Friend accidentally bid 1.8 bil on 4 IOs. Was it yours?

A friend of mine accidentally bid 1.8 billion on 4 Invention Recharge IOs on Saturday, May 7. If it was your auction he paid the 450 million each for, we'd appreciate the safe return of the money. Yes, the lost winning transaction fee is understood and a reward would be given in return (which can be discussed what you want).

Thank you if you see this and contact me in a PM or in game at @Rejolt.

Keep in mind that those bids could have been filled from multiple sellers. Even if someone does come forward, there's a good chance that your friend won't recover his entire losses.

Also... wow.

That really sucks. I've been there before, which is why I no longer keep more than a billion on any character that is actively using the market.

Maybe I am overly pessimistic... but I don't see that happening. One, because of greed, and two due to the differential between forum users and game players (strictly numbers).

Chalk this one up to experience and move on, your friend's never getting that money back.

Don't sell them, so know it wasn't me. But in the past (Back when 2 billion was a lot to most people) I know when people would sometime experience a significant loss some forum posters who were well off would step up and throw in a small chunk of change to help recover the loss.

Hit me with a PM in game.

Particularly since the person selling the IO's may just be some random player, rather than a 'marketeer' or 'hardcore' player.

I was going to post on the channels, but I didn't want to out my friend's name in doing so. Thank you everyone for the private tells and offers to give funds but this was only a shot in the dark for someone who got the "What the heck...?!" overbid to speak up. There's no need to donate funds (this hurt, but is not devastating).

Thanks again!

1.8 bil? Ouch. Even if you know how to replace it, that's still a downer.

So I'm in his corner!
If you play on Freedom, I saw that bid in the market history. I remember a WTF? crossing my mind because if wasn't just extra zeros.

(There's just one market. Freedom, Union, Villain, Hero, all the same.)

I never throw down a long string of zeros, to AVOID the extra-zero problem . But when your brain sees a list of buys for 75 thousand and goes "Right. 75 million. " not much you can do. You can avoid the typos, but thinkos are another thing entirely.

You know...I knew that all the markets are connected, but for some reason I just...forgot it.

Just out of curiosity, what was supposed to be the correct bid?

I pulled the trigger. That's right, I did it, in Warburg, with the pistol. - Mista Chains

Everyone know the Tank Archetype get the most drops of all the types. This is because of their "Death Dealing" powers. I call it the front line bonus...but you'll never read this in the wiki - "Rx10"

I suspect it was 450,000. That's about the buy it now price for a level 50 common recharge IO.

Lies. There are three markets.

Live, Test, and Beta. :P

The players who benefited from your friend's blunder have no obligation to reimburse your friend. Besides only a small fraction of the players actually read this section of the forums. Also there is no way at all to determine which server the sellers are from so your chances of finding them are almost impossible. Should teach your friend to be more careful about what they bid.

The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.

But did he get those IOs rite nao?

Your friend won't get the money back. Even if it was a clear accident, the person who got 1.8 billion is entitled to it through and through.

Also, if your friend wanted to be safe with that kind of amount of money, why didn't he just play it safe and buy the Recharge IO Recipes from the University, and craft them personally? It's not like he'd be out of pocket if he did it at the time, he had 1.8 BILLION.

EDIT: I begin to doubt whether this even happened or not, and someone is trying to scam some money. How the hell could something 'accidentally' buy some IOs of that standard for such a number?

No one disputes that the person is entitled to keep it. However, we OFTEN have threads with incidents like this and they are FREQUENTLY started by people looking to return the money they received due to someone else mistyping.

Re the second sentence: it happens all the time. It can be inattentiveness or it can be lag from the market server which is obviously something the player can do nothing about.
Re the first sentence: your attitude stinks.
