Well, if all goes well today, we'll have the two sets of servers available to one another. I've been jonesing to visit Union for a while now and see how you people work the hero scene.

Trying to decide if I want to transfer a 50 over to dive right into the mess with you all, or to grow a toon from scratch and check out your lowbie scene. Which do you think is more feasible? How's your young toon crowd vs the capped veterans?

I'm really looking forward to meeting a lot of you. If any of you want to visit Freedom, look me up an' I'll give you the penny tour!

Usually rp will treat you like an equal unless the person is a big-shot like an SG leader ... which could result in you being treated like a youngster.

Union & Virtue accessible to two Hemispheres' worth of RPers?! It's gonna be a blast!!!

I'd transfer a 50 to one of the servers. The low levels...while there are people, it never seems to be alot. Also be sure to check out the channels on whatever server you transfer to. On infinity we have multiple channels that can fill a league up quick quickly.

It's better to hook up with the 50's and make new friends fast then hook up with them when they decide to play a lowbie.

I would foresee that, and hoping for, with the new list you would not be the only one in beginning anew on Union so you may find there will be a considerable number of new low levels - again of which I can only hope. It might go in tandem with your times since I assume you play along US times whereby they may be on Union too now, weird to say that!

I play top-end now and I rarely have trouble organising something along those lines, but I'd advise you to go for the low level choice and see how it feels. Joining the new channels, you can get an estimate of the level of activity your looking for!

Sals is one of the most well known badgers on union and he created a channel when there was a lot of problems going on [at the time] with Union Badgehunters, basically a lot of people went from the UB to sals and its one of the main resources union uses now to organise anything badge related.

Not sure what your chat channels are like but union chat is one of my favourite channels ever simply because . . . . . . well i like to chat a lot

Cant think of any others straight away but those 3 [plus the roleplayers] are the main channels that union uses

I am SOOOO looking forward to making a Union character! I'll probably just re-roll one of my Virtue toons and start anew. Just think of the mistakes I WON'T make this time! I can room for all NEW mistakes!!!

Also, it's always feasible to roll a new toon... But if you just wanna get right in there, higher lvls and joining events and such are probably the way to go.

How is this server in terms of incarnate trials? Where do you all meet up and gather? And how is TF activity here?

Lastly, any RP SG's here? I'd like to get to know those as well.

Damz did explain the reason about the name of Sals. Yes it was a back up channel while we had some troubles on UBH So when it got too much of trouble we simply moved to that channel.
Also Sals badgehunters is by the default a Union channel, unless said otherwise. (A few badgehunts have been made on Defiant this way)

Incarnate trials are usually made around DJ Zero. If you use D to rp, then I would strongly suggest that you turn broadcast off.
Reason for this I think is its so easy to get to D, rather then RWZ or any other zone. Since most of us I think have the Pocket D teleport aswell
A trial simply begins with one player inviting others near him and if in need of more players he or she uses the union channels.

@Denji, yes there are a few. Sadly I cannot remember all of them, but mention the word in Union roleplayers and I think you will get quite the list.

A group of Canadians/Americans did a pre-emptive visit last night around 9ish Eastern time. We found the server super welcoming and got a nice sewer team which took us to level 8 in the time we spent there.

Welcome Turg, I have an account here too. Union is nice but don't bring Freedom assumptions here. They have different rules here. Come online for the Surge today if you can today. Union gets it First!

Welcome to Union all new overseas players. About Turgenev's question about lowbie/high level differences. I cant say I really noticed any difference and found that most lowbie's are just new alts for old players, so not really that much of difference if he/she is on a level 10 or a 50.

Probably the EU scene in general have fewer new players passing thru and the majority is vet players that still enjoy CoX.

As for lowbie-teaming I've found lately that I solo quite much more, not by choice alone, on my pre 20's. For instance it's been some time since I saw or joined a sewer or Hollows team. I am quite fond of random PUG's but seen a decline in those somewhat. For regular arc or radio missions I mean. The tip system have given PUG's a bit of a boost.

Either way I think you will feel at home with both a lowbie and a 50 on Union.

As a fellow NA that came over to Union, I have some advice for you.

1. Transfer a toon over. Why?

Union has great people and great SGs. If you start in Praetoria you will get an unrealistic view of Union. I started in Praetorian and couldn't wait to graduate. Lots and lots of soloists. I spent dedicated weekends(playing from US 6am till midnight all weekend) playing CoH and have made slow progress because I had to do everything myself. I canceled my account twice and resubed because of this frustration.....but I finally got my 7 characters out of Praetoria after 5 months(December 2010 - April 2011). Also, Praetoria has what I call the "crazies" or the flakes. I will never go through Praetoria on Union again if I can help it. I saw crazy stuff go down during my time there.

Another comment, when I created my EU account I told myself I would things different than my NA account(single SGs). All of my characters on Union are in an SG and while I'm not totally happy with CoH Large SG implementations I'm happy I have people to play with when I come on. I did the Surge last night and it was great that the SG added me as soon as I came on. This was my only positive about the Surge last night...that I got to play with my SG.

I strongly encourage you to search/research a Union SG and transfer a character there because this is the best way to enjoy this server.

Also, the other reason I created my EU account was to experience large events with less lag. On Freedom, large events are a joke...on Union there is lag but not like on Freedom. When I get my characters to 50, I look forward to doing these things but I have a long way to go because my characters are in their 20s now. If I could do it all over again or now with the GSM(global server merge), I would recommend leveling a charcter on Freedom and then transfering because Freedom is the fastest leveling server in the CoH Universe. This will help you avoid 95% of the problems and let you have the best experience on Union.

2. Setup tabs because they don't use the broadcast channel.

What is 6PM BMT in converted time? I am -6 hrs to GMT. So if, you are 6PM BMT that makes it 12PM CST. Is that correct?

Greetings Union server. I've decded to "cross the pond" too.
I play on Virtue and wanted to see what the EU servers were like(plus I can feed my altitis with a new server ).
I believe that the time diffrence is like 6-7 hours difference to that here in Alberta, Canada. Am I close?
I decided to start a new toon rather than transfer one because I have found it a better way to get a feel for a new toon. His name is Professor Tincan (a electric/energy blaster)and probably the beginning of my soon to be full Union roster .
