Will we ever move back out of GrecoRoman myth?

A medieval zone is the most important one to add though, because we need long dresses and wacky pointy hats and curtsey emotes.

As for you question.
I'd like to see touches of Nordic, maybe Odin and Ragnarok.
Hints of King Arthur and his whole legend.
Legendary monsters (non combat badges i.e. Sally)
Spot Bigfoot wondering around the maze in Perez 3 times for a badge.
Maybe have the chupacabra running amok in Nerva...
What? No FSM?

oh, and almost forgot, a really good idea that i beleive fredvard mentioned was to expand the culture of the kheldians. it would be a mythos they would have free reign with and wouldn't have to worry about offending anyone. and yes, khelds are kind of a nick of h.p. lovecraft's "shadow out of time" as disembodied space travelers that take their host bodies forms but recall elements of past hosts, though they tend to be better about consent
Isn't that kinda like the COuncil and 5th being Italian Fascists instead of Nazis (which were fascists as well) yet everyone calls them Nazis?

The 5th Column are Nazis, the Council are Italian Fascists with an alliance with alien fascists.

You're right! But the point still stands, Council isn't Nazi's!

Not really. It could of easily hinted at a zone where the NPCs have longer hemlines. Which they already do.

I took the hint to be a medevil zone, but nothing in it made me think players would get those longer dresses.

At the time I heard about Incarnates, I had only one demi-god on my character roster and one in the formative stages. So I picked up this book by Marvel comics, a one-shot issue: Thor & Hercules: Encyclopaedia Mythologica (2009).

The book details traits and histories of well over a dozen pantheons and hundreds of gods and god-like beings, of both worldly and otherworldly origins. And while it's Marvel's spin on these entities (so you get a mash-up of mythological "facts", and fantastic alternate histories of pantheon team-ups and such), that makes it all the more worth the while, because you're getting that "imagination-overdrive" style of world-building that comics are all about. I've been entertained by mythology since I was a kid, but this was a great way to be introduced to Aboriginal, Chinese, and (especially) Celtic gods for the first time. If you're looking for inspiration for character concepts, I can't recommend it enough (it's just a few bucks).

City of Heroes will probably always emphasize Greco-Roman myth, which is reasonable: the Well of the Furies feeds the Fountain of Zeus. Cole and Richter discovered this relic, and made possible the super-powered world that City of Heroes is based in. This is much the same way Asgard takes center-stage among Marvel's various historical pantheons (Thor and his ilk just seem to be at the center of things more often in that universe).

But it's a big multiverse, and I think it would be great if City of Heroes explored other mythologies, or gave its less-explored mythologies more attention. Croatoa, the Coralax, the Banished Pantheon and Dark Astoria are just a few that come to mind, all brimming with story-telling potential.

At the same time, we have no excuse for waiting idly. From what I've read, Paragon Studios plans its content pipeline months, even years in advance. You may have to wait for a very long time to see your favorite mythology represented in City of Heroes. If you have an idea for how some obscure mythology could be incorporated into the game and its lore, we may all be better off if you bring it to life with the Mission Architect. A well-composed arc that places as much emphasis on story as it does mechanics (and rewards) is always going to be "official enough" in my book.

As long as someone's wearing long dresses, it'll be good - the devs got away with tunics in Cimerora, but there's no way they could not have long dresses for a medieval zone

The break from this is in Croatoa, which, while it feels like a non-sequitur (and honestly, it kind of is) it is a breath of fresh air from other mythological references in the game that are all GrecoRoman centered.
Now seems like it would be an especially good time to look into other mythologies, especially the Nordic myths (I mean, come on, Valhalla anyone? And you think Odin will care about your alignment as long as you even say you'll be willing to help fight in Ragnarok?) with the whole Incarnate business going about.

So this thread's kind of about two things: what other mythologies would you like to see City of delve into, and do you think the devs would seriously do it?
(Also, family friendliness is clearly not an issue given that the main mythology emphasized is wonderfully loaded with... uhh... Jerks to say the least)
Eh. Best thing about GrecoRoman centered story lines?

The wrestling.

How about NO myths and maybe something more super/comic book like! We have touched on myths already. Let's see some epic stuff that is kinda like what we read in comics. I am thinking bring out the classic rogues gallery - like in Fantastic Four, Spider-Man and Batman (to name a few). They had some periods of amazing foes and story lines. This game is lacking a cool rogues gallery.

Enough of the Nazis and the related factions. Add some more actual super hero genre stuff and not military types etc.

More like Lawful Amoral and Chaotic Hungry.

New time travel zone I hope!
8 issues ago, they /did/ promise that the Midnighter's Club would be a hub zone to a bunch of new zones... so far, still just Cimerora. Still looking forward to seeing that used more than just a buffer-gets-in-the-way zone.

Well, his first master's degree was in ancient history.

Given how I shudder each time I zone into Croatoa to see Gaelic butchered before my eyes, I'm not sure I'd really want to see the Devs' take on other branches of mythology.

That said, I reckon Incarnate content should have some god bashing involved so I can't see them stopping anytime soon. But I'd still rather fight Rularuu than another mythical figure.

Well, wouldn't they not be Nazi's now, since they basically sides with the Councel?

That said, you're still beating up fascists! Whether Nazis or not, it's win win!

I was hoping with the tip missions, that that's what they were trying to do. However, to make it interresting at all, they need to be more than Boss rank.

Named bosses just don't have the same impact as Recluse and his LTs or Statesman and the rest of the Freedom Phalanx.

At the same time, some of the Rogue's Gallery they have in the tip missions, don't give me a superhero comic vibe. Not because they couldn't, but because *cough*Frostfire*cough* looks more like a thug/blue skinned civvie than anything resembling a spandex/tight/unstable molecule suit/techno armored wearing superhero/villain.

Some of them are though - like Doc Quantum, Falmbeaux and Blast Furnace - but we still don't have enough mad scientists to fight

Well I didn't forget them. And I know they do. And others in the missions have spandex looking outfits as well (I forget their names though), even if they're terrible looking.

Why is that? Is it because they need to be dangerous to you in order to be considered dangerous?

What about the Center? He's such a weenie you never even get to fight him, but he's far more of a threat than some of the big bad AVs he sics on you. I mean, what has Maestro ever really done besides order some experiments and try to beat you up?
