Revamp Tip Missions!

Not in a huge way. But we have all these named NPCs, but they're conning as Lts. or Bosses.

Up them to Elite Boss status, and allow those who want the challenge to have them con as AVs.

Silent Whisper is suppossed to be this big time assassin, and she's a LT or Boss rank? :/

Let's make it seem like a real hero vs villain fight!

Uuh... no. Thanks but not everyone of us likes to fight EB/AV. I like my challenges at Boss level.

If you want to fight EB's/AV's, there are places where you can go about doing that.

Not a lot of characters are capable of soloing EB's, or otherwise might not appreciate the fact that their tedious missions just became twice as tedious.

I also don't think an AV version of Silent Whisper would be a particularly challenging AV, either.

/this. You want it, go jack up your own difficulty. Make a copy of it in AE. Don't do it to everyone.

Yeah, I'll just join the line of no on this one.

I wouldn't mind having it added as an optional difficulty setting for people who wanted it, but a constant procession of EB fights in Tips would get dull after a while for me.

If an EB/AV version was available, and you could make them show up with difficulty settings or so on, I wouldn't have a problem with that.

But having them show up as EB on a "regular" difficult setting would be a no-no

Yeah, I agree. The EB/AV fights should be reserved for MAJOR fights at the end of a Story Arc or Task Force as it is now.

to TO THE END!
Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!

There's a phrase that sounds just about right for this suggestion...

Hell /jranger No.

Unlike Task Forces, Trials, or even major endings to Story-Arcs, the tip-missions are supposed to be soloable-content. Forcing the NPC Story Enemies to default as on EB would eliminate the ability of low damage archtypes to work through tip-mission content at their own pace.

I also suspect that raising default difficulty would give the player-base screaming about the lack of soloable options for Rare / Ultra Rare more cannon fodder. Not exactly something I think the developers would be interested in doing.

Given how many of the bosses in tip missions have godmodes, I'm going to join in with another "Hell no."

Having to wait out minutes of "Can't touch this" status on those bosses is not remotely my idea of a good time. The one thing that keeps them from being unbearably tedious is that I have a decent chance of preventing them from using their godmode.

Whether it's using mez, KB-and-spike, or Placate->AS, I know I have at least a chance of avoiding it. If they were upgraded to EBs, with the increased hitpoints and mez protection that would grant, that possibility would be removed for the majority of my characters. That would further limit the number of tip missions I would be willing to run to a small handful. It would possibly push things to the point that I would lose interest in running them altogether.

So no.

Eh. Just seemed like it would be better fights. Instead of fighting coutless hired lackey's, fights like Spider-Man VS Venom, Batman VS Joker.

We don't have enough of those fights.

Tip missions feel more like Spider-Man VS Thug #5.

Both red and blue sides are full of EB/AV battles in the mid-to-late game. You can also spawn an EB/AV any time you want in a Safeguard/Mayhem.

"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill

Well. Of course they do.

For the most part... that is what they are

The tip missions are largely one shot events. They are supposed to be little side events that occur because you noticed something out of the ordinary, spotted something a little off, or whatever. It's just you checking up on a lead. Sometimes that lead pans out into something major.

Sometimes it doesn't.

Sometimes it's just you kicking in the door and arresting a bunch of mooks making off with pallets of Canadian Maple Syrup...

and sometimes it's you finding something else... a little bit more major... going on.

Not everything has to be big, epic, major, over-the-top, world-shattering, event against the most dangerous opponents imaginable. Many times it is just you against Mook #whatever.

Now, if you want to make the point that the Morality Change Missions are not as Epic as they could be, or that they don't frame the re-occuring tip mission characters as valid opponents / threats / companions... yeah... there'd be a little bit more wiggle room on that point.

But I don't want to go through Ouro everytime.

though hmmm...the morality mission could be a good suggestion for where to make the battle more epic feeling!

You do know there are already Reputation adjusters in game just for people like you who like a more meaty challenge? Go talk to one and crank it up to max rep and as if there were 2 people in team. That will give you the feeling of epic.

No ghosting to the end though.

Meh, making morality mission bosses EBs or even worse AVs would just take away from the fun of them. As customised bosses they already tend to be better equipped to tackle players than standard mob bosses, and theres nearly always something else besides just 'Beat down EndBoss#1'. Ambushes, surprise revivals, buildings exploding...adding in EBs would be just like adding in Valkyrie's MoG; long, boring and fun-spoiling.

I, on the other hand, feel we have far too many of those fights. Not only are they irritatingly and unnecessarily difficult, throwing them around for no reason takes away from the supposedly RARE occasions when an enemy is exceptionally strong.

QFT. AVs and EBs have long turned into a silly gimmick with how often they are thrown around. Let's NOT extend the useless gimmick further, thanks.

My suggestion for revamping tip missions is simply to add more of them and make them more like the new One Good Spider* morality mission that, instead of relying upon EB's, uses more complex mechanics (timers... especially the countdown to event, side-switching foes, chained objectives, et cetera) to make it interesting.

*a.k.a. one of the most kickass soloable missions in the entire game. I've done it well over a dozen times and it STILL has me coming it out with a "HELL YEAH! THIS is what being a hero is all about!" feeling.

I would like to see the named characters at least be bosses then. It is a joke when you have bosses enabled and the subject of the "defeat this guy" mission spawns as a Lt.
