Unfortunately in the announcement discussion thread there are peeps already complaining about this. Seems as though they are worried that people that don't want sb crack for instance, will be put off with kins that use this to buff people that normally would not want it.

Just goes to show that no matter what the devs do somebody won't be happy with it.

From what I saw- nothing that I would want from astrals or emp merits... so time to break them suckers open or convert them.

You know, I love that list, but I almost wish they would take SB off. Complaints about thermal and ice shields are usually pretty lame (my poor costume!), but SB really does make some people almost non-functional on certain maps. Or even outside. :/

If SB were not in the AOE buff list, I can't really see any objections that may stop this from getting pulled or modified. Costume contest objections do not count.

Of course, I do not find it a chore to SB a team. But I also think blasting is more fun. I guess I am torn. I'd love to tell people to just suck it up, but it is also trivially easy to skip people in the buff order.

Just kind of question here: How does SB make people "almost non-functional" ? I get that you are moving quicker.. but are they unable to maneuver them self out of the way of obstacles?

Or do they experience lag because of it o.O

What? We get both varieties of Rularuu enemies (Storm Elementals and Rularuu) but not Devouring Earth? Come on.. Devouring Earth are awesome. )=

Phantoms I assume means your player model as a foe .. like the clones in that one arc in the 20 range.. could be decent. But, would they share my powers ? .. an army of Stone/Stone brutes.. that could be fun.

Oh well.. may be worth it if I can blow a couple Astrals/Emps for them. Hoping the female mask can be used on males.. it looks awesome. Well, the whole female costume looks awesome.

We so need belt auras.. although, I guess people making "oh gosh nude man" would ruin it ^^

Easy solution for the buff stuff is to get another indicator like the Magic Pack buff. People will complain about that, too, but it's been around and has precedence. I might actually be okay playing a buff set if this change goes through, since that has always been my big issue with the buffing sets. Still won't be my favorite, but this might help me to finish leveling my Sonic/Sonic Defender to 50.

I'm wondering what the recharge and endurance use values will be for all these powers with this change, though... maybe enough to keep the shields perma, or maybe half their duration, without stacking?

War, I'm guessing the phantoms would be like the ones from Phantom Army, but I could be wrong.

*sigh* It'd be nice if the devs would let us make a Lore buff into another Lore buff (since I'm sure some will want one of the new ones, rather than the current Praetorian ones), but I'm sure they'll just say they want us to customize more to face different challenges (ie, a nice way of saying no). I just hope they're balancing the pet numbers well enough, since that is a LOT of new pets.

I'm glad I only have Lore unlocked on one character so far (though I have most of the parts for my one Controller and Blaster working on the new slot stuff... they're both close to unlocking Lore), and that I haven't started on anyone else... Polar Lights will be great for my Peacebringer, and some of the other choices will be best for my other characters.

Probably will stick with Seers for Grey Pilgrim... though maybe if we can customize them I can go for Polar Lights eventually and make them look like fire. That's... a lot of work, though.

zwillinger mentioned later in the thread that the end and rech values of the buffs will not change

he did not mention anything about the stacking from what i saw though

Well... I don't think they can stack now, or at least most of them can't, so I'm guessing they'll change them to that. I can't believe they aren't going to change the end costs, though... I would have assumed they would be on par with the Mastermind Training powers, to be honest.

I'll believe what I see in the patch notes, though. According to QA, rain powers triggering Interface as much as they were was WAI.

Keyes Reactor does look hard... seems a little too fiddly as well... they basically have sequestration style annoyance powers in that last phase, but about... four at once? I'm sure I'll get used to it, as I have everything else, but it seems a little less fun than the others.

We'll see though: having more variety in trials will be nice.

SB is imho one of the best buffs in the game. It is increased recharge, increased endurance, and some speed (it will not put you at travel cap though unless it's slotted for run).

People who complain about SB have either:

A. a very low functioning computer

OR

B. very poor movement skills

OR

C. are the type of people who would complain about getting free money

If A. sorry, I feel for you (I've been there), but you can still make it work!
If B. you cannot learn to get better if you don't try and practice.
If C. seriously people, you don't ALWAYS need to find something to complain about, just be happy.

A simple fix would be to grant either a "Do not accept any buffs" button (similar to do not accept items) OR allow buffs to be deletable (such as the powers from safeguards and mayhems are deletable). People have roles in a team, I am annoyed when a kin or any other character does not fulfill their role. Anyone who is going to get seriously outraged at someone else correctly playing their character is probably better off soloing.

I have seen both. Low-end PCs often do not handle SB well. And there are some who just cannot move well with it on them, or line up their cones, or other movement-based problems. It surprises me, but playing a kin, I have heard more than a couple people tell me these things.

I don't disagree about SB at all. It is one of the better buffs in the game. But, if it is a choice between delaying the buff improvements versus removing SB from the list, I say full steam ahead and keep SB as single-target. The nerdrage is strong already and this is day 1 of the announcement.

Buffs and debuffs in the game are functionally the same thing (debuffs are negative buffs), so any kind of "cancel buff" option has problems because it would also allow us to cancel debuffs. This is why we do not have this request implemented yet - the arguments against run speed and SB go back to day 1 of the game. It would be great if we had options, but they certainly aren't simple and may not be possible. For example, if we were able to check "ignore all buffs," it's possible this would also prevent debuffs from affecting us.

I definitely hope they come up with something.

they cant stack from the same caster, but if you have seperate casters they cant stack currently, so if you had 2 FF on the team, everyone could get 2x shields

if i had to guess they would stay stackable like they are on live (not from same caster type of thing) (disclaimer, this statement is just a guess)

Give it and ID a 4 minute uptime and I'm fine with them keeping the ST status. Kins have to spend way too much time reapplying buffs.

Nerdrage is ALWAYS strong on day 1. I think after it goes live it will die down.

What if they flagged it only to not receive buffs from teammates? Then the debuff thing would only be an issue when people are confused (which to me is really a nonissue). Or maybe they could somehow put in a speed cap that people could set (like default is max or you could set it so you'd never go over say 50mps?).

Hopefully they would do this instead of just pull SB out to answer complaints. I really hope it goes in as listed in the patch notes - but the cynic in me says opposition will be strong enough that something will need to be done with SB.

I don't know how possible those are. I would guess the speed cap thing is the most likely to work - the same way that PVP travel suppression is a power applied to you, maybe you could have an option that applies a run speed cap power to your person if you want to effectively have SB never take effect. I didn't mean to Poo Poo your previous suggestions as much as throw out the reason why we don't already have something like "ignore buffs" or a right-click "remove buff." Since run speed is the main concern with SB, it would be great if they could allow you to set a run speed cap via an option. No one seems to ever object to the extra recovery or recharge.

The only thing I can see that stacks in that list is the mez protection from ID. Not the damage resist, but the mez. ID seems to be an odd choice given that other -mez were left off, but I guess they are thinking of it mainly for damage resist?

Masque you don't want PvP io's and other io's o.O ?

RE the AoE buffs I can see that some people don't want them in caves etc a Prompt would be great. The aoe cold and thermal buffs is going to make the game un playable for a friend of mine :/ He crashes (repeatedly) when they are applied to him. So there may be some valid complaints on this though as 90% of my toons are support toons i love it.

Well, not sure what to make of it. Initial feeling is my faith in the devs dropped further. Since I20, I find it harder and harder to log in with the direction this game is heading. Heck, I was free last night but decided to watch idol instead with the family.

Oh well, I am just grumpy and will see what the rest of release is like. Although I could see myself hanging up the cape when I ding 7 years soon.

What's turning you off about the game, Penny? The increased focus on Raiding over regular content?

The Keyes Trial moves us closer and closer to For Reals Raiding, and I don't think I would mind as much if I wasn't compelled to run Trials over and over again to unlock and slot the Incarnate Powers (which I do enjoy). As it is only my DP Blaster has all four powers unlocked, and I'm not even close to getting T3s across the board. If Threads and Incarnate Salvage came through normal play (and getting to pay ONE BILLION inf doesn't count) I'd be a lot happier with the system.

I'm torn on the new costume/aura stuff. On the one hand, I love new costume/aura stuff, but on the other hand I'd actually rather pay $10 for it than have to waste in-game resources that should be going toward Incarnate crafting.

They will stack from the same caster if you apply, enter mish, and reapply... but that off course only covers the first encounter or two.

Having just taken a month off of CoH (iTrial burnout, my fault), the changes in the last patch and 20.5 are actually drawing me back in. Now if they'll only let me respec out of these lame Praetorian Lore pets I rushed into for level shift purposes.

Sounds like you'll have to grind up for the new pets from this line: Summoning these new pets requires crafting new Incarnate abilities.
