Finding my playtime more limited these days, I actually agree with this. The booster packs are nice, but CoH's emphasis on aesthetics gives it the perfect format for an á la carte pay-for perk system. As long as the rewards are bind-on-account and not performance enhancing, we stay away from the RMT issue that plagues this sort of system in other games.

Right, it was really just a passive-aggressive jab at the devs. They've done so much right in the last 12 months that I have to take my potshots where I can.

I wonder if you have the original pets and decide to craft these new ones, will they still appear as two separate powers or does one go away. The reason I ask is that it may be possible to swap out pets while the one power recharges.

That's a good part of it. I quit my previous MMO over a similar change. Another is RL has changed over the years. The game was fun because it had some challenge, now it is just easy mode. Within in no time, the new content will be picked apart and completed as fast as possible so you can cram your merit runs in for the night.

Again, I will watch and see the changes first so to be informed and not make some rash judgement. Besides, I think Voo will hunt me down if I leave before he gets his MLRSF badge.

I'm sure you can swap out pets, but I doubt you'll be able to have more than one type out at once.

Yeah I'm thinking if you have already cast two pets and they die you can just swap out for another Lore power and cast two new pets while the first one recharges.

i know, but thats more of an exception due to how zoning and such works

technically they are not supposed to stack from same caster but if you zone it will stack cause the game loses track of who applied the buff when you enter a new zone

I always assumed that was a bug they never fixed.

I think the five-minute cooldown on swapping plus the need to be out of combat takes care of this corner case. What is the recharge on Lore pets? If it is longer than 5 minutes I guess you could cheat a little.

I thought the cool down period for switching was in missions? I'm thinking of street sweeping in the RWZ. I think the recharge for the pets is over 5 minutes, or at least it seems that way.

Pets have a 15 minute timer. You cannot slot a new one while the other is recharging. Once the first is recharged, you could swap to the 2nd. Sorry, there will be no "gaming the system" here.

PS- LOVE the idea of using my empyrean merits to buy threads for other characters on my account. I have some characters that I love, but I do not love taking them on trials, this will be their answer!

I know, but I thought worth mentioning just to touch on the loophole, particularly if it was new info for anyone.

Hey all, I have some details about some of the powers changes for I20 Incarnates Ascend which were "below the fold" of the main announcement:

Along with Incarnates Ascend we are introducing a means for players to flag themselves as whether or not they want to be movement-affected by some of the click buffs which can be cast by others on them (like Speed Boost). The rest of the power will take effect, but the movement-affecting (run, jump, flight) part will be ignored if you so desire. This is going to affect Speed Boost, Increase Density, Inertial Reduction, Enforced Morale, and Accelerate Metabolism (based on my current list).

The same means will allow players to set a preference for Mystic Fortune to Always Ask, Always Accept or Always Deny.

The endurance cost for Mastermind upgrade powers is also being decreased to fit more in line with these changes.

Lastly, there is a subtlety to the Increase Density conversion to an AOE buff which the summary didn’t quite capture. The damage resistance component of the power is being made AOE-affecting, but the status effect protection component is going to still be single-target. The single target click powers which give status effect protection such as Clear Mind were not going to be made AOE wide (for balance purposes), but Increase Density having both facets makes it unique in this case. We are trying to split that difference with our approach.

As always, thank you for your feedback and concerns.

Speaking for myself, yes, due to a lack of good hand-eye coordination, I do indeed crash into walls. My hubby's main is a Mind/Kin and he takes great pleasure in Speed Boosting me me when we play together. I can hear his laugh at my expense all the way into my computer cave

I hadn't thought along those lines yet. That just might make me reroll my bot/ff MM.

Not just that. You go from having your teammates ignoring pets to shields city!

Was thinking of maybe making a kin some time in the future because of this. Takes away from the whole annoyance of buffing issue.

This change is rather exciting for me. There is a slew of buff sets I refused to play because I'd get annoyed by the individual buffing. From my point of view, it's like they added a new AT to the game with a whole bunch of power choices.

While I love my sonic, this is exactly why I've always preferred powers like AM, world of pain, and mind link, you just throw it and go.
Being a "good" kin won't be nearly as hard anymore, either.
This changes everything >.O
