If anyone has a clue WTF is going on there, I'm all ears.

So you miss like 36 times in a row on a power with a 95% chance to hit.

You have a 1:68,719,476,736,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,0 00,000,000,000 of this hapening out of a random 36 rolls so I have no idea why you don't see something like that all the time.

Seriously though, WTF?

I noticed this too with Rain of Fire. I think the game might be simply lumping all the misses and hits together given the number of hit-rolls going on with a rain power. I'm not sure exactly how to-hit rolls work with rain powers but I'm guessing that it calculates each tick individually for each enemy. Assuming you're hitting 16 targets continuously over the 15 second lifespan of the power (and assuming that Ice Storm is like Rain of Fire) then multiplied by 76 ticks you're getting around 1,200 individual hit rolls, about 81 each second. If I'm right, then the likely reason you're seeing that many miss messages in a row is that the game either can't handle outputting that many messages to the client or just sends a portion of the hit rolls to keep the Combat tab from being filled with nothing but to-hit rolls.

My guess here is that you're attacking a group of enemies. The location AoEs like Rain of Fire, Frozen Rain, Ice Storm, Sleet, etc, seem to roll if they're going to hit or not in a round, and then roll if they're going to hit each guy. And since the Rains make numerous attacks a tick, you get a wall of misses.

Or something like that. It's odd. Rains have odd mechanics.

Seriously. I have absolutely ZERO clue what mathematicians call numbers that high. Though those odds are right up there with "Stray neutrino struck trace lead molecule in your brain, causing an atomic explosion"

so its pretty save to assume streak breaker doesn't work on rain powers?

Those're the kind of odds that give you super powers!

My pet peeve is people who refuse to acknowledge it when I tell them my character has unlimited power. If I rp attack them they are of course disintegrated beyond the ability of any hospital or magic to restore. Yet despite this they refuse to delete their characters and still keep playing them as if nothing happened. ~Mandu, 07-16-2010

Well, it's a fairly simple pattern. It goes:

Hundred (first set)
Thousand (three zeroes)
Million (six zeroes)
Billion (nine zeroes)
Trillion (twelve zeroes)
Quadrillion (15 zeroes)
Quintillion (18 zeroes)
Sextillion (21 zeroes)
Septillion (24 zeroes)
Octillion (27 zeroes)
Nonillion (30 zeroes)
Decillion (33 zeroes)
Undecillion (36 zeroes)
Duodecillion (39 zeroes)
Tredecillion (42 zeroes)
Quatturodecillion (45 zeroes) <--Our number falls here
Quindecillion (48 zeroes)
Sexdecillion (51 zeroes)
Septendecillion (54 zeroes
Octodecillion (57 zeroes)
Novemdecillion (60 zeroes)

And so on. After million, everything is done with prefixes, and it's basically just like counting. The "n zeroes" can also more easily be expressed as 10^n, such as Undecillion being 10^36.

Except for the legendary Googolplex.

Hmmmm. I'm hoping this is just random unluck or a bug, not an undocumented change so rain of powers work with interfaces slightly saber, because that'll suck for Fire and Ice corruptors.

Been there. They used to throw a really great dance party during the Search Engine Strategies conference every year.

What's that? Googolplex, not Googleplex? Oh.

Never mind...

Speaking as a math nerd, Googol and Googolplex are lame. They don't end in a number of zeroes that is divisible by three, and therefore fail to properly name a set of numbers. By which I mean, instead of naming the thousandths place (1000-999,000), it instead is the name of 10,000 (except with a lot more zeroes).

Googol (and -plex) have no real mathematical significance, other than making big numbers for "regular people" easier to relate to or imagine.

Stupid predictive text. Saner was what I meant. Apple seem to think saber is a better word.

Very well, very well. I submit fibb(BB(A(G, G))), where fibb(n) produces the nth number in the Fibbonacci sequence. p.o
