Suggestions That Made It?

The unification of the Ferry Lines and Black Helicopter lines redside with additional BHs for all the zones and extra ones for the really big zones.

You're welcome.

Also, I made a push when Temp Recipe drops were introduced to make a Summon Teammates Temp Recipe drop (like the power you get from Safeguard/Mayhem missions). It turns out, at the same times, the Dev team was late announcing a Vet reward and, within a week of my suggestion, the belated Vet Reward was announced: Assemble the Team.

I know it was beta and it was all about feeback and suggestions, but I'm still pleased with the Dual Pistols discussion where we practically told the devs we wanted swap ammo to be toggles instead of a cycling clicky.

Some back and forth discussion, and it was ready in a few days. Wonderful.

* This was before police scanners and tips were added to the game. At the time, the only repeatable missions were in the PvP zones, in the Shadow Shard, and in papers (villains only).
Wait, how does that work? "Longbow" didn't exist prior to City of Villains. The red-and-white tights trainers and vendors were and are Freedom Corps members. Longbow only came into being with Issue 6 City of Villains, which is when Newspaper missions came into the game, as well. True, Mayhem missions took an extra Issue, but even before that, Bank Missions took their place. Borea was four Issues after that in I10 and the Rikti War Zone.

Also, didn't the Shadow Shard have repeating-mission contacts since I2? I thought that's all the single-player contacts in the Shard ever did. General Hammond is constantly losing Patrols, Dr. Boyd is obsessed with Obelisks and Dr. iForgotHerName is obsessed with Kora Fruit. There was that Russian Lt. Something guy who gave out three missions on a loop, all Nemesis, I think.

I apologise if that makes me sound like a jerk. This just made me curious to ask about.

Every time I remember this, I thank my lucky star that they chose to unsuck Martial Arts. I appreciate it.

Log out to Character Selection screen instead of all the way to Server Selection. I was asking for that YEARS before it was implemented - and I wasn't the first.

For those that remember back in the day 2004-2005'ish, remember when you wanted to transfer influence from one toon to another toon? You had to get someone to act as a "bank" then transfer your influence over to them at a pace of 99,999 or 999,999 as I think that is all it would allow you to transfer at one time. I would always submit suggestions on this and ask the dev's to find a better way for transferring influence. One suggestion was to have an ATM to dump your influence so other your other toons could access it. Well, now, needless to say, the global email transfer has solved this in a big way. I cannot figure out though why it took them so long to eventually implement this?

I made a suggestion about three years ago for a costume expansion pack (this was shortly after the first booster pack IIRC). Here:

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...hlight=costume

As part of it, I also suggested this:

Quote:
As an added bonus, there could be a small animation that plays for changing costume, selectable from either a flash of light or a black smudge (to suit dark or light characters). This could be turned off in the options screen though in case it got annoying.
Which in effect is a costume change emote which later made their way into the game. No idea if I was responsible but hey, it's another suggestion that made it. Shame that the main idea of adding more costume slots hasn't seen the light of day yet...

Gosh it's hard to remeber all the soapboxes I've stood on.

Repulsion Bomb not needing an ally for target.... answered. And they gave it some damage.

*Shadowfall and Stealth not slowing you.

Decent damage for Defenders solo. I still like cors for scourge though my defendes are less painful. Recent Defenders have all been Sonic blast... for a reason. Which by the way... Sonic blast! thanks Dev's.

Fix the sleep hole in Dispersion bubble... kinda fixed that but not in the way I expected. they lowered the defense numbers in it but added psi... didn't ask for that. They could have at least kept defender Manuvers high enough to reach the old values but IO set bonuses will help if I ever bother to level a bubbler again that doesn't have pets... or sonic blast.

Dark armor armors not being exclusive. (didn't suggest that but agreeed with the suggestion.. didn't even know it was so when I read about it. Was stunned it was even set up so awkwardly )

Knockback protection for elec armor and willpower. Was tired of seeing folks forced to take leaping all the time for the sets that already didn't have it. Moot point now with knockback protect IO's. Still it seemed unjust for them to come out without them.

*Mobile Dark Servant. By the time I had my first Dark Miasma using toon high enough this was fixed so I neverhad to personaly suffer it.

Change power colours and weapon looks....

More letters for names... "Hello I am RogueDemonhuntR!" and I guess by happenstance our Globals.

Pistols in any way shape or form as a powerset. Oddly enough the rogue Demonhunter alt I envisioned for this is no longer a priority mentaly but it was still nice to get them. I made a magic wielding cowboy. Hexslinger. Yeehaw... Who also enjoys the improved over the years dark miasma. *see above.

Oh Trenchcoats and more specificly... OPEN coats! Yes long ago there was but one suit then slowly coats but save for the vesty, busboy type one with rolled up or no sleeves there were no OPEN coats... as if Paragon was always chilly or there was some dress code where opening a jacket was forbidden. ;p thankfully this isn't the case... hovever... Suggestions for a CLOSED buttoned up ala Gumshoe detective style Trenchcoat have yet to be answered.

Temp powers we can buy at gun/supply shop or from the 4 Origin starter contacts. MAGI, DATA, and the other various others from their vaults. They didn't do this but Craftable Temps are a fine Version of the same idea.

Still waiting for....

Reduce PFF base def numbers to 15% ish and let us SHOOT thriugh it. Even with reduced acc like in beta.

Match the Mezzes in the two PB attacsk that have Mez component. Stun and Stun or Hold and Hold. Not the useless stun and hold combo they are now.

Vehicle/Flying or Leaping, racing, tporting mount/costume overlay like a moterbike, mecha or winged horse, jet pack (kinda have them but not with player's own fast flight) Costume overwrite/cover for character's when activating travel powers... at least while outside. I could see a large steam powered horse being obtrusive in a office or cave map. heheh so yah... indoors not a chance.

That's all I can really think...

Wait! I kinda want Beta Ice Melee back for Brutes... and I guess scrappers. The version did loose Ice patch but had the very pretty to behold (if not function) Ice Sword Circle. Yes.. .some times we want powersets that may be subpar but look LOVELY. See Dual Pistols.. (giggle)

Stop making every new mob nearly ignore to-hit debuff.
That's not bloody fair. ;p I have never had to rely so much on the heal vs the darkest night debuff on my most recent Miasmaist as I did leveling that toon through Preatoria.

OK that last was just a rant.

That's really all. ... I think.

My suggestion for the power-ordering of Brute Super Reflexes. Well, it was made in the Brute forums and not here IIRC, but my power ordering made it into game.

What others can you think of (not necessarily your own)?

The automated base cost refactoring. Originally base builders were going to have to completely tear their bases apart and rebuild from scratch to take advantage of the base cost refactoring.

*Cue base builders threatening to carpet-nuke Korea, Texas and California*

Fairly sure that Walk had been suggested at some time in the past.

My suggestions, other's shared too, that made it into the game...

Weapon Selection box at the tailor. This was amusing since the responses were all, "impossible!", but it showed up in the next update. They were probably already working on it.

Recharge and Damage changes to Snap Shot and Aimed Arrow.

Averaging Defense powers over several levels instead of just one.

Still working on "Weird Science" Mastermind who creates monster henchmen out of biochemical goop.

I remember getting "terrible idea" responses to that idea too.

Now if they'll just let us enhance the Defense Debuff of CaK, so I can slot it with a Defense Debuff IO from on of the sets!

Do you remember when the way in which you put the amount in was a series of number spinners instead of a free form edit box? I remember supporting them changing that to an edit box...it seemed like it took forever for them to make that, seemingly obvious and needed, change.

That sort of happened by happenstance, not the result of a direct suggestion. The damage numbers for Cobra and CAK both were fiddled with up and down during beta when that set was being adjusted. I actually suggested to Castle that the three powers end up with 9,10, and 11 second recharge so they would all be different, but in the shuffle Cobra ended up at 10 seconds because 9 generated funny numbers I guess. It was then that I realized that was potentially better because it would now mean Cobra and Crane would essentially be interchangable based on which secondary effect players wanted. Normally I don't like powers that similar, but in this case the secondary effect option included knockback, which I know many people do not like. Castle seemed to agree that was a good idea, and that damage number stuck. CAK did get increased from 8 to 11 though, with commensurate damage increase.

On the subject of the thread, let's just say I've made a few suggestions that got into the game, but I'm not sure its a good idea to list them all in one place. One big set of player-driven suggestions not mentioned so far not from me were the set overhauls of both Claws and Ice Armor. Claws was overhauled when a player (Stupid_Fanboy) realized and then pressed the issue that Claws did not function as the devs (Geko, specifically) described it to. It literally didn't include the features Geko thought were put into it. Ice Armor was modified in several ways to improve it: its -DMG for example. That was a forum-driven process, but its most associated with Circeus.

I no longer remember who suggested what when anymore, but a lot of the features of the invention system are also very player feedback-driven or directly suggested. The ability to purchase common recipes is I think a player suggestion from beta. I suggested that invention salvage get its own set of drop messages ("Invention Salvage" rather than just "Salvage" to distinguish between the two kinds, and I specifically suggested color coding the messages). Personal vault storage is I believe a player suggestion.

Many things that are suggested eventually come to pass, but there's no clear cause and effect between the two. But even when you discount all "coincidental" suggestions, this game has an awful lot of features that are directly traceable to a player suggestion. Probably more than any other commercially supported MMO. Many of them few people know are player suggestions. For example: /ghide. Or: "Last Chance To Hit" in the combat monitor. Lots of little things like that.

Yes, I do remember that. I would say that was one of the most horrid things about that. No one these days of instant messaging and modern day technology really has time to stand around and transfer influence like that anymore. Being that it was such a large issue within the game, it seemed bizarre that it took them so long to ever fix that into what it is today through our global email transfers. Sort of like saying it is hard to teach an old dog new tricks. So, someone had to teach the old dev's some new tricks,..heh.

A poster who shall remain nameless said any change to MA I was involved with would be, to paraphrase, unenjoyable and disasterous for the set. While that played no part in my recommendations for the set when it was adjusted I'd probably be rubbing it in now if the poster stuck around long enough to see it, because frankly they were kinda annoying.

I suggested once that they should imporve the market UI so you could click on a recipe and it show the salvage..... I love that addition.... Now if they would only allow us to have a Drop down Sort on our enhancement tables.... :-p
