the community who takes player issues to the development team, and vise versa. Idealy the person would spend time in game as a representitive of Cryptic (at the time) playing with, chatting with, and engaging the community outside the forums.

Last week, Zwillinger dropped in on one of my missions I was running solo. He scared the crap out of me when he did that, but it was a pretty awesome experience.

I'd deliberated on whether I shoulda posted about it back then. Now that we've got this thread, though ... HAVE SOME SCREENSHOTS!





I took like 20 screenshots of me just hanging out with the guy. (Yeah, I have a twitchy printscreen finger.)

I'm glad to see the CMs/GMs/Devs hanging out with us!

Beastyle showed up on my server and turned me into a newt!

I don't trust him - he's wearing his villain costume, but congratulating heroes on keeping the city safe.

Freitag popped into Cap at the Black Market this evening on Virtue. He did a little air guitar action then poofed.

To further debunk the Freedom/Virtue/Union belief, we've had community folks over on Justice as well.

Yeah, thats a silly myth. It's just that Freedom and Virtue have more forum users than some of the smaller servers, thus we hear about those visits with more frequency.

Heh, yeah Beastyle was in our BAF last night for the event on Infinity. Whether he came for the event or was merely there as a coincidence, well, we'll never know. But was still fun nonetheless, cracked a few jokes, kicked some praetorian butt, good fun. He was on his Kinetic Melee/Invuln Brute, level 50+8 (+8, I know right?), I thought that was kinda interesting. I was kinda expecting him to get half-way through the BAF then suddenly turn into the Winter Lord or something and start trollin' us with Air Guitar. But, unfortunately, no Air Guitar troll, just some good ole BAF fun.

Was nice to see a red-name in game, and having a good time with fellow players.

Heh, nice, that's pretty funny. That probably would have caught me off guard too, though I would have told them to help me with the mission :X.
